It's the "little things"... what's yours?

Some of my "little things"--

That beautiful bench near the Adventureland gift shop. Such a serene spot. (I love to go there for some quite "me time" away from being the WDW tourguide for our family)

The feeling that I've really stepped into a Mexican marketplace at night when I enter the inside of the Mexico Pavillion.

The Koi pond in Japan Pavillion- photo op everywhere you look! Peaceful

As mentioned the road signs that let you know you're on disney property So exciting!

Taking the monorail into Epcot and the thrill of circling around Futureworld. Reminds me of entering my 1st time in WDW many yrs ago.

Having a tissue handy entering into the film at One Man's Dream bc I ALWAYS have tears flowing by the end.

Thank you so much for keeping this thread going! :lovestruc I just love hearing everyone's "little things". (big happy sigh)

And if you need more Disney awesomeness, go over to youtube and ride the people mover. :rotfl: Seriously, when I get sad or needing a Disneyworld "fix"... I go ride the rides on youtube. LOL. It helps! It really does!

Love this thread-here are a few of mine

Watching Wishes and singing along too when you wish upon a star. It always makes me believe dreams do come true

Seeing Disney through my children's eyes. I'm crazy about Disney but I truly love seeing it through their eyes

Having my many dole whips and mickey ice cream bars

Long ago when we stayed at the Wildnerness-walking into that lobby. It was just amazing.

Walking into Tomorrowland when I first go to the parks.

Riding the Teacups. There's something just so "Disney" about it!

Why? What does it smell like? What am I missing??? :rotfl:

I completely second the opinion regarding the Swan lobby. It smells like heaven. I bought the Laila perfume (although from nordstrom) and I sure wish they bottled and sold the Swan scent. My house would smell amazing.

I had to get a refill for my coffee. I know I would be here a while in this thread. I got teary reading all of the moments. Some brought back memories. I love this place.

One that I will never get back again was, My new reader 6yrs old, reading all the signs right up til we pulled into the Poly.

Watching my kids play on the GF/POLY beach with the castle in the background.

Watching Wishes in our jammies.

The first time riding Splash, BTMR, I KNOW we are on vacation then!

Thanks OP for bringing some happiness back to the DIS boards - it should be compulsory for everyone to read this thread!!!

Everytime I though of something to put down, I suddenly thought of something else that we loved.....there is so much!! But I would have to say that the first thing we do is go straight to MK, and go to Caseys. We get a hotdog and just sit outside on the chairs and watch everyone walking past....just thinking about it is making me so excited about our trip this summer!! Then we head over to POTC - as we walk in we always sing 'Ho Ho Ho Ho a pirates life for me'!! Its always our first and favourite ride!:):)

Getting to the bottom of the escalator at MCO and spying the row of Magical Express busses.. knowing that one of them will momentarily take me to my happy place :)

Chasing after my grandson at age 8 on his first WDW trip as he tried to take it all in at once.. not sure who was more excited Him or Me :)

Sitting around the table at 50s Primetime with the family, enjoying great comfort food & good times.. home away from home :)

Knowing that there is always a Disney trip (sometimes soon, sometimes distant) in our future, and savoring the planning. :)

I agree, this thread is just the best. Two weeks ago I promised myself to just skip over any thread with the abbreviation FP in it! :) Love that I can read through this one and smile....

Everything that I look at reminds me of some point in my life. My wife and I were talking about this while walking through MK 2 weeks ago. We have been so many times that every nook and cranny is associated with at least one memory. So, for me, it is the nostalgic feel that I get, and the hope that every new trip will add to those memories.

WDW just feels like love to me.

One of the "little things" are the wonderful wdw memories that you have reserved forever and can pull out and relive whenever you want. Keeping this positive thread rolling, here's mine:

My DD was 3 and we had breakfast at 1900 PF. She was afraid of the Mad Hatter, but then Alice came over. My DD went right to Alice, wrapped her arms around her and layed her head on her shoulder and just kept it there. Alice was so taken by this. She was rubbing my DD's back and repeatedly said "awwww" and "mmmm" she was clearly savoring the moment and that touched me! Of course while at our table she noted the make up of our family. DD being the only girl, and the "baby" of the famly.
Two days later we were in Morocco and visiting with Jasmine and Aladdin. Well, "Jasmine" sees my DD and says, "Catherine, where are your 3 older brothers?" My jaw dropped! This was our 1st time meeting Jasmne. How could she possibly know??? Puzzled for hours later, DH and I eventually concluded that "Jasmine" (in the afternoon) must also be "Alice" in the mornings (confirmed by looking at photos of each when we got home) and she REMEMBERED our DD's name and our family!!! :goodvibes

I love to hear the excited cries of "Tinkerbell!!!" when she flies out of the castle.

