It's the "little things"... what's yours?

This. This thread is what excites me about planning. Listening to everyone's magical moments that we'll always have - and none of it has anything to do with fastpasses or ADRs or crowds. It really is all those little moments that are wrapped up in this magical place. I've been pouring over threads talking about the FP+ and magic bands and had lost my love for planning. Thanks for helping me find it again! This is truly Disney Magic! pixiedust::grouphug:

I like sitting on the rocking chairs in Frontierland and watching people go by. It feels nice just to sit while everyone is rushing by. I like to see the smiles on the kids faces, watch families laugh with each other. I see more than a few frowns and hot sweaty tired faces, but that just reminds me to slow down and take it all in. Don't rush so much. Be thankful for where I am at that moment.

:thumbsup2

I so needed this thread! We leave for our trip in 21 days and I was starting to stress about it. The drama of FP+, not getting the perfect ADRs due to family deciding to join us and completely changing plans at 45 days out, resort changes, etc... This thread has reminded me if all the true JOYS of Disney.

This was an amazing thread!! I felt the magic of Disney just from reading everyones special memories and experiences :goodvibes

some of my favorites are...

The first time in the trip pulling up to our home away from home (old key west) I'm flooded with memories and excitement for more to come!

watching illuminations makes me tear up but nothing like wishes. Theres nothing I love more than sitting with my family, watching the fireworks show and listening to the wishes music that I know so well. :goodvibes

just being in Disney..makes you feel the magic in the air!:goodvibes:):lovestruc

Love this thread!!!

1. Wishes/Celebrate the Magic
2. When you first walk through the gates into a park..and you hear whatever music they might be playing
3. Riding Disney busses :D
4. Wearing my Minnie ears around :)

Thanks for the wonderful thread!

I loved reading all the memories. I am another one that loves it all but it really hits me when I am walking down Main Street with my family taking it all in

Some of my most precious memories from our last trip was on Main Street. Leading up to our trip my DD and I had been watching and singing along to the Disneyland Sing, as we walked in and down Main Street we were skipping and holding hands singing it, When we reached the hub there was the Trolley Show with the cast singing that very song!

-Seeing the Cinderella mosaic in the castle tunnel. I don't really remember the castle itself from my trip when I was younger. But I have a vivid memory of those mosaics and I went out of my way to go see them again.

-trying to find as many animals as I can in the Tree of life

-riding the tram cars (whether it was from the car to the parks or on the Backlot Tour) It was just like another ride for me when I was little and I was glad I got to ride one again even if we didn't drive on my last trip.

-Getting tongue-tied when meeting a princess for the first time (even at 24)

-talking with other families who are also enjoying the magic

-seeing the random wildlife in the parks (my friend an I swore there was a pair of ducks following us around since everywhere we went there was always a male and female duck where ever we went) Other animal sightings include rabbit, lizard, baby ducks, and a small snake that had wandered on the path to Fantasmic! (some CM saw it as we wandered by and as we passed they were wondering how they would move it. For some reason that made me smile)

-talking with the CM in AK about the exhibits (we found a funny fact that in one bird (I think it was vulture) exhibit only one of the dozens of animals in the exhibits was really supposed to be there. The rest were wild animals that had discovered it was a good place to hang out)

Just relaxing with the family. It's just a fun escape where we all have a great time together.

waiting for Illuminations (as the torches start to light)

the anticipation building with each small drop on Splash

Trying to kick the people kayaking on Soarin' :lmao:

Tink flying from the castle before Wishes

walking up to a park gate from the parking lot on your first park day and thinking "oh god, oh god, oh god...I'm finally HERE!!!" (or jumping up and down like a 3 year old while yelling this same thing - as I'm prone to do)

Being "welcomed home" to your resort - cuz hey in the words of Dorothy "there's no place like home"

This may sound ridiculous...but driving up I-drive and seeing the stupid Mermaid and Wizard gift shops and knowing that if we get lost "I can find my way from here...thanks"

DH laughing at me as I try VERY hard not to bawl like a baby during any fireworks show

I love casually walking around Magic Kingdom after dark and taking it all in. I don't know how they do it but there is this wonderful feeling of magic in the air, especially after dark.

