It's my Birthday & I Celebrated! Lots of photos, food and fun! Updated 9/23

yeah! I'm still not happy about that! But oh well. I will send it in on Monday and hopefully have it back by Friday... I work the next 2 weekends though so it doesn't matter too much if it is back by friday or not.

Good point. You will need to acclimate back into the overworked schedule.

Hello everyone. My time in Disneyland is complete. At this moment I am sitting at the airport waiting for my flight home. I never thought I would say this but I was ready to leave and can't wait to get home! I will probably be saying the opposite in a few days!!
I usually feel that way after a DLR trip, unless it's just a 1-day-er like we did in May. Then a few weeks go by, and I miss it something awful! :wizard:

Paula - I'm here, too.:cool1:

I'm particularly interested in your TR because of your marathon DLR trip and stay at the PPH. Even though I have stayed at PPH many times in the past, my upcoming late November/early December trip is going to be my longest stay to date - a marathon trip for me both in number of days in the parks and nights at the PPH. This will be my longest DLR visit, ever.

Last December I was at PPH for my usual 3 nights, took tons of photos on the trip, etc., and it was just long enough to leave me wanting more but not be sick of everything. Still I felt like there were quite a few things I didn't see & do. So I decided to make a really long trip this year.

Not only do I know I will probably run out of pep and have a variety of blisters on my feet after a few days in on this upcoming trip, I'm actually wondering if I will be anxious to leave and get home. I wonder if I will just be sick to death of the PPH & DLR in general at that point, or if I will kind of settle in and get used to it, feeling odd when it comes time to leave! It could go either way for me! I know I could get into a bit of 'overload' just being in the parks themselves after several days in, so I try to break it up by spending a lot of time in DTD and at all 3 hotels.

Anyway, I'm very interested to read about how you spent all of your time over your long trip, and how your interest may or may not have waned over the course of the days!

Yes... I am not doing a very good job it so far...

I've always left feeling like there was so much more I wanted to do... I didn't do that this time. We will see how long it takes me to be wishing I was back there!

I will definitely be sharing my feelings about doing such a long trip. I will say I was definitely not sick to death of being at DLR, just tired and worn out...

Patiently waiting Miss Paula :)

Patience my girl patience! I have TONS of photos! I started with close to 4000 and have already deleted about 300 that were just too blurry to include. I have a lot of similar photos so will have to decide which one to include. Right now I am simply working on getting them oriented in the right direction and deleting the really bad ones so I can get them uploaded.

I probably won't get that finished till after I get my laptop back next week.... we will see if I can get the first day posted before I send my laptop off but I am not promising anything!

Hello Everyone!

I was going to wait to start this trip report when I get my laptop back from repair next week but I have decided to as least get a little bit started!

I don't remember how much I posted in the couple days prior to leaving so I am going to backup to Saturday June 4th.

While I was at work in the wee hours of Saturday morning my hubby texted me that our oldest dog was not doing well. He said she was shaking and she couldn't walk. I started crying while at work and struggled to finish my shift. When I got home from work I went into the bedroom and she was sleeping next to my hubby as usual and she didn't appear to be shaking so I left the room to let them sleep. When my hubby finally woke up we tried to put her on the floor and she tried to walk but it was if her back legs had no strength. Unfortunately it was now close to noon on a Saturday and most Vets offices were closed. I called some I found online but they didn't have any openings. I finally reached one that had a 2pm appt time. We headed to the appt and were there for quite some time. They finally stated that she most likely had a ruptured disk and it was compressing her spine so she was essentially mostly paralyzed on her hind quarters. They did some blood work and gave us a prescription for an anti-inflammatory.

By the time we got home is was almost 5pm and I was supposed to work that night. I knew if I asked for the night off (we are allowed to request off and then if they are overstaffed it is granted) that I wouldn't get it. Since I am able to work 3 different units it seems whenever I request the shift off they always float me even though my main unit is overstaffed.

