It's Magical! A 10yr Anniv Dining Report with Extras! Updated 9/4!!!

Your meal looked amazing at Citricos and your special dessert looks heavenly. I'm not into that type of broths soup either and it didn't look like a mushroom soup to me, but more like an onion soup minus the yummy crouton and melted cheese. Maybe they should of added cheese? Everything's better with cheese : )
Very curious how your anniversary dinner ended up so looking forward to reading along about that evening.

We never been to the lounge at DHS but love onion rings and a cocktail so will have to check it out on our first couple trip coming up in November.

( and back a bit but I agree pirates at Disneyland is a fabulous longer ride, and I love the outside of haunted mansion and Its's a small world original only to Disneyland )

Thanks for including us all in on your Anniversary celebration!!

Yes, we do indeed do the same touring style :thumbsup2 Drink, do something, drink, repeat....:rotfl:

For our DHS day I think we will try to do shows (and hit up 50s Prime Time) since we are going to the ToT 10-miler after party where we can do the rides.

Loving these reviews! I really want to try Paradiso on a non-DDP trip, because so many of the apps look great and none of the entrees stand out. That crazy corn looks amazing!!

As of today and of course, subject to change we are going to Rose & Crown (must do every trip for us, won't change), California Grill (again, won't change), Le Cellier (Jay's request so probably won't change) and Citricos.

Also planning on at least appetizers at Paradiso 37 and the Grand Floridian Tea. As you can probably imagine, Jay is looking forward to P37 and tolerating the idea of the tea. ;) Planning to maybe try Splitsville and the Jiko Wine Tour/AKL food tour.

We will be there nine nights arriving late on Friday 9/26 and leaving later in the afternoon on Sunday 10/5. Since it is Food & Wine, I am anxious to be able to book some of the events. Glad to see they are bringing back the Parisian Breakfast as that is something we both want to do. Planning to spend most of 4 afternoons enjoying the booths, etc.

And lastly, we are hoping to do two Halloween Party's ... one relaxed to enjoy the shows, parade & fireworks and the other to run around like crazy and get as many character pictures as we can!

It is a jammed packed trip. Definitely will need a vacation after my Disney vacation as we probably won't get home til 2am Sunday night (actually Monday morning) and I do have to work Monday. Jay will take the day off to tackle the laundry! :laundy:

Don't we all always need a vacation after our Disney Vacations?!!

We will likely overlap you by a few days so you'll have to tell me what days you have what scheduled.

And I forgot to say, belated Happy Anniversary! :cloud9:

Our 23rd is tomorrow! Of course it is the lacrosse team picnic so we are putting off celebrating until next Friday night (which is also pay day!) so we can try a new restaurant in town with a very Disney signature like menu! Andrew actually ate there last night with his girlfriend's family and he said we will love the food but not the price tag! Definitely Disney Like!

Happy belated anniversary to you! I wasn't online yesterday as I worked a double shift! :scared1:

I actually said this wrong, what I meant was that I wish we had switched Yachtsman for Citricos. But it was actually funnier this way...Yachtsman instead of Citricos for your anniversary dinner??? :lmao:

Oh!! Yes.. If only we had known! We know now!

Your meal at Citricos looks very good, but I especially love the look of that dessert! And you're definitely right about the dessert menu at Citricos - besides one or two things that have come and gone, literally every dish has remained the same for years.

When its the same dessert menu 5 years later it really is time for a change.. even just a small one would be nice! The V&A's dessert was divine!

Hey.. I think some onions in that soup might actually have improved it! Then it would have at least a different flavor contrast!

Stay tuned for the Anniversary... although that might be awhile!!

Definitely check out the Tune-in lounge! Although its small so sometimes hard to get a seat.

Yes, we do indeed do the same touring style :thumbsup2 Drink, do something, drink, repeat....:rotfl:

Love that touring style! I think that is why Hunter can do without going to the MK lol. Use at least your FP+ for one of the tier one rides though! the shows don't really need FP+ as they have lots of seating capacity.

Loving these reviews! I really want to try Paradiso on a non-DDP trip, because so many of the apps look great and none of the entrees stand out. That crazy corn looks amazing!!

Yes.. We really are app people and that is one of the reasons the TIW works for us over DDP. Plus we generally don't do that much dessert!

Upon settling our bill at the Tune In Lounge we headed out to catch a boat to Epcot. In the fall we really enjoy the Eat to the Beat concerts so wanted to enjoy some Flower Power ones! Unfortunately they are only on weekends in the spring so not as many available! I had thought we would catch 2 concerts this trip but I completely spaced on the second one so the the one we were heading to would be it!

So who was playing?!?!

ry%3D400

Herman’s Hermits featuring Peter Noone

Yeah.. I had no clue! I did recognize a few of the songs but Hunter said they may not have been their songs lol.

It was still a fun time regardless!

