Me and dd5 are going to be at POR in 3 weeks and 2 days!!!! I can't wait. I am so glad I found this posting. I have seen other resorts with their official thread. I think I am going to request one of the AB buildings today. The Unofficial Guide has a nice map for each of the resorts. They even point out which ones have what views and get the traffic noise, etc. It was a great resource as is this thread. Thanks.

Do you have to pay $35 per person to ride or is that per ride? Where does it take you?

It's $35 per ride, not per person. A tip is also customary. It took us through PO Riverside and into FQ and then back to the marina area. It was very nice and relaxing.

Thanks Jennifer! How many people will fit in the carriage? Do you have to make a ressie for it?
Thanks!

I would make a reservation. You can make a reservation by calling 407-WDW-PLAY or same day reservations at the Riverside Marina. The ride is about 25 min. The carriage hold up to 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 small children.

The carriage can hold 4 adults or 2 adults with up to 3 kids. We had 2 adults with 3 kids (11, 6, and 2 at the time) and we were comfortable. You can make a ressie by calling 1-800-828-0228 when you're making your dining ADRs. Just tell them you want to reserve the carriage ride. We did the first one of the evening (6pm) and had plenty of time to make our 7:30 ADR at Ohana. HTH

Thank you so much for the info. I am making my ressie right now for one evening. How nice will that be? After a long day @ MK, an evening stroll in a carriage ride! Oh, I'm so excited!!!
Thanks,
Pam

i am not sure how many know of this, but POR also has a kids only activity on Sunday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 - 11:30....The Sassaluga Adventure Cruise. it is for ages 4 - 11. My daughter is 9 and loved it. It was on $30 and includes a PB&J lunch. Ask about it through Disney dining.

We arrive March 10th...only 11 days away  :cool1:

I can't wait!!!

I can't wait to stay in the Port Orleans resort- Riverside. Because I have the confirmation from disney.

Thanks, Mary!

I have been to Disney many times as a child and most recently with my DH and DD in 2005 and 2006, but I've never stayed onsite. We are planning a trip for early 2008 and we will finally be staying onsite--I'm excited! Port Orleans looks like it is right up our alley.

Does anyone have any recent info on the morning boats to DTD from the resort? We love DTD and I think our DD would love taking the boat. I have read conflicting info, so I just wanted to check and see if anyone knows if the boat runs before 4 pm.

Thanks so much! THis is a great thread!

Yes, the boats do run before 4 PM. The only difference is the boats run more frequently after 4 PM. Here's a photo I took of the sign for the boats last September.

I've been enjoying reading this thread. I wish I had discovered this forum/thread last year. We originally booked for POFQ, and somehow got switched. We were worried that POR would be noisier or not as quaint - plus it wasn't what we thought we were reserving. But in the end it was a lucky accident that worked out perfectly.
