It's Happening One Way Or The Other! - Oct 2016 PTR - Updated 10/11 - Single Digit Dance

This week has been a busy busy Disney week. Here we go.

Movie Nights

I apologize ahead of time because I didn't take pictures of either of the last 2 movie nights. BAD TATER!

Movie Night #3: The Incredibles

DH's other favorite movie. I had a terrible time thinking of a themed menu for this. We ended up just having breakfast because we're adults & we can. I made scrambled eggs, oven baked bacon, and DH made biscuits. I also made a yogurt parfait because I didn't want any biscuits. We also discussed our FP+ selections because our reservation window opened this past Saturday.

Bonus Movie Night:

Sunday, there wasn't really anything on TV so DH and I popped in the Disney Planning DVD. I think the one I have is the outdated one but it still got us hyped up for some of our favorite rides.

Movie Night #4: Toy Story

Tonight was Toy Story. The menu was Rex's Dinosaur Steaks, Mr. Potato Head's baked potato bar, and a mini chocolate birthday cake for dessert. I also made myself some collard greens with bacon for my veggie. I love Toy Story and I bawl like a baby during the 3rd one.

Next week's movie(s): Pirates of the Caribbean. I don't know which ones we're watching or what we'll be eating but I know we'll have fun either way.

Crafts/DIY

Things are coming along pretty nicely. Window decorations are 99% done, luggage tags are 50% done, mousekeeping envelopes are about 25% done. My Halloween costume though....aye aye aye.

I did manage to get the flower for my hair from a seller on etsy and I'm in love with it. I decided to make my shirt using spray fabric paint. I laid out all of my supplies, got my latex gloves on, and started to spray my little heart out. Sprayed one coat and it didn't hardly cover anything. Sprayed another coat with the same reaction. Sprayed a few more coats and this happened.

IMG_0791.JPG

EPIC. FAIL!!

Researched some other ways to make the shirt and then went to buy another red short sleeve t-shirt. Found plenty of pastel & neon short sleeve but no red. Went to another store...plenty of red long sleeve shirts but no short sleeve. I was so frustrated at that point, I came home & bought 2 off the internet. *sigh* The shirts came in the mail yesterday so hopefully I'll get it finished this weekend along with all the other crafts.

Vacation Attire

This week I got all of our clothes for the trip taken care...almost. I still need to buy another sports bra and we both need new tennis shoes. DH got 2 more pairs of shorts, as did I. We also got the rest of our shirts made or purchased.

Trip plans update coming right up!!

Flights

We finally got our flights booked!!! Now I can finally tell ya'll the back story. With my position at work, I get certain perks...mainly because my boss can be really difficult to work for & he's fully aware of it. Usually it's free lunches, chances to "work from home", getting to work whatever hours I want. One day a few months ago, we were discussing my vacation & all the chances that were going on with my position and long story short, my boss offered to let us use some of his frequent flyer miles for our flights!! I was completely shocked by this but that also meant that the booking was out of my hands. Well, after some gentle prodding (hahaha), he finally gave me the go-ahead over the weekend.

We are flying Delta for the first time ever & I'm already stressing out about it. For one thing, you all are aware I'm very much Pooh sized so I'm stressing about the size of the seats. My boss gave permission to book Delta Comfort which allows for more leg room but not wider seats. I'm just hoping they don't kick me off the plane or something.

Secondly, we are NOT flying non-stop. We have an hour and half layover in Atlanta both ways. This leads me to be stressing over whether or not we'll make the connecting flight and whether or not our luggage will get lost. I'm seriously debating mailing our luggage to the resort instead of checking it.

I know I'm probably worried over nothing but flying always makes me like this. That's why I drink. (Just kidding...maybe).

Park Plans

Because RoL still hasn't been announced and the Star Wars Dessert Party hasn't opened for our dates yet AND we all know Disney will more than likely change park hours again before then, I'm not even going to claim these are in any way, shape, or form final. But I think they are pretty close.

October 19:

Our flight leaves at 6 am with a layover in Atlanta. We land at MCO at 11:21 am and we'll take the ME to AsMo. I've requested an early check in but if we don't get it, we'll just check our bags at the resort and head to DHS. We have dinner ADR at 50's Prime Time at 5:05 pm. Depending on when we get to DHS, we might try to take in a ride or two beforehand.

After dinner, we'll head to MK for EMH. We'll have our first DIS Meet, ride as many rides as possible before we crash, and use the following FP+:

7:30-8:30 pm Peter Pan's Flight
8:45-9:45 pm Pirates of the Caribbean

October 20:

I made no ADRs for this day because we are planning on pigging out at F&W. A friend of mine that just recently moved to Florida is talking about joining us and there is another possible DIS Meet in the works.

9:25-10:25 am Living With The Land
10:55-11:55 am Soarin'
8:10-9 pm The Seas with Nemo

October 21:

Breakfast ADR at Ohana at 7:30 am and then taking the bus to DHS.