Selfies while we wait!
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Then it was time to start the show!

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

After the show we headed towards the front of the park to head back to the resort…

But first..

A Stop in Germany!

Who is surprised?!?!

ry%3D400

They didn’t even fill them up!
ry%3D400

It’s an Apfel shot for me and a Barenjaeger for Hunter.

We then proceeded on our walk to the front of the park.

We had decided we would eat there for tonight and check out Boatwrights. Since we didn’t have an ADR we were told it would be a 45minute wait. Ok that is fine, we will go next door to the River Roost and have a drink.

ry%3D400

This is called a Washington Apple
(Crown, Apple Pucker, Grenadine… I think)

The first time I had one of these was at Citrico’s and I really enjoyed it. This time I was tasting too much of the Crown so it wasn’t as pleasant a drink to me.

We also decided since we had some time we would grab an appetizer there. This time we went with the Nacho’s
ry%3D400

These were pretty simple but I really enjoyed them!

We finished our nachos and drinks and went to check on our table as it had passed the 45minute wait time. They said we would be the next ADR table to be seated.

After sitting waiting another 10 minutes we decided to head to the Quick Serve and see if there was anything we wanted there…

Just as we were perusing the menu our buzzer finally went off.

We went back to check in and were shown to our table…. In a practically empty dining room!!!

This was pretty irksome after waiting so long!

However, onto the food.

Here is the menu
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Complimentary Corn Bread and Butter
ry%3D400

We both decided to start with salads

ry%3D400

Seasonal Spinach Salad with Champagne Viniagrette for me.
I did not like this salad. Something on it was just hurting my tongue. Not sure what it was as it had all ingredients I like.

ry%3D400

Romaine Salad for Hunter

And this salad caused our second issue with the restaurant. When I make ADR’s in advance I always note his allergy so we don’t run into trouble. Here I did not note it so when he ordered he asked what the House Dressing was on the Romaine Salad (as it sounded like a Caesar Salad and he can’t have Caesar Dressing) They said it was a Green Goddess dressing, and then asked “Why” Well because he can’t have seafood. We then proceeded to get a lecture about noting allergies.. Yes, we usually do that but we didn’t this one time as we can usually tell if something is off limits to him. The lecture continues and then the Chef came out and continued it some more… Okay, we got it.. mention the allergy! Proceed please! So in the end he got his salad with I think Blue Cheese dressing.

We then decided to share our entrée of Prime Rib with Horseradish Mash and Collard Greens
ry%3D400

Hmmm… in looking at the picture of the menu I realized they didn’t give us the Red Wine Demi-glaze! We did get some Jus to go with the steak though.

The prime-rib and mash were pretty good! However! Between the LONG wait only to find no one in the dining room and the lecture on his allergy this is not a place we want to return to.

We finished off our night with one more visit with YeeHa Bob! I apparently took no pictures or video’s this night though! Definitely another fun time and looking forward to seeing Bob in October!

The fried chicken and onion rings at 50's are delicious, I never thought of stopping at the Tune-In Lounge and ordering them there. That child-size portion looks ideal! :thumbsup2

Bummer about your meal at Boatwright's. I'd be irked too if not one, but two different people felt the need to lecture me about my food allergy! Explain it once and move on people!

Not sure about the tongue hurting part, but otherwise your salad looks really good and so does the corn bread. However, Hunter's salad looks kind of pitiful, especially for $9.00, which was $2 more than your's. :confused3 And don't get me started on the prime rib. :sad2: But then again, prime rib generally grosses me out. So anyway, I think I would skip Boatwright's and go directly to River Roost to see Yehaa Bob. ;)

Eek, the luggage issue has always been a fear of mine. I wouldn't care as much coming home but going there... not cool.

And the lecture does seem completely unnecessary. Like, you didn't mention it once and you understand why it's important. If they told you once that's enough.

Boatwright's is a place I've always wondered about, but we've never made it over there. I don't think we will either. But it seems like a nice resort to pay a visit to in the evening, maybe after dinner elsewhere.

Sounds like an ok meal... I would have been happy just with the nachos from the lounge.

I have to say that this prime rib looks far better than what I received at YSH. ;)

I want Yeehaw Bob proof lady! :rotfl2:

We love the Tune-in for a quick break from the sun and a drink (with being able to use the TIW discount!) And you can order anything off the menu there as well. The children's portions are awesome!

Exactly, I think we understand his allergy by now!

Ha-HA.. yes, his salad did look a little pitiful! I didn't even realize it cost more than mine! I LOVE prime-rib and this was pretty good. The service and long wait to find an empty room just turned us off. And it was LOUD in there! We couldn't even hear each other.

Enjoying the review! :)

Thank you!

Welcome! It only required a simple explanation of the fact that the dressing had anchovies in it as it was a Caesar Dressing and NOT a Green Goddess...

