I recently made a post about rides that no longer exist. My favorite was the 20K ( 20,000 leagues under the sea). In one of the replies, someone was good enough to give a link about Disney pins. I looked into it because I loved 20k and I love the pin after I saw it. I found out you cannot purchase these pins for a 30 day period. The park guests are given that period to buy if they choose. That seems fair enough ( not that I can really tell my DW and DS that I'm taking a quick 3 hour flight to Disneyworld to buy a 20K pin). Anyway, the C/S rep explained how this worked and that she said the 20K pins wouldn't even last the 30 days. THEY WERE NEARLY OUT IN TWO WEEKS! I decided to see if they really were that hard to get. I went to ebay to see what they had, and several sellers had listings. I e-mailed all three with sellers to see if this was their only one they had and recieved replies that they have more. And they were all from FLORIDA.
I know e-bay is the american way,and have used it at times, but this is a Disney issue. If Disney is offering a "limited edition pin", they need to be fair and realize that people cannot go down on a monthly basis for these pins. Assuming they do realize that, they need to be responible enough and give pin collectors ( this would not be me) a means of having an opportunity via phone to have a shot at these. Assuming there is 2500 limited pins, at least take 1000 pins and have a lottery for pin collectors from around the country to have a shot. People would need to register and have member numbers. Any sort of system. Maybe I'm missing something, but for people to be locals and buy as many pins as they please, that means Disney is leaving the true fans and collectors to fend for themselves and decide if they want to pay whatever prices the seller is asking ( or bids). It's not right. Disney needs to have a better system.
Sorry everybody, it just ticked me off.