9:55-10:55 Star Tours
10:55-11:55 MuppetVision

Lunch ADR at SciFi at 12:20 pm.

1:40-2:40 pm Toy Story Mania

If the Star Wars Dessert Party extends into this day, I'll also be booking it as a surprise for DH's birthday. If not, we may just head back to our resort early or go to Disney Springs for some dinner & shopping.

October 22:

ADR at Tusker House at 8:10 am

9:30-10:30 am It's Tough To Be A Bug
11:05-12:05 pm Kilimanjaro Safaris
2:20-3:20 pm Expedition Everest

Another DIS Meet is in the works for this morning. Hopefully RoL will be open by then but if not, it's another early resort/Disney Springs night.

October 23:

9:10-10:10 am Rock N Roller Coaster
10:10-11:10 am Tower of Terror
12:00 Frozen Sing-Along

ADR at 4 pm for Minnie's Holiday Dine Fantasmic Package.

October 24:

Crystal Palace ADR at 8:05 am

10:00-11:00 am Jungle Cruise
11:35-12:35 pm Seven Dwarf's Mine Train
12:40-1:40 pm Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

Hoping to catch the Festival of Fantasy Parade, Move It Shake It Street Party, as well as Wishes on this day as well.

October 25:

9:25-10:25 am Spaceship Earth
10:25-11:25 am Test Track
11:25-12:25 pm Figment

Leave EPCOT by 3:30 pm at the latest and then off to MK.

ADR at Liberty Tree at 4:00 pm. Change into our costumes & party MNSSHP style!

October 26:

ADR at Whispering Canyon at 7:30 am
Shopping at Disney Springs & grabbing a quick lunch there.
Back to resort by 3-3:30 pm to catch the Tragical Express.
Flight leaves MCO at 7:25 pm with another layover in Atlanta and arrives back home at 11:19 pm.

The next morning, I will be thrust back into my non-Disney reality until it's time to plan the next trip. As always, if you have any suggestions/opinions/comments on our plans, please feel free to do so!

Another week has passed, which means one week closer to our trip!

Movie Night: Pirates of the Caribbean

We debated watching all the movies in order but chose At World's End, even though cable had been playing it over and over again. I couldn't really find any menus online that we liked so I made a Pirate's Feast instead: roasted chicken with potatoes, collard greens for me, rolls, and chocolate cake for dessert. I wanted to make crockpot baked apples but I forgot to buy apple juice so that was out. While we watched the movie, we went over what supplies we still needed to buy.

Shopping:

This past Sunday, we went to one of our local outlet malls and picked up some new tennis shoes for the trip. Pasta wanted a pair of Converse so we went headed there first. He found a pair right off the bat and not only were they on clearance, but they were also another 30% off. So we only ended up spending $17 on his shoes. I knew I wanted another pair of Skechers but the Skechers store was so picked over & crowded, I didn't find anything I liked. We hit up some other stores & made some more purchases (Disney Store, Lane Bryant, Hot Topic, Toys R Us). Because it was on way our way out, we stopped at Nike & Famous Footwear. I finally found a pair I liked and that fit fairly well at Famous. They were on sale but I still spent more than what I wanted, which irritated me. But at least we have new shoes so that's one more thing crossed off the list.

DIY Projects:

I started working on my Halloween costume over the weekend and I'm very happy with the way it's turning out. I have to pick up some more supplies but I should be done with it by Sunday night.

I finally finished our luggage tags that we'll use for our park bags & extra luggage. I also finished our Mousekeeping envelopes.
DSC_0003.JPG DSC_0006.JPG

I also finished all the window decorations except for the backdrop. I bought the supplies for that tonight so I'll also finish it this weekend.

Trip Plans:

In case you haven't heard, they have extended hours at AK & HS, as well as extended the Star Wars fireworks show. I kept checking all week and finally at the beginning of this week, they extended the Star Wars Dessert Party too. Woohoo! And they are having the dessert party on the one HS day I had it penciled in. Double Woohoo! So on Friday, I will book this for Pasta's birthday surprise. Hopefully he likes it. He loves chocolate, Rice Krispie treats, and sugar cookies so we should be okay. Plus I think he will appreciate the reserved firework viewing area.

Now that the first MNSSHP party has been held & more details/reviews have started pouring in, we've started finalizing our MNSSHP plans. I caved today and purchased the Character Locator from kennythepirate's website so that we'd know for sure which characters will be there & where. I had hoped to have more definite details for you all before I wrote this update but it didn't happen. I will for sure have it for you by the next one.

Well, I think that's it for now. I will be back about the same time for another update. Thanks for continuing to tune in!

Holy cow! How could I have forgotten the most important update????

Last week, we also completely paid off our trip!!! And we paid it off 2 weeks earlier than we had planned!!!

giphy.gif

Just a quick drive-by to say...

WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD NEXT MONTH!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

MOVIE NIGHT:

This past week, we watched one of DH's other favorites. The Avengers 2. He's big on Marvel so he's really excited to hit up the SuperHero Headquarters at Disney Springs.

