its nearly Christmas -a thread dedicated to the angst, the drama, & the joy!

:rotfl2::rotfl2:, I'm giggling at you having your decorations up for so long. I usually cannot wait to get mine up and once Christmas is over I feel like the house is closing in on me and I can't get rid of them quickly enough.

Well, not all of them are obviously Christmassy (like the patchwork angels, or the timber angels, then there are the wire reindeers on top of the bookshelf, or the little felt stocking hanging off the side of the clock...) But I do have one of those Disney christmas trees that are resin or something and you plug in and it revolves, it's sitting high on top of a cabinet as I don't want it to get broken so I figured it can stay out of its box as it looks pretty :lovestruc

But, yes, I'm itching to get started on decorating; but it's already so hot and after our white Christmas last year I don't think it'll feel the same.

This is me! Before Christmas the house feels festive but as soon as Boxing Day hits it feels cluttered;)

I have to have all my decorations down by NYE so we can start the new fresh. In truth I usually pack everything up on Boxing Day:)

Not feeling overly worried yet - though with a puppy in the house, putting a Christmas tree may be interesting.....

Our tree has been alternately decorated up to about four and a half feet, where my eldest can reach, and from three feet up, where the baby can reach. Don't know how we will go this year...the tree destroyer from last year is old enough to leave them alone, my eldest is five so I'll let him use a step ladder, but the baby is a terror, so three foot down will be out again!

Like you guys, I love, love Christmas- except for one thing, the shopping! I really dislike spending hours in shops wondering what to get people, my dd has even told me, don't just buy stuff for the sake of it, I don't want clutter in my room! I don't particularly like receiving presents either, for the same reason, although always gracious. Luckily I only have my own children to buy for as well as both our parents.

My twin boys are having their birthday next week and are asking for stuff like shoes, as they were spoilt with all our US shopping last year and is now time for new gear.

I have been considering what it would cost me to fly to LA on my own for a week, just for Xmas shopping - I am sure I could make it pay off!
The kids are on board, but I doubt DH would be!

Anyone want to make it a girls trip?

Maybe we should arrange a trip!! ( not this year, but maybe another year, wouldn't it be awesome!!)

I'm seriously considering this, mid November 2013, after dd's formal, a treat to myself for getting through the HSC!

I have discussed the possibility of taking a trip with her, but she doesn't want me hijacking her schoolies! Boo.

Now how to sweeten DH to the idea ........he will want to come too!

This would be my situation, DH wouldn't want to miss out :rotfl:

I'm exactly the same, the sooner I get them down the longer I can enjoy my Christmas Break guilt free!

I'm there! :rotfl: Unfortunately like everyone else, leaving DH behind would be difficult... :scratchin

Disney baubles are at Big W for $2 each plus other Disney types. Not a big selection (at my store anyway) but they're cute and I bought 5 anyway :)

how funny would that be...we could parade around WDW like a troop of Brazilians, matching shirts, elbows out.....I bags carrying the flag and making us all run for space mountain fast passes ...:stir:

I am trying to morph this into an eighteenth birthday/ end of school trip for dd and I, but she is not interested, says I am using her as an excuse for a holiday and would rather I buy her a car!

That girl, knows me better than I thought!
