Hi! We're just back from 7 nights at ASMu, and have learned something very valuable - we are value resort people!

We had two connecting rooms on the 3rd floor of the Jazz building - Number 9. First, I could not believe how beautiful the resort was - especially with all of the lights at night! The landscaping was gorgeous, and the pools were big and clean. The icons were not gawdy at all - they were really well done and interesting.

The rooms (we had two connecting rooms) were clean and spacious. We had lots of pillows, firm mattresses, and soft blankets. Having two bathrooms and two TVs was priceless. Mousekeeping was wonderful - we got several towel animals and they paid lots of attention to our needs (such as leaving the bedspread folded up, creating a towel toothbrush holder, etc.). It was GREAT to have so much space. The view from our parking lot-side room was of a lush landscaped area.

We enjoyed the food court and gift shops. The food choices were varied and plentiful, and we were always able to find a free table. All of the employees were so nice and helpful. They said good morning every day and welcomed us home every night.

We loved it so much that I came home tonight and changed our reservations for Christmas from the WL concierge to Pop Century. I know some of you may be shocked at that, but I think my family will be happier and I'll save about $1200!! :goodvibes

I'm glad to hear you had a good time at All Star Music. I agree, it's very pretty at night.

Welcome to the club! I think the value resorts are wonderful, too.

We do love the Wilderness Lodge, but we're just as happy when we stay at All Star Movies. In fact, during our first split-stay between the two resorts we actually enjoyed our time at Movies more. The transportation was better, our room was cleaner, and it was much quieter. :earseek:

Just think of all the extra fun money you now have for your Christmas trip.... :teeth:

I'm jealous. With a family of five we'd have to book two rooms to go to any value resort. Staying at the POR is less money and it's beautiful, so that's where we ended up, and where we plan to go again. I just know my kids would adore the AS movies resort, I have two huge Buzz fans here, but we don't have a lot of money at our disposal.

We actually will have to wait until we are better off financially to go to the value resort. LOL, isn't that funny?

If you go during Value season the difference is $20 a night. $134 for POR or $154 for 2 rooms at All-Stars. For the extra bathroom and tv it might be worth it. During the other seasons its $50 and up difference per night. We used to do because my oldest DD had a terrible snoring problem and only Middle DD could sleep through it. She can sleep through anything. Though there were 4 of us. The Youngest DD and I would share one room and the older girls in the other. One time my ex husband went with us. He slept in the room with the older DDs. We called it the snoring room. OMG you could hear it through the cracked door. I got up in the middle of the night and locked the connecting door. LOL

I am so glad you had a great time. I'am on the fence about staying there. but I could save 500.00 and it's a surprise trip for my hubby. And I know that could pay for alot of golf.

Kath, did you find it very noisy at all? And would you say there was more concrete than landscaping? Im just curious as I would like to book here possibly for our next trip but have always been wary of it being busy for buses, food hall, evening noise levels. Dont mind lots of happy kids noise but have only been to CBR and CSR . Have you been to other resorts? Just wondered how the room space compare. And can you hire a fridge?

I was booked at POR and switched to 2 rooms at ASmo and it was only $100 difference. I used AAA and am doing the Magic Your Way + Dining.

Dh and I stayed at Pop in July. It was our very first stay at a value. (I admit that I had turned-up my nose at values in the past!!) We loved it! In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we are returning to ASMu (glad to hear your glowing report) tomorrow with the kids. Hopefully, they haven't been too spoiled by the deluxes. I'm looking forward to being able to spread out more. Somehow, I just can't justify the expense of 2 rooms at a deluxe until the kids are older.

We love AS Mu too. We've stayed there three times (always in Jazz for some reason). We never had any problem with noise, we didn't find it crowded, and we enjoyed the pools. We also love Pop (headed there in a few weeks for one night). The only level of resort we didn't particularly enjoy was deluxe! For us, the extra money just wouldn't be worth it (we received a free upgrade from a moderate). We don't use the spa or health club, we don't need fancy decorations, we don't need concierge services, and we love having the extra money to spend on ourselves!

We just did a split POP/AKL stay and I enjoyed both resorts. We did our busy park days while at POP, but still enjoyed the pool and then some relaxing less busy days at AKL.

My dh definitely preferred AKL, but I'd stay in either again with no qualms.

thanks for that report! we are POP people but have yet to do ASMU it's the only All * we have left! haha we can't seem to break away from the POP!
We too so far have loved the values better than some of the mods!

Finally someone with positives about the value resorts :cool1:
Glad you had a wonderful stay, it's nice to stay deluxe every now and then
but IMHO value's are the way to go.

We did not hear any loud noises at all. We heard the occasional toilet flushing, which was fairly faint, but nothing ever woke us up. We were on the 3rd floor facing the parking lot, so there was no overhead noise and very few people walking by. As for the concrete vs. landscaping, I thought it was a good balance, and was actually surprised at how much landscaping there was between the building we were in and the parking lot. The resort looked very lush.

We did not use the bus at all, so I can't comment on that. The food court was never really full when we were there, but the grill line (burgers, chicken nuggets, philly cheesesteak, chicken sandwiches) was often very backed up.

The only other resort we have stayed at on-site was the Polynesian, and I was unimpressed. The room was bigger, but smelled musty, and Mousekeeping was spotty. I liked ASMu much better. The rooms at ASMu were much bigger than I expected (the size of a "normal" room at Holiday Inn or other chsin motels) and were laid out nicely. The Poly room seemed to be too much bathroom and not enough room.

Yes, you can rent a fridge for $10 plus tax per day.

Glad you had fun!
I was just posting in another thread how my children love the All Stars! Disney's Value resorts are fabulous!

Glad you had a great stay. I admit it I was once a resort snob. We only stayed at deluxes until we squeezed in a trip a couple of years ago at Pop. Once I realized that we saved almost $200 a night by going to PC instead of YC I was hooked for life.

Thanks for the info! We plan on adjoining Value rooms for our next trip. Glad to hear your experience was so great!

We're value resort people too, welcome to our group! We stayed at CBR on our last trip (Sept) and we like it, but we did miss ASMo, so I guess we're heading back there next time......whenever next time may be!

For those of you who have stayed at ASMu and found it not crowded or noisy, were you there during a busy time? I'll be at WDW in June and haven't booked a room yet. I'm worried about the crowdedness and noise. Any comments? I sort of have the feeling that if we go into it with a positive attitude then we'll be just fine.

Was it $100 difference total, or 100 a night? We plan to stay ten nights next time so even a small difference adds up. I'd rather spend the extra money at the parks, but $100 total isn't a big deal. I could handle that. We usually vacation the last week of August when value season has just begun, yet school isn't back in here up north.
