It's Obama/Biden!

I've heard Biden referred to as Pennsylvania's 3rd senator and of his strong support from blue collar/union voters, a group that Obama's had a hard time connecting with. I think the pick solidifies PA and can only strengthen Obama's standing in states like Michigan and Ohio.

I agree with that sentiment 100% if he picks Romney then he has a chance to win the sector of the conservative vote that refuses to vote for McCain as well as gives him some leverage to talk about the Economy being that the one good thing that Mitt is really good at besides *cough* leaving a state high and dry *cough, cough* would be business and economics. I understand that the economic issue is being down played in the polls at the moment but when futures on gas goes up again between now and November it will be important. However, if McCain picks Liberman it is over for the Republicans stick a fork in it, finished.

Ok, so what if McCain picks a woman. Like Palin? I think if McCain picks a woman, there is pretty much no chance Obama can do anything to win. He won't even be able to try to de-fame the woman because it is going to hurt with his portion of the women vote.

This is a safe and solid pick, bit I wonder why he couldnt have made real peace with Clinton and picked her, that would have assured him this election

McCain's not going to ask Gov. Palin. Thing's are so tight in the polls right now, he'd be a fool to make any sudden moves or race changing choices. It's Pawlenty, or to a lesser extent, Romney.

I agree to a point however we do still live in a somewhat patriarchal society, so I don't think it would help McCain as much as if he were to pick someone based on their track record rather than for a gimmick. Are you talking Sarah Palin from Alaska? She is as green as Obama, it wouldn't make sense for McCain to pick her, unless he wanted to look young and vibrant and willing for change. But again that is gimmick and altough people are in large dumb I don't think Palin has the name reckognition nationwide to attract additional moderate and or liberals that would have voted for HRC.

And if he picks someone more centrist then he has a chance to win the sector of the moderate vote that refuses to vote for McCain. He'll get votes whichever way he picks; it's just a matter of which way will he (1) get more votes for himself, and (2) pull more votes away from Obama.

I disagree completely. If McCain picks Lieberman, it could radically energize his campaign. He'll have a much better chance of beating Obama if he can pull votes away from Obama by appealing to moderates.

I agree with you regarding Liberman in that regards. However, for some reason people dislike Liberman, eventhough he is extremely intelligent and knows a whole lot about politics both foriegn and dopmestic. I just think that a McCain/Liberman ticket would be viewed as "old" where upon Obama's campaign could slam them with his "Change" gimmick.

I believe this pretty much loses Obama the election for sure.

Biden has a big mouth and says alot of stupid things that offend people, like he has done already.

Also, he has said on TV that if he was to lose to John McCain in the election he knows he lost to a good person, who is his friend and has the skills to be a good president.

Lastly, I believe not chosing Hillary is a huge mistake. I am no supporter of Obama at all(as seen in my sig), however I can tell you that without clinton, he is going to lose.

I figure whatever you say, the opposite is going to happen. Ya know?!

How disappointing. More politics as usual.

Ya know, that's a strange thing. McCain has a chance with the more moderate R's if he does NOT choose Romney. My in-laws and my mother would all run from McCain if he chose Romney. So-what's more important for McCain? The center or the right? It will be interesting to see where he places the importance. My mother would stand in line, in a snow storm to vote for Lieberman again. She thinks he's one of the few mostly honest politicians out there. BUT, and a big but, if McCain chooses his running mate to please the right...mommy dearest will cling to her moderate ways and vote for Obama. Btw, my mother doesn't think Obama is all that liberal. Whatever Mom. lol!

I would have been happier with Clinton....but I knew THAT wasn't going to happen.

I think Biden is a good choice.....And their off.....;)

I thought BO was going to change Washington. Seems funny he would pick a 30 year Washington veteran. Just proves once again BHO speaks one thing and does another! :sad2:

The right is more important for McCain. It's the only part of the Republican base he could count on IF he plays his cards right.

As far as Obama choosing Biden, excellent choice.

Take notice who doesn't like the Biden choice and making it known. Like they would vote for Obama if he chose J. Christ.

This is the exact opposite that I see from most conservatives. I don't know one person that I have talked to that would not be happy with Romney and would run screaming from McCain.

I agree w/this. The conservative base has been enough to win the past 2 elections and I don't see McCain going away from that--of course, it's politics and anything can happen. I am very interested to see who McCain will pick.

:thumbsup2 This is the perfect ticket! (for McCain to beat! :goodvibes )

Yes and Yes!

Yeah for the conservatives but I'm talking about moderates who are probably religious but NOT socially conservative. F.Y.I., my DFIL is retired Air Force, 73yo and having a bit of trouble settling on McCain because he's pandering to the right so hard.
Of the three-him,his wife and my mother- DFIL will be the hardest sell. If McCain goes hard right, all bets are off. My mother voted for Clinton, Gore and then a libertarian candidate. She likes McCain but NOT if he goes any more to the right. She is socially very moderate and perhaps a bit to the left. DMIL is just happy to have the right to vote, lol! She was for Hillary and now is just watching to see what happens. She likes Obama's sincerity and apparent honesty but the 'experience' thing has her bugged. Perhaps Biden's selection will help there so she sees Obama is willing to listen to the old boy camp. Funny cause that was why I didn't want Biden-old boy. Well, this WILL be an interesting election. I can't wait to hear what the students are saying by now.

My sister is still on the fence and she told me she'd never vote for Romney. I think Romney would be a bad choice for McCain but I really don't see anyone as a good choice for McCain either.

What it proves is that Barack Obama is flexible, interested in all opinions and will be a wonderful POTUS! Much better than George Rigid Bush who has no idea how to listen or learn from anyone who might have something to say. McCain is cut from the same cloth as Bush. While Obama and Biden will have a partnership the likes of Clinton/Gore, McCain and his running mate will likely have a very staid campaign, just like the old men before them with McCain being 'the Decider.' Uglch.
McCain's campaign slogan should be "Four more years!"
