Yes its the Eurovision Song Contest!! Yay!!

Anyone else going to be watching the semi-finals tonight??

I agree with Nat - our song is rubbish !!

But I've always watched it, so I will watch on Saturday.
Fortunately I can remember when our songs were good - e.g. Puppet on a String, Congratulations etc.

Showing my age now :sad1:

I will only be watching the semis to see if Albania gets thru, I hope they do bcos that will make Saturday's show more interesting!

I'll watch Saturday, but I hate all the politics now the points are just not fair! And I think our song is rubbish too but we haven't won with a good one so maybe that's where we've been going wrong :lmao:

I only watch it for the voting bit, it makes me laugh every year:rotfl2:

I always watch it, but I'm not sure why, tradition i suppose and memories of my childhood, my mum is a eurovision nut:confused3 Its always a good way to drink a bottle of wine though, so by the time votes come around I'm squiffy, so much fun:lmao:

i think our song is rubbish tho ;)

No, I won't be watching it (I can't stand Terry Wogan's voice), but I actually think we're in with a good chance this year. The song is catchy and cheesy and very Eurovision - I hope it does well ;)

Mandy :) (aka - someone who knows nothing about music :rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

Same here - bottle of wine and some nibbles and I won't notice the awful singing !!

BAN it i say BAN it. its not a reason to move Dr Who.

And now i've got the chicken song in my head... :(
(It's that time of year, when those two wet git with the girly curly hair...)

I always watch the final - it's the only time I enjoy Terry Wogan on the TV with his tongue in cheek comments :)

Our entry is the pits! I saw them on TV the other day, the song is rubbish and the dance routine looked so 'wooden' and rehersed. I can see us getting another 'nil points' :)

Some of the lyrics are enspired:

"Ba-ba-da, Ba-ba-da,
Ba-da-da-ba, ba-da
Duty free madam?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah."

What poetry LOL

Just watching Loose women and they've got Brotherhood of man singing Save all your kisses for me, I can so remember watching that year when I was little and doing the dance with the foot lifting :lmao:

I used to love that song when I was little Jo :goodvibes We are showing our age now though :rotfl:

As a Doctor Who Fan, I could agree with Mobius... I mean, come on, Doctor who!! Nuff Said.. :rotfl:

However, and I say this very embrassingly, since I am probably going to be branded a traitor by those on the Dr. Who Thread, that I like Eurovision!!! :goodvibes :cool1: :thumbsup2 It's very good, and I've watched it for years. Although, admittedly this is the first I've seen from start to finish.

This is really the first time I saw all the stuff beforehand. The Semis, the Making your mind up, all of it. :thumbsup2 It's quite cool. Our Entry? OK, when I saw it for the first time, I hated it. It was absolutely cheezy, however, it has the audience going, and, in the day and age where all music is recorded in a studio miles away and fiddled with so it is perfect, live music is pretty much dead. All the can rely on is the audience.

The only major downside with the song was the inuendos. There were absoultly TONS of them in that song. I would go into depth and tell you (trying my hardest not to laugh at the thought here.. :rotfl: ) but this is a family board!

Some of the songs were good, some were funny. Here is my line up of thoughts:

  • Isreal? 'Push the button'? Are they asking for it?? :rotfl:
  • Ireland's 'They Can't Stop the Spring', (Not in the Semi) I love for it the ethically and pride for Ireland they have. However, and DB's Irish Girlfriend agrees.. It sucks.. :rotfl: I am sorry but it is pretty bad...
  • The one that looked like the Euro Mcfly I thought would of been better had they song the whole song in english. :thumbsup2 It was OK, nice beat. :)
  • The Blues lady was really good! Did she get through? Can't remember..
  • 'I'm your Drama Queen tonight', LOL.. :lmao: I was sitting there thinking "Yup you are a drama queen" until I remembered it was DRAG queen not Drama Queen.. :lmao:
  • Lady in a white dress (forgot country!) was good. There was another one similar that I also liked...
  • The 'Shake it' dude was quite cool, he was good. :)
  • The one from Greece that is English was good as well. (Was that the same guy?)

All in all good. :) The downside with Eurovision itself (and this is a timeold argument), is how seemingly rigged it is. We, along with Spain, France and Germany automatically get through? And ALL 10 spaces from the Semi going to Eastern European Countries? (Well there was one 'Maybe' I think..) Something can't be right!

I disliked the Narraton on that, took away attention from the show. Otherwise, I can't say much. We shall see what will happen next. :thumbsup2
