It's so cold this morning that I....

It’s starting to snow at our home on the north side of the Houston area. Even Jim Cantore has come to town. This is so not normal, but I’m grateful that our furnace decided to die yesterday vs today or tomorrow. It wasn’t cheap, but we at least have heat again. Now keeping fingers crossed (along with everything else) that the power stays on.

-40 out there right now but it will warm up as the day goes on. Only -15 C by supper time.

Yep - the extreme cold snaps come and go all winter and while they are definitely not great, they do make us appreciate “regular cold” which is anywhere from -10 to -25.

I woke up to -17, is now -9.

And today was worse, woke up to -20. Gross. this is the end of it for now at least, it is going to go above zero later today, finally.

That instead of watering our desert forest this morning ... I waited for the warmth to improve and was treated to a fantastic surprise... the yard was full of lizards... basking on our Terra Cotta safe zones we created by stacking the drip plates on top of each other...so excited at 2:00 I went into the house to tell my wife .....her reply... your the only reptile who can move around with the rising sun
