It's official that Starbucks is coming to DCA

Soooo nice SB is coming to DCA!!!! Yeah, count me in as excited! :) I love the fact they will all be themed to the lands throughout the resorts and curious to see how its done for BVS!

And just for the record, I dont even drink a lot of coffee lol. It all tastes the same to me. BUT, what I love about SB are their frappucinos!!! Man, that is going to be so nice to order one of those things, take a seat outside the cafe and watch the people and trollys go by!

Sad it took DCA over a decade to get its act together, but the second act is turning out to be pretty darn cool! :cool2:

Count me as a dissenter!! Why do people love Starbucks so much when their choice of beans is substandard at best? They roast the heck out of them to make them somewhat decent. Ya, they're better than Nescafe but I would have preferred something like Wolf Gang Pucks Express in DTD similar to WDW. Their coffee is FAR better and great food too! Or perhaps for better selections Seattle's Best or many others. Starbucks to me is poor quality over-hyped but I know I'm in the minority!!

This also echos the McDonalds Fry wagons inside DL. I want to escape from reality when at DLR as much as possible.

I can't stand coffee so I never drink it, but I've done my share of experimentation and IMO Starbucks has the best black iced tea lemonade and hot chocolate. I can see your point about wanting to escape from the outside world as much as possible while at DLR though. I'll most likely stay away from the DLR Starbucks if the prices are outrageously high, which I'm sure will be the case.

I think the comment about wanting to escape reality when in DLR is kind of funny, because the whole time I was growing up, Disneyland was all about sponsorship and it was very prominently displayed on rides, food places, and stores. "Brought to you by ______" was everywhere! And I still think about some of those places, like the Welch's grape juice place, the Starkist tuna sign on a sailing ship, Fritos (Casa de Fritos restaurant), Bank of America presents It's a Small World, etc. It's kind of nostalgic to me now!

As for Starbuck's, yahoo! It is a whole new world of coffee compared to what they have in DLR now. I've come to like Starbucks a lot more than I used to. We have lots of great coffee to choose from in my town and I think Starbucks is a decent choice. I don't want anything fancy (like frappucinos and blended stuff), just a cup of coffee. With SB at least you know the cup of joe had more than 1 bean go into its brewing and they are fairly stringent when it comes to barista training so that's all to the good.

Yahhooooooo!! I am a totally addicted soy, no foam latte drinker. My vacation will be ever changed now!!!:cool1:

This is great news. I will most def. be going here! I wonder how much they will charge vs. the normal prices at out local starbucks.

mmm a gingerbread latte while walking around looking at the holiday decor... doesn't get much better! :lovestruc

Now if they are up and running in the first week of July, I will be one happy camper. :cool1:

My husband and I agree with you about Starbucks coffee. Have no idea what the big do is all about when it comes to trying to swallow there coffee. Now, you just can't go wrong with Seattle's Best at some McDonalds. Or there fantastic Mocha Frappe's just plain yummy!!! You nailed that one right Huff.

Seattle's Best is owned by Starbucks. Not sure if they use the same roast process or not.

LOL, yeah thanks for bringing this up! I dont think the younger generation realize walking into DL use to be like walking into a sponsorship exhibition. Yeah, there use to be signs EVERYWHERE when the park first opened. They clamped down on the outright displays decades later and as the park didnt need as many as it became more sucessful, but DL like ALL these theme parks and entertainment venues have sponsors and yeah, I cant blame them one bit for wanting their name out there, otherwise what would be the point?

And I always kind of laugh how we say want to 'leave the real world behind'....as we pack up our Iphones, Mp3s, Ipads, videogames, the dozens of snacks from the local 7-11, bottled water and even toys for the kiddies all shoved in to double strollers and backpacks. Believe me, you're lugging the real world everywhere you go in that park. ;)

The only thing I can think of worse than being trapped on a runaway mine train in the 19th century is bad cell phone service! :scared1:

Starbucks coffee just tastes burnt. I don't get it at all! It is horrible! Substandard is a nice way to put it.

...you just can't go wrong with Seattle's Best...

Why didn't they go that route?? So much better.

Seattle's Best is owned by Starbucks. Not sure if they use the same roast process or not.

If the two are tasted side by side you can taste that they don't use the same beans or roasting process (heck they even look different). So far, SB's has left SB's alone since purchasing them. I'm sure it is only a matter of time before the serve that nasty swill they give you at SB's. Yuck! I'm so disappointed about this! Guess we'll just keep bringing our coffee pot and making our own!

My DH is so happy! :lovestrucStarbucks is his favorite coffee.(not mine!) I do like their teas and frapps though.

booo! my wife would probally love this ,but me not so much when im at the parks i dont wana see anything that im seeing in my everyday life i like to get away from all that, before we know it there will be a mccdonalds, subway, ect.. in the parks. i feel like this will cheat us of the disney magic. I just dont like the idea of this! just venting my opnion

Is the starbucks going to be in the park or Downtown Disney?

Yesterday's announcements says that Starbucks locations are coming to DCA in June, and then five more locations -- one inside Disneyland itself and one at each of the four Florida theme parks.

So according to that information Starbucks isn't coming to DTD -- at least not now.

I'm with you. I don't think Starbucks is a positive addition- although it will be a step up in the coffee quality.

Just to add to jcarwash.... :goodvibes

At DLR:

The one in DCA is expected to open on June 15 -- Fiddler, Fifer and Practical (FF&P) Café, on Buena Vista Street.

And the one in DL is expected to open some time in July -- Carnation Café.

Al Lutz wrote about Starbucks today:

He said that Starbucks/Disney will use the 1971 version of the Norse Mermaid logo instead of the more streamlined modern logo.
