Hi Js & Ks!! I've been so busy today - sorry I've missed so many posts. I just don't have time to get caught up!! Finally getting packed for the trip tomorrow......... I thought FL was bad last week -- Ft Hood will be in the high 90s/low 100s while I'm there!!

Had a Mom/Daughter day with Tori -- shopping. Lord, that girl can spend (my) money!!!!

Back to packing......... leaving tomorrow morning.

Thanks! I just found out my travel schedule for the next several weeks! I will return home from this assignment on 9/15; fly out to another Base on 9/16, come home on 9/22 and head back out again 9/23, arriving home on 9/29!!! Then, hopefully, I will have a week to rest up before F&WF!!!

Bob and I are going to see our older daughter, Kathrin today! Her guy had a business trip to Richmond and she had some time off so she tagged along. It is a lot closer to Richmond (50 minutes) than to Boston (many hours) so we are taking advantage of having her close. We haven't seen her in a year!

Well my flights are set, I leave Sunday and come back Friday.

I am going to a conference where I get to speak, and demo... I know sounds like loads of fun....


But I will be flying into MCO!!!!

I am hoping that get to go to DTD a couple of evenings, but you guys know how this goes, I work so late then have happy hour with colleges and then I go to bed to start the next day!

So keeping fingers crossed that I get some Mickey time in...

We had a nice weekend, celebrated my DH's birthday on Friday night. Had dinner at a friends Saturday evening. Went shooting on Sunday! Really had a lot of fun at a new outdoor gun range, great group of people with nice facilities.

We got caught in a deluge last night going to the Pepper Market and got soaked. Everyone was so cold they didn't feel like eating. It was an adventure to say the least. But I'd rather be down here in any weather than at work so all is well

On Sunday David and I went to President Lincoln's Cottage

Located on a picturesque hilltop, President Lincoln's Cottage and Soldiers’ Home National Monument is the most significant historic site directly associated with Lincoln’s presidency aside from the White House.

During the Civil War, Lincoln resided seasonally on the grounds of the federally-owned Soldiers’ Home, just over three miles north of the Capitol. From June through November of 1862 through 1864, Lincoln and his family resided here, and Lincoln commuted daily by horseback or carriage from the Soldiers’ Home to the White House.

The Lincolns prized this breeze-swept pastoral refuge for its relative privacy yet proximity to Washington’s center. Lincoln engaged Cabinet members, political allies as well as family there, but it is most notable that he developed the policy of emancipation during his first season residing at the Soldiers’ Home.

Today, the Cottage gives Americans an intimate, never-before-seen view of Abraham Lincoln’s presidency and family life. Visitors hear stories of the many guests that met with President Lincoln at the Cottage while experiencing a new kind of historic house interpretation. In addition to President Lincoln’s Cottage, the Robert H. Smith Visitor Education Center adjacent to the Cottage, features related exhibits and media presentations.

In cooperation with the Armed Forces Retirement Home, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has preserved and restored President's Lincoln Cottage to become the premier historic site for public education about the Lincoln presidency.