Thankfully my prayers had come true and I received the call offering the night off! Phew! I didn't have to go into work on just a few hours of sleep and worried about our dog!

The following day was Sunday and I finished my packing and tried to make sure I had everything in order. I didn't have very many shirts to wear while there though so I wanted to go to Kohl's and check the clearance for some deals. I ended up getting 6 shirts for $24 after some Kohl's cash I had and a 15% savings certificate. I had then planned to get some Soy yogurt for my friend and some Disney gift cards from Safeway to use for food while in DL so that was on my list of to-do's however my hubby texted me saying he wanted some lunch so instead of Safeway next it was off to Togo's.

In the evening I still hadn't made it to Safeway when my Mother-in-law asked if I would go get her a frozen yogurt. Sure, no problem. The frozen yogurt place is near the Safeway so I will go to Safeway first and then get the frozen yogurt. Unfortunately that took a little longer than I thought it would so I was hurrying to get my MIL her yogurt and as I was getting out of the car my cellphone slipped out of my hand and onto the driveway. Now normally this is not an issue. I have dropped my phone MANY times and never had a problem. Unfortunately this time it must have hit a pebble just right as the glass just SHATTERED! My cellphone of course is not a cheap cellphone but an iPhone 4!

This is what is looked like!

So I call the Apple store but the genius bar is closed for the night and that is the only way to get it replaced. Great! I am TOTALLY stressing out at this point. The only Genius bar appts in the morning are to close to my flight time and my flight cannot be changed without paying a much higher fare.... So I start looking up Apple stores in the Anaheim area to see if I can get it done while I am there. The closest one to DL would likely be about 30 or more minutes away. However there was one about 4 miles from the airport! I made an appt for 12:20. I figured my flight gets in at 11:50am I will grab a taxi to the Apple Store. Get me phone replaced and get back to the airport. My friends flight was getting in at 12:15 so she would have to wait but hopefully not for too long! I had been talking to her in the morning and the plan was okay to her so that is what did. My friend grabbed my bags for me so they weren't left going around on the carousel and I got my phone fixed (replaced).

So now back to the beginning of the day. The flight was uneventful for me. My friend was supposed to have 2 stops but only change planes once but ended up having to change planes in Albuquerque and ended up delayed leaving there. Thankfully her layover in Phoenix was long enough to accommodate the change. I arrived at SNA right on time. Ran out of the airport. Grabbed a taxi. Hightailed it to the Apple Store. Checked in for my appt and proceeded to wait! and wait! So much for having an appt! I was finally seen around 12:30 and after paying $200 was given a new phone. I also needed to buy a screen protector for my phone. Unfortunately the 2 items had to be rang up separately. The first transactions went through on my CC but the second one was declined! :scared1: I knew I had open credit on the card as it was paid off before I left home! I used another card to pay and they transferred my contacts on my phone and I was out of there. I now needed a taxi to get back to the airport. I spot the concierge desk and say "I need a taxi" the guy replies when. I said "NOW!" So the guy calls the taxi company and tells me 5-10 minutes. I go to wait outside and the taxi is there within a minute or so. I get in the taxi and say I need the SNA airport arrivals. He says he can bring me to departures but not arrivals as he is not a Airport taxi. I said fine. While in the taxi I try and look up my account info on my Credit Card and get a message that I cannot access the site and need to contact them. I get out of the taxi and find my way back down to baggage claim. On my way down to baggage claim my phone rings. It is my CC calling to verify my recent purchases! Yes... all those charges were mine. Okay good to go. I can use my card again! I look for my friend and see her sitting outside talking on the phone. I approach her and she hangs up the phone. We hug and go find our Super Shuttle. The shuttle only had 2 seats left so she sat in the back and I sit in the front. Finally we are off to the Paradise Pier Hotel! I expected to be dropped off first as according to the Super Shuttle website Disney hotels were first to be dropped off. Um... not to be the case! We stopped at the Hyatt, the Portofino and I think one other place first! Finally we were dropped off. We go in to check in and after a short wait it is our turn. Our room is READY! (It was around 1:15ish) I get a balloon and we go up to our room.