Note to self ... Not going to boatwrights, yikes! But the prime rib looks yummy : )

The Prime-rib was yummy.. And I MIGHT go back if I wasn't with my husband and I had an ADR to get me seated in a timely manner. He holds a grudge on those types of things more than I do :goodvibes

It is a BEAUTIFUL resort... I might book the carriage ride they offer this upcoming trip. Would be a good way to spend some time before going to see Bob!

Sounds like an ok meal... I would have been happy just with the nachos from the lounge.

Yes, if we hadn't shared the Nachos we might have been okay with just that. I think at this point we had successfully stretched our stomachs and were able to eat a lot more! :rotfl2:

The Prime-rib was good and yes... looks a million times better than yours!

I have never been to BW, but the prime rib does look quiet good.

It was GOOD. I don't deny that. The other issues just outweighed that point for us.

April 27th was a resort change day. (And I apologize this is wordy with no pictures to start!) Originally I had planned to have Bell Services collect all our bags and we would head to Animal Kingdom for some fun with the animals! However, we ended up having to move some items ourselves due to it needing refrigeration. Unfortunately I have just learned that they could have refrigerated the items for us saving us the headache! But anyways. We got up, packed, and ready. Called Bell Services for most of our items and then headed to the bus stop with our last suitcase.

We took a bus to Hollywood Studios (It was the first to arrive) and then a bus to the Wilderness Lodge. We approached the desk and were delighted to find out our room was ready! Since we were staying on RCI exchange I only had to pay $95 to Disney at check-in. I had a $500 Gift Card though and I asked if the balance could be left on the account to charge against. They informed me that they could no longer do that as they cannot give a refund if there is a balance at the end. I said.. Believe me! There will not be a balance but they refused to allow me to leave the credit. I then said.. “Well, can I use your magical sharpie then so I can write on the card how much is left” Hunter busts out laughing and goes… “Did you just call the sharpie Magical?” I said, “yes I guess I did! It’s Disney! Everything is Magical!” pixiedust: So there you got the reason for the title of this report! Saying things were magical continued throughout the trip but that was the first time and it was just so funny because it was a SHARPIE I was referring too!

About this time Barb snuck up behind us! :crowded: She had arrived and was checked in! We gathered all our items and moved to the side so we could talk a bit. We couldn’t talk long though as we wanted to get our items in the fridge and head out to our lunch. We agreed to meet on the boat dock to head to dinner around 6pm.

Hunter and I then proceeded to check out our room. I had done on-line check-in for this room and had made 3 requests. A High Floor, Near the Elevator, Woods View…

We were on the First Floor, down a long hallway nowhere near the elevator and saw plenty of trees but it was a grassy area right outside our patio doors. Strike out on the room requests!

Quickly putting the items in the fridge we turned around and headed back to the bus stop. We grabbed an AK bus and transferred to an AKL bus. We are always confused at which stop to get off here so we made sure we were at the right place before departing.

We soon found ourselves here.

Our buzzer went off after not too long of a wait and we were seated at a middle of the room table. No window seats for us. :(

Hunter’s menu was a little different as it excluded all shellfish items
ry%3D400

I already knew the main thing I wanted to order and then we decided on a second item to share.

We went with the bread service
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

And an appetizer sampler
ry%3D400

We were also brought some champagne to toast our anniversary.
ry%3D400

The server volunteered to get a picture of us
ry%3D400

We then dug into our food!

The Bread service was OUTSTANDING! Absolutely loved it!!

The Appetizer sampler was good. It has Samosa’s, Lamb Sliders and Chana Tikka

The Samosa’s had a little bit of heat to them but very tasty. The Chana Tikka had really good flavor and were moist. The Lamb Sliders had great flavor but were really overcooked and a bit dry.

For dessert we went with the server’s recommendation and got the Shahi Tukra, Indian Style Bread Pudding with spiced vanilla sauce.

ry%3D400

I absolutely LOVED this! I kept telling myself to stop eating it as I was full but I couldn’t because it was SO GOOD! I’m really hoping it is still on the menu in October!

After leaving the restaurant we headed back to the front to head back to our resort. I can’t remember which bus we took this time but just before 4 we were back in our room. I called luggage services to bring our transferred bags over only to discover that they were NOT there yet. I said, we were told they would be transferred by now. They said yes, but they aren’t here… so we proceeded to wait, and wait, and wait some more… About 2 hours later and several phone calls we finally had our bags! We quickly changed for dinner and headed to the boat dock to meet back up with Barb.

You all are so adventurous ... Going on 2 buses for appetizers : ) Your awesome and fun, you go!!!

The bread service is probably my favorite thing at Sanaa - glad you loved it. I like how 2 of the accompaniments are really spicy, but even the others are quite flavorful. The bread pudding also looks really good! If I could stop myself from ordering the dessert trio (with an extra chai cream in place of something else), that looks like a solid option. :thumbsup2