Also riding Peter Pan. When I was little I watched Peter Pan constantly. And would regularly hurt myself thinking happy thoughts and jumping off the couch. On the ride I get chills and a huge smile on my face and feel like a little girl again.

OMG I LOVE THIS THREAD! :goodvibes It makes me all nostalgic and filled with my personal family memories from all our trips (which is I think what really makes Walt Disney World special to families)

I will probably be commenting more than once because I feel like I have so many "little things" but they all aren't coming to mind at once! (writer's block haha :rotfl:)

One of the little things I LOVE, because I'm a total NERD...so try to deal with my weirdness

I am a HUGE IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth fan - when the pre-show music dies down and the narrator starts talking - I just look around at the whole lagoon and all the torches are lit and there's just thousands of people all looking back at you and sharing in the experience.
Then the narrator says "We've gathered here tonight around the fire, as people of all lands have gathered for thousands and thousands of years before us, to share the light and to share a story..." :grouphug:
And it just feels like one GIANT campfire and we're all about to hear the coolest story ever and all experience the magic as one!

I just love that show!

You got me...going to get a Kleenex. :) Love happy Disney tears!

I love the Citizens of Hollywood, they make the Studios come to life.

I love the lighted pavement in Future World, I always run around in circles and jump on it because that's what you do with lighted walkways!

I also love the live entertainment at DTD, I've heard some great music and seen really interesting performers.

Stepping into MCO, walking past security, and being greeted by Disney shops.

Putting my bags down in my room for the first time and realizing how lucky I am.

The smell of Splash Mountain.

The starry windows in the Space Mountain queue.

The music during the Michelangelo scene on Spaceship Earth.

Standing on any of the World Showcase bridges at night, pausing to just take it all in.

Exploring areas I'd never paid attention to, courtesy of Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom.

Sitting in Italy with an Italian margarita, listening to accordion music and people-watching.

Touching the little carved B'rer Rabbit on the front of a Splash Mountain log, feeling the woody contours under my fingers. It's tough to explain, I guess I'm just a tactile person.

Sitting on the Poly beach, digging my toes through the sand, listening to the sound of laughter around me (or in the case of my most recent trip, a hilariously epic patio fight).

Great Thread!

1) For me it is the boat ride from FW to the MK... and having my kids look for the Shoe tree.

2) The excited chatter of all the kids as we arrive at WDW.

3) Just being at the place that I think so much about and seeing all the people who have the same excitement and passion that I have... all at once and all in one place

The way that when I wear a button, every cast member says Congradulations or Happy Birtherday or whatever you are celebrating.

Hidden Mickeys

I don't know if these qualify as Hidden Mickeys, but the non-ears type mickies such as a gloved hand pointing, or other things that say "Disney" (do you know what I mean by those?)

The towel animals in my room when I get back (the one thing I hate about DVC).

The characters as they interact with people

The kids as they look around

The background music playing around Innoventions. It's hardly noticeable if you're running to get from point A to point B, but it's a highlight for me. I hope they never change it.

Popcorn! In my head I know it's no different than any other theme park popcorn, but it sure tastes a lot better when you're at WDW! As soon as we drop our bags at the hotel we head to MK, and the very first thing I do is stop at the popcorn cart in front of City Hall. It's tradition.

Watching our MDE bus pull up at MCO. That means the travel part is over and the fun is ready to begin.

Crossing under the "Welcome to Walt Disney World" sign

The music from Soarin'. I get goosebumps whenever I hear it.

A Savannah view room at Kidani. Nothing like my one-year-old squealing with delight at the giraffes and zebras she saw from our balcony. Then waking up the next morning and standing by the door, yelling, "An-eee-mal, An-eee-mail!" until someone opens the door for her.

Agent P adventure and Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. Might not be as exciting as a ride to me, but DD(7) feels like she is an adventurer on a treasure hunt.
