A couple very kind and thoughtful people remembered that I mentioned I'd be taking the DAT exams right after Christmas! So I'll share what I've shared with a few folks already.

I didn't do as well as I would have liked but I did better than I thought I was going to do.

I did better than the National Average. So that's good....but I don't know if it'll be good enough.... If I was applying to Florida schools.......no problem I would be seriously suprised if it got me into UPenn. (Although that's ok cause that's not my first choice.) BUT.......it SHOULD (along with everything else taken into consideration) get me into Temple.....which is my first choice.

I was around the 75% percentile in 2 categories but slightly over 52% for average science score.... Hopefully the two that I scored higher in (PAT and Reading) will pull me through. *A kid I spoke with at Temple said that their committee looks more at those two scores especially in the case of "non-traditional" students.* It should also be good enough for LSU. Again though it'll all depend!

So with a little luck I'll be going to either Temple Dental School or LSU Dental School next year. :)

Good luck!! I'm so impressed that you are doing all this! How exciting to be looking forward to starting dental school! :D

Thanks!!! :) I'm really excited!!!!!! Although every so often the realization of being poor for 4 years hits home...........no trips to WDW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Oh and I do have to add because while I think I could have done better I'm very proud of the fact that the vast majority taking this exam are current Jrs and Srs in college...........I graduated 7 years ago and it's been 10 years since I had basic college chem! LOL So you could say I've been having a great couple of days since I took the test :) *Although I'm trying not to be too optimistic because the real results will be when I hear from a school that they want an interview! :) *

Congratulations and best of luck to you....:D

Glad to see you survived it Nikole. :teeth: Congratulations!

No trips to WDW? Don't forget Priceline. :)

Congratulations and thanks for sharing. I think that this is super news.

I'm so happy for you, that you did well and that it's OVER! I know that must be a huge relief!

Fingers crossed, that you get into one of your top choice schools!

I am so happy for you, Nikster!! I just know you will get into the college you want!! :)

I did not know you were planning on dental school. Aren't you in the medical profession now?

Congratulations on the test. I think you will make a wonderful (and compassionate) dentist which is the kind I need.

Four years of proverty will vanish when you become a dentist. Keep us posted.

Nikole, That is great, you should be so proud of yourself, I sure am. Big deal no trips for a few years to Disney, after you become a denitist you can go as much as you want. O, BTW, I have a toothache, care to help? :D

Nik,

That's awesome! I hope you get to go EXACTLY where you want! I just took a MS Access test, and it was HARD taking a test after so many years out of academia. Great Job.

Debbie

Congratulations Nikole!

I hope you get the college you want. :)

I'm happy it's over for you Nikole. I know you have been "stressing." But you survived so that is wonderful. I'm crossing my fingers that you will get into the school of your choice.

i am keeping my fingers crossed that you get to go wherever you want. :)

congrats on the test. :)

and next year, we can commiserate on being poor together. LOL

Thank you thank you thank you!!! :) I'm still just so excited I can't WAIT! *of course that's precisely what I HAVE to do now* :)

My two choices really are Temple (here in Philly) or LSU (New Orleans) because those are bases that my husband can get assigned to..... so that does limit me but we'll work with it!

Marlasmom..>I was premed in undergrad and worked at medical schools and then a pharm company until right before 9/11. Since then I've been a sales mgr which has been different and interesting but clearly not how I want to spend the next 50 years! ;)

hehehe Gail T I suggest you ask WM Doc as he's still our resident dental expert ;)

Good luck. One of the members of the college bowl team that I was on in undergrad was pre-dent and told us about how hard the DAT was. Back then (this was over 20 years ago) you had a physical dextirity test that was pretty challenging (it make sense that you would want someone with a light touch working in your mouth).
Again, good luck.
