Its finally official! I have been informed that we are in ready to close status and that our deed will be recorded 11/17 THE DAY AFTER WE RETURN FROM OUR FIRST TRIP HOME! YIPEE! Its been SUCH long process. It started almost a year ago when we returned from our third trip renting points and pretty much decided we wanted to become members. We had a couple of rental properties and decided that it was probably a good time to sell them and that we would definitely take some of the proceeds to buy DVC. We entered into our first P&S on our properties in mid December, and I started watching the DVC resale market. I was hopeful that maybe we could close a DVC sale the week of our next WDW trip Feb 04. In late January, that deal fell through. I still watched the resale market, but knew that we would have to wait. In April, we got P&Ss on both properties and I was hot into watching the resales again. I would watch as availability went up and down. All the while when it was down, saying I should have put in an offer last week! LOL! One property ultimately closed in June, but unfortunately we had a couple other bills to take care of first, so DVC eluded me again. I called DVC because the SSR specials were being promoted, but in talking to our guide, we decided we really wanted the BWV, so I told him wed probably buy resale. Our second property was scheduled to close in August, so in early August, I put an offer in on a BWV resale that was accepted. I was elated. A couple days later, DH told me there were going to be some delays with our sale. I was deflated! We had to rescind our offer. About a week later, my DVC guide calls, wants to know if were still thinking about it, I say yes, but we really want BWV and low and behold he says he has BWV points available. My heart skips a beat. I question him about whats required, how it works, etc., etc. and after a day or two of discussion with DH, we called and put our $500 down. We get our documents and temporary membership cards a few days later and I called to make reservation for Nov 04 and Feb 05. I get waitlisted for Nov, but have Feb confirmed. (I realize, we dont own enough points. LOL!) The documents we get have payment in full to DVC due by 9/27, almost 2 weeks after our currently scheduled closing date on our sale of 9/15. Well wouldnt you know it, again our closing gets delayed. I begin thinking everything is going to fall apart. I am distraught. DH says to hang in there, our sale is not dead, just delayed. I call my DVC guide and tell him we need an extension. He says no problem. DVC calls and tells us our wait list came through for November. Hoorah! Mid October and still no closing date on our deal. I tell DH we need some non refundable money out of our real estate sale. Im distraught again! I call DVC and say we want to finance. They prepare new documents and mail them to us. I forget to tell them to mail to my office, not home because were never home. I call and leave a message to change delivery location. I arrive home one day to find a note that Fed EX had been there. Call Fedex to try to reroute. Sender has to reroute, Call DVC to get package rerouted. Successful! Relieved! We receive a large additional deposit from our buyer that we both agree will not be escrowed. We sign the new documents on 10/20 and mail them back with 20% deposit. I realize that with this new set of documents we got new membership cards. Heart skips a beat! What happened to our reservations? Frantically call DVC. Reservations were transferred (and have new number) Whew! Call 10/27 to make sure all is all set. Uh-oh credit department needs more info. 10/28 forward additional info to credit. Call 11/1, still an issue with credit (long story regarding failed business that affects our credit report) We can write letter about failed business. I offer another 10% down. Told with another 10%, no problem (and no letter necessary) They wont take debit card or do bank debit. Need credit card. Not easy task, but we manage (another long story). Call 11/3, our guide out until 11/5 left message. MEANWHILE called CRO. All this time we have backup reservation at ASSP and POR. Changed arrival to one day later. to push back 5 day cancellation date. Finally today, I call the leave a message with the guide again. Im too impatient. I call the credit department. Leave message. Credit calls me back on work phone and tells me we are set to go! Cell phone is ringing, while Im on with credit. It goes to voice mail. When Im off the phone with credit I check Cell phone message and it was our guide saying we are set to go! What can I say? Whoopee! Now I set my countdown times for our first trip home!
