This is so cold here today. A record this morning - at Cedar Rapids, -24 (prior record was -23). And wind chill was -50! Yes, - five/oh!!!

How cold is that?

Well, for starters, it is colder than both the North Pole, which was a balmy 37 degrees, and the South Pole, which was -18!!

Now, it is up to -12!!

Schools were cancelled by 9 pm last night! I think they didn't want to risk having the kids wait at the bus stops in these dangerous conditions. Plus, I think the buses would have trouble starting with their diesel fuel.

Predicted to go back down to -25 tonight, with a heat wave of 9 above tomorrow!!!

Just -5 when I got up at 8 am. It doesn't feel too cold. it is not very windy, which helps.

Always nice when the car starts!!

We didn't even try the one that we park outside this morning. Since school was canceled, we used our daughter's car, which is one of the two that is in the garage.

Iowa has NH beat for now. It is cold here and going to get even colder tonight. We'll be happy if the cars start tomorrow! All three are outside and by the time DD heads out to school it is too late for the bus and too late to wait for AAA to get here to jump start!

We plan to give in and turn the thermostat up tonight. Normally we just use the wood stove but tonight when the fire starts to die down it is probably going to be uncomfortably cold in the bedrooms!

and I KNOW his coat isn't warm enough.



Only there for one or two days to tour a manufacturing plant-which hopefully is heated.

Grand Meadow near the IA line had 58 below windchill!

Only 51 below windchill here in Rochester earlier, now at noon minus 16 air temp.

The 20's they are predicting for the weekend is going to feel mighty good!

All the schools in the Milwaukee, WI area are closed as well. The forecast doesn't look much better for tomorrow. Luckily I don't have to go in to work today!!! Brrrrrrrrrrr

We are at a whopping 5º with a wind chill of somewhere around -10º. We are under a wind chill warning for this evening through tomorrow at noon when wind chills will reach -25º to -30º and regular temps somewhere around -10º. It is supposed to stay this way through Saturday. . .I am so over winter! Oh yeah, our schools are already cancelled for tomorrow as well.

Our Fox station talked to a forecaster from Minnesota. There were wind chills expected to be -50 to -60. She said that if you walked into a refrigerator, it would be 100 degrees warmer!!!

EXTREMELY cold here. 4 minutues until frostbite. I was hoping for cancellations, but there are none.

We are asked to reduce our electricity consumption as much as possible. Many are without power here. I hope they can rectify that

We are supposed to be in the deep freeze until Monday morning.

I thought about busting out my jacket but grabbed my new hoodie from WDW instead. So you know its cold when I contemplate a jacket...

Almost as cold as Canada!!
It was -33 F(-36 C) with wind chill of -53 F (-47C wind chill which is when they cancel school here)
The weather is supposed to be up to 0 by Sunday----such drastic changes in weather, weird!

Well, the kids will be out of school tomorrow for the third day in a row...with MLK day that gives them a 6 day vacation! It is currently -11, supposed to get to -20 tonight with -45 to -50 wind chill.

It is SO cold that when our dogs piddle out size it FREEZES as it hits the ground! The dogs look at me like "you want me to go OUTSIDE and pee? you've got to be kidding!"

It is supposed to be in the 20's by the weekend. Maybe we can all go swimming outside since it will be a heat wave!