Our room before all our stuff invaded!

My friend!

The comforter!
ry%3D400

We settle in. Put our stuff away and then I think about the groceries that were supposed to be delivered between 1 and 2. I called down to Bell Services and no they hadn't been delivered. Okay. No problem. Not 2pm yet... We sit and chitchat. Okay getting close to 2pm. I want to head to DL for the 4pm parade! It's now after 2 and still no groceries. I call back down to Bell Services. Nope. Not delivered yet. I then call Von's to find out what is going on. They try and reach the driver. No avail. So we sit and relax and visit some more. Finally its 3pm and after several conversations with Von's our groceries are delivered. So much for having a delivery window!

We go downstairs to get the groceries to find everything bagged individually in plastic bags (can anyone say a waste!) We go to take the bell cart up to the room and they say we can't use it it is for staff use only. Okay. Can you bring them up? They say not for about 30 minutes. :confused3 Okay. So we grab as much as we can and carry it up to our room. We had to make 2 trips as I had ordered bottled water. After the second trip we put everything away and decide to make our way to the Disneyland Hotel for the reservation at Goofy's Kitchen since it was too late to make the parade at this point.

Hopefully I have had enough stuff go wrong before leaving home and up to this point that the rest of the trip will be flawless!!

We headed to the Disneyland hotel.

The sun was not in a good spot!
ry%3D400

We hung out in the lobby area for awhile as it was quite early yet.

ry%3D400

I then see other people checking in so decide we should as well. I go to give my name and they can't find my reservation! Finally she found it but under a different screen or something.... I ask if they have any buttons as we didn't get any from the PPH. I wanted a Birthday Button and my friend a First Visit Button. (She had been to DL for ONE day in 1999 but never to DCA so we figured it was like her first visit!). Unfortunately she didn't have a Sharpie so my button had no name on it!

We go have a seat to wait and out comes Goofy!

ry%3D400

We are the second group to get our photo!
ry%3D400

We are then also the second group to be seated!

Too be continued!

Please tell me it gets better. Your trip is starting to sound more like a bad dream I would have. Anyway, I am coming along for the ride!

You know, I actually really like the photo of the Sorcerer's hat with the sun shining through - at first it seems like the sun in a bad spot, but it actually gives it a new dimension that the usual Hat photos don't have. I think that was one of those lucky accidents that seemed like it would be unlucky.

I love love love the look of the new PPH rooms! I can see they kept some of their old accents but mixed them with the new stuff. I had seen the comforters and such in Laurie's photos but I don't think I saw or noticed the beach ball pillow thingy on the bed before now! That is an adorable touch. I got one of the regular, non-refurbed rooms last December, but the view was great so I can live without the other stuff. This year I am hoping that all the rooms have been redecorated and I will get one of those rooms when I am next there.

Your story about Vons - welcome to my world!:rotfl2: I don't know about the service in Anaheim, but for years (yes, years!) I have had service like that from Vons where I live here in L.A. They only started to greatly improve in the last year or so, but prior to that I had problems with almost every delivery. When they finally started to lose business because of the economy or whatever, their service suddenly got better. Hmmm...

If I keep my long PPH reservation for December, I was thinking that I may very well order from Vons too. I drink a lot of water so, if for no other reason, that would be worthwhile. I can see I will have a challenge on my hands in terms of the delivery situation. Heck, for all I know, if I try to order from Vons in Anaheim it might mess up my current account for my L.A. deliveries!

Hope your luck gets better on this trip and that you enjoyed your second visit to Goofy's!

Hooray for a new TR! Wow, what a flurry of not-so-good things happening early on. Hopefully it gets better from here on out. :wizard: How's your dog?

The room looked very nice and can't wait to read more of your TR. Hope it gets better.

