It's storming at Disney World

It's been raining here since last night. Thunder, lightning, the works. On days like this I feel sorry for the people at Disney on vacation.:umbrella:

I wouldn't mind the rain at all because it clears out the parks. There would be more time for me to do the things I want.:)

DH is down there now for a conference. They had a break yesterday and he went to the parks. He was watching for the hotel shuttle last night and texted me that it was lightening like crazy.

Our cheer gym is heading down today for the All Star nationals at WWOS. It rains every single year that they go, so plan for rain for the next 4 days :rotfl:

We had planned on going to Epcot today, but it's just too nasty. A little rain is one thing, but it's also windy with some rumbling still going on. We live close enough we can go on any nice day, but I agree it's not a good day for those on vacation.

We don't mind a light sprinkle when we go, but it is just too nasty. I had thought about taking the kids to AK today - good thing I didn't mention it to them! The park "commandos" will have a lot of fun today, I'm sure the rain is scaring everyone else away!

A friend of mine is out there right now. We live north of New Orleans and I think that y'all are getting over there is what we had early yesterday morning. Had a tornado (teeny tiny one, not like in the movie Twister or anything) touch down in a neighborhood very close to mine. It was crazy! I woke up from the rumbling at 4am and never went back to sleep. I was ready to run into my daughters room if I heard anything. Fast forward to 7, husband is getting ready for work, daughter is running around the house and the husband is like hey, I hear a tornado. He opens the door and I hear nothing but wind. Guess it was pointless for me to stay awake. I was a nervous wreck though!

Problem is, it was lightening. You don't want to mess around with that stuff. It was nasty storms here a couple hours north of WDW. Not just a casual rain to clear out the park.

Good luck. The team my DD will be cheering for next year will be down there also. The weather here in Jacksonville, is 100% beautiful this weekend, hopefully it will be down there too.

I think I'd still rather be on vacation in Disney with stormy weather than here in NJ ... we're expecting another 1 - 2 inches of rain here today & severe flooding in some areas :sad2: ... I would just love to be strolling through the gift shops in the parks/resorts/DTD to stay out of the rain or eating a late, leisurely breakfast right about now :cloud9: ...

I guess I'm odd because I love storms. Not when I'm in WDW, of course, but when I'm home I enjoy the thunder, lightning, and wind. It seems, though, that for the past few years we haven't had the usual spring thunderstorms that I always look forward to.

I wouldn't mind the rain as long as it wasn't cold. But the lightening would keep me inside.

here ... in PA. I was thinking the exact same thing!!

.

I was just watching the eyes on ears live webcam and it is set up at the Swan/Dolphin. It looks so gloomy there.

We were there for an entire week of monsoon type of weather in May 08. We had a great time.

I agree. I can deal with the rain, but I don't take a chance with lightning.

Not odd at all (well, at least I don't think so ;)). I also love storms. When I was at Palm Beach Atlantic in college, I used to go park by the storm wall and watch the waves crash as the rain poured down with the fierce winds - loved it! :thumbsup2

ETA: My Master's degree is in Geosciences, and one of our field courses was a Great Plains Storm Chase - very interesting and exciting at times. :)

It's clearing off here in downtown Orlando.

We really need the rain so I don't mind it a bit.

The rain has finally stopped out here in Egypt too! Still cold and yucky though. I have the new Tinkerbell movie put away to put in DD's Easter basket, but since there will be no playing outside today, we may break it out early.

It should be nice this weekend so I might head to Epcot for the festival. :thumbsup2