My husband. He turns into a kid and leaves work behind (for the most part!) and sings along with PoTC and Splash Mountain. (And all of the kids crying "Tinkerbell!!!" make him well up.)

Riding the tram at MCO. It means we're in Florida and the whole vacation is still ahead of us.

All of the atmosphere music in the parks.

The smell of fresh popcorn!

There are so many more, but this is a good start!

-Watching my kids let their "coolness" factor go and let the magic of Disney World take over. My DD had totally outgrown the princess phase and had become quite the tweenager. On one of our more recent trips, we ate again at Cindy's castle and I captured a picture of her with her head down and eyes closed making a wish with her wand. Brought tears to my eyes to see her let her guard down and let the little girl inside back out. pixiedust:

I just had tears reading this! My DD is 6.5, but she is starting to her that 'coolness' factor & it kills me. I hate seeing her censor her natural reactions of glee and little kid excitement, and I pray she let's go of it on our trip! That is the one thing I am most excited about!

Love this thread!!!

My is the 7 days of smiles!! With 4 kids (16, 13, 7 & 3) it doesn't happen to much! The time we get to spend as a family with no worries! My dad who will be 80 years old soon travels with us and the time my kids get to spend with my dad. ( he is the only grandparent my kids have)

Tell me the "little things" that make your Disney World, or Disney Land vacation so special. :flower3:

OMG - THANK YOU for this thread!! I really needed this. I keep getting sucked into that vortex of negativity. I need to live in this thread. :flower3:

The Casey statue that's marked my son's growth on every trip

THIS is awesome. I need to start doing something like that with my kids!

You have given me hope. I want my baby to stay in her princess phase, but she's already leaving it! Good to know the magic can still live on.

Here are a few of mine:
- Getting on the Magical Express, going under the WDW sign and then the MK sign on our way to our "home" at BLT

- The opening show at MK on our first morning there

- It's a Small World - makes me so happy

- Seeing my kids do something new as they get bigger. I'm a proud mama.

LOVE THIS TREAD!!!!

Mine is 7 days of smiles!!! It doesn't happen to much at home with 4 kids. (16, 13, 7, & 3). They all get along!! We also travel with my dad (who will be 80 so). I love that my kids have this special time with him! (he is the only grandparent my kids have).

I SOOOO needed this thread!

My most special moments:

When we drive under the Walt Disney World Welcome sign as Fantasmic (always!) plays on the iPod and I start to cry from happiness that we are finally home...
When we walk on to Main Street USA for the first time each trip and I just stop and take it all in, and (again!) tear up with joy...
When I watch my DH and DD17 skipping hand-in-hand through the parks, and I am so grateful that she doesn't feel embarrassed to show her excitement and her love of family...
When I see Chip and/or Dale and turn into a big kid again myself - I actually get giddy like a 12 year old meeting One Direction or something!
Standing on Main Street listening to the Dapper Dans...
Every time we check another small item off our Disney bucket list, like last trip when we FINALLY met PUSH!
Just re-living memories of so many special times at WDW, like the time we were Grand Marshall's of the MK parade...
Taking the same pictures of DD years apart, showing how much she has grown...
Standing on the path between Tomorrowland and the Fantasyland Station, watching the train steam by...

I. CAN'T. WAIT!!! :woohoo:

A giraffe traffic jam on Safari

Discovering more than a year after we got home that DW teared up when she saw the castle and that DD8 believes the characters are real.

Thank you for this thread, I've had a huge smile on my face while reading everyone's responses! :goodvibes

Love, love, love the growth pictures by the Casey statue. I've been trying to find a spot for my two boys and I think this would be perfect for them.

Seeing the Mickey Power Tower on our drive in! My boys wave and yell "hi Mickey" every single time. :)

Festival of the Lion King always makes me tear up.

Sharing a dole whip on a hot day is my personal favorite!