Yeah. I was for the first time in my life scared to fly. I figured with all that had gone wrong in the previous weeks. (My car also needs some expensive repairs!) that something was bound to go wrong with the plane! Thankfully we arrived safely!
The trip definitely does get better!

The only photos I have deleted are the ones that are so blurry you cannot tell what I took a photo of. I figure all the rest are at least a part of my memories!

What a nightmare having to deal with the Von's delivery not coming on time regularly! I picked that delivery window for a reason! They shouldn't offer the short windows if they can't deliver during that time! My friend and I discussed this and we figure the driver knew check-in time was 3pm so just figured he would wait till then to bring our stuff but we had been there and room was ready so we just had to wait...

The PPH rooms are really nice. We really enjoyed the room and found it plenty roomy and comfortable.!

Hooray for a new TR! Wow, what a flurry of not-so-good things happening early on. Hopefully it gets better from here on out. :wizard: How's your dog?

Our little girl is about the same. We have to hold up her back to she can eat and go outside. Otherwise she is supposed to be on bedrest.

The room looked very nice and can't wait to read more of your TR. Hope it gets better.

More to come!

Rough start to your trip but I have to imagine being at the Happiest Place on Earth that things turned around quickly!!!!

Aren't the PPH rooms nice??? I loved our stay there!! So bright & comfy!!

Can't wait for the next installment!

The PPH rooms are wonderful! I hope to stay there again sometime but that may be in my dreams...

I last left off with us being taken into Goofy's Kitchen. We had a table on the far side of the restaurant away from the entrance. Our table was on the other side of a wall near the buffet.

We both ordered some Ice Tea and then went to fill our plates. I snapped a few pictures of the food. (Sorry they are a little dark... It's a new camera and I don't know all the settings!)

I should mention that my friend had been on Allergy injections for awhile before the trip to try and get rid of her food allergies and she was very happy that she was able to eat what she wanted without any stomach issues!

I kept this post to include just the food as the character photos are plentiful!

Our first character sighting was Rafiki!! I snapped this picture as he walked right past us!

ry%3D400

It was okay that he walked right by though as we hadn't grabbed any food yet and we were kinda hungry!

Once we had our food he stopped back by

And used our heads as his table...

Remember that wall I mentioned we were seated next to? The characters loved it!

Followed by Princess Jasmine

We informed Jasmine that our Princes were back home. She asked if they were back in Agraba and we agreed lol.

And some more Pluto!

Finally our last visitor as we were finishing up was the Fairy Godmother.
ry%3D400

When she approached me she saw that I did not have a name on my Birthday Button. She asked why not and I said that they did not have a Sharpie at the front so I would need to find one later. She then proceeded to pull a sharpie out of her outfit as if it were her wand!

And Ta-Da.. my button now had my name!
ry%3D400

My thoughts on this character meal.... The character interaction was great! I only captured a few of the photos but we had a lot of fun with the characters. They were very interactive with us!

The food. It was good. I felt that it was not very hot but I think part of that is the fact that we were concentrating on the characters and not wanting to miss them so our food cooled down as it sat on our plates. Most of the food had good flavor. We were definitely happy with the food and characters this time around! I was happy we had started out our trip here!

You saw some different characters at Goofy's!! We've seen Pluto & Jasmine, but not Rafiki or Fairy Godmother at this meal. Glad to hear you had good interaction with them because our last trip we didn't & left very disappointed. Love seeing the food porn.........makes me excited to get back down there!!

I met that same Jasmine on my last DLR visit :goodvibes I am usually very bad at recognizing faces but I guess her's stood out.
And I love how the Fairy Godmother had a sharpie! How perfect!

Love your TR so far!:thumbsup2

I am with Sherry on liking the sun through the hat picture. That adds an element I have never seen.

I love the whole sharpie thing with the Fairy Godmother and it is good enough to make me wonder if it is part of a routine for her.

Great start Paula! I adore GK. I think I sat at the same spot one. It was fun to see the characters pop up from behind that wall :goodvibes
