It's Official - Contemporary DVC (The Kingdom Tower)

I'm curious, when the article states that KTR will have 281 total units with an initial sale of 75. As we know, a "unit" in time-share speak is not the same as a "room". Jambo House at AKV is 56 "units" but many more rooms than that. So an initial sale of 75 "units" is about 50% more than the inital sale at AKV. However, it sounds to me like the total of 281 would be more like rooms. Anybody have any thoughts on that? :confused3

Also, speculation on the point charts: so KTR will have the highest point requirements of any DVC room -- duh! But what does that mean? Currently the highest point requirements are for AKV concierge: ST - 13, 1BR - 27, 2BR - 37, in low season; 23/45/61 in premier. So highest could simply mean higher than these -- by a lot, or by a little remains to be seen. I don't see how they can be too out of line with existing resorts without opening up other nightmare scenarios, such as KTR owners flooding the other resorts with their massive numbers of points at the 7 month window. We'll just have to wait and see. :rolleyes1

Yes, it would all be public record but I I don't believe that agency puts its records on-line and thus you probably need to go there to see them. Note, that agency does show on-line whether a license has been approved and my check there shows Disney Vacation Development Co. has in fact gotten an approved license, as mentioned in the article, for the "Kingdom Tower Resort." Thus, I guess the acronym will be KTR not KT.

Someone needs to take a trip to view the point chart, as a public service to us all !!!!

Do a little snooping and don't forget your camera!

Well, sounds good for those of you interested... My final DVC Add-On will be in Hawaii (God willing)...

if they let the point chart be on public view.

I want think if it was it would be in the link.

thanks so much for that link!!!!

will be down there next week - but no car.:confused3

How bout we just rename it "The Outrageously Priced and Enormously High Point Cost Kingdom Tower Resort."

What a great year it will be... First, DVC at CR! Then, October baseball in Chicago - Cubs/White Sox World Series!!!!

As to "Kingdom Tower", I think it sounds too...Biblical.

Thus, if the report is accurate, it appears the intent is to make the whole thing DVC with a caveat: what you cannot tell is whether the total 281 units is the entire thing or only part of it meaning part might still be Disney hotel operations.

Does my memory serve me correctly - wasn't there an earlier Orlando Sentinel report that claimed it would be 295 units/rooms? Now they state 281 units.

I wonder if the difference of 14 rooms/units is a result of a change in construction plans, or a 14 room block of suites for cash paying guests, an erroneous report, or something else?

Yes, that's correct. My guess is there's an error in the reporting, somewhere.

We know that in time-share speak a "unit" does not equal a "room". After all Jambo House at AKV is 56 "units" but a lot more rooms than that. Could the problem be that the article is mixing the two terms? :confused3

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

best news i have heard in awhile...dont care what the point level is, will not be able to bank points anymore ..but it is way worth it to me!!!

Unless there is a restaurant on an upper floor or some other common area, I'm still thinking there will be over 300villas. If no dedicated studios and one bedrooms then I would estimate ~320. [My estimate was from last year looking at the plans in the permits and the architect drawings. I stated a rough 350 then but was assuming some dedicated units.]

There will br a restuarant on top, like California Grille is at the top of Contemporary. I recall seeing that on the renderings.

popcorn:: subscribing because this is interesting news. I'm glad they are adding a resort at the Contemporary (assuming the report is accurate). I'll be happy to try it out. Probably won't buy into it, but it will be fun to give it a whirl once.