The menu was All-American themed. DH did hamburgers on the grill & I added sweet corn on the cob, mac & cheese, and tater tots. For dessert, we had mini peanut butter cheesecakes. Can't go wrong with that!

TRIP UPDATE:

I was finally able to book the Star Wars Dessert Party for October 21st. This worked out perfectly since it was our HS day and I had left room in our schedule just in case. I was going to keep it a complete surprise from DH but I was a little nervous he wasn't going to like it since he's such a picky eater. I ended up showing him some pictures from the party so he could see the types of dessert they had and he loved it! I even got an arm kiss ala Gomez Addams. giphy (1).gif

I did keep the actual firework show a surprise though. I already know he's going to love it.

I didn't get a chance to work on my Halloween costume this weekend, unfortunately. I was just too busy with other stuff. Friday night, I went out to dinner with my in-laws & then ran some errands. Saturday, I participated in a diabetes walk in the morning. By the time we got lunch & got home, I had just enough time to hop in the shower & get ready to meet my friend for drinks/dinner before our Toby Keith concert. Then yesterday, we met a new friend and her hubby at a small town heritage days about an hour's drive from our house. After we got home from that, I did laundry & dishes and was wiped out. I did buy more supplies for it so I will probably work on it this week sometime.

The hair clip for the costume came in and I ordered a pair of black cotton bike shorts to wear underneath the costume. I think it will look a little better than just plain black shorts.

I have our DISmeets with @Elevationist and @DMGeurts figured out. Just have to set up a time with @franandaj.

On Friday, we will place our Minimus order as well as buy any snacks we can here. I'm determined not to ship a box back from our vacation so we will keep the snacks to a minimum (unlike last time). This may or may not work since we have to pay for our checked luggage on Delta but we'll see.

Still have to make our plan for MNSSHP. I think I have the start of it pinned down & hope to finish it during movie night this week.

I think that's it for right now. Now that everything is pretty much booked & released, I'm just finding things to keep me busy until we leave. It makes the time go by a little faster.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

I had a post that I wrote up on my computer replying to your previous posts and it's all gone! Not even saved in the reply box! I'll try to remember....

Congratulations on being paid in full! This is a foreign concept to me as we bought into DVC after our last time paying for a trip. I think the price put Fran into sticker shock. Are you on a dining plan? Not sure if I asked that already.

Did you hear that Rivers of Light might be running when we are there? Rumors are that the cast has resumed rehearsals and they have received the go ahead from Disney productions to begin testing the effects. At least something similar to that. Google the show name in addition to the words *Theme*Park*Tourist* to see the article.

I know we had talked about meeting up on Thursday, I think it's the 20th. I'm on my phone and not at my computer to look at my spreadsheet. We are planning to be in the park for the kiosks that day, but I don't remember when I booked our FP+.

A guy we know is performing with Christopher Cross that night, he wants us to go to his Friday night show, but I don't think we will be up to it after our French Lunch. They pour the wine rather generously there. I think we'll be sleeping it off that night. Hence why I'm trying to have him get us seats for Thursday instead of Friday.

I'll check my spreadsheet and get back to you. I know you're planning on rope drop in Future World.

Dinner sounds good! I need to put homemade hamburgers back into the mix for dinner again.

I was finally able to book the Star Wars Dessert Party for October 21st.
I'm very very seriously considering booking this, and on the same date. I almost did today, but decided to wait a couple weeks until my next paycheck. I figure if it's still available then, then it's meant to be! (Note: I noticed in a review that all the good tables in the front are reserved for ECV/wheelchair guests, which was a big selling point for me. If I do book it, and I think I'm gonna, then you two are TOTALLY invited to hang at my table with me!)

Yay!!! I am super excited to meet up with you!!! :woohoo:

It looks like a lot of us will be down there at the same time!

D~

I am so so sorry for the delay. I've been having a horrible time posting on the DIS lately. I don't know if it's my computer or the website but there is some serious lag between typing & it actually appearing on the screen.

We are on the dining plan. I know a lot of people don't like it but it's a winner for us. We do a lot of character dining & it's just one less thing I have to worry about.

Did you hear that Rivers of Light might be running when we are there?

I've been hearing murmurs. I did notice they've extended evening hours at AK while we're there so fingers crossed!

I know we had talked about meeting up on Thursday, I think it's the 20th.

Yep, I think I have our FP+ times in this PTR somewhere but I'll be posting daily breakdowns shortly. I'll send you my number so we can keep in touch through text.

I've seen your updates & your FB post on my page (I'm sorry I didn't get back to you on there). I'm so excited!!!! We're going to have a blast. I'll respond on your TR hopefully today.

Yay!!! I am super excited to meet up with you!!! :woohoo:

D~

Me too! I can't believe how many of us are going to be there at the same time. I only have 3 DIS Meets planned, which is fine. I'm hoping by displaying the lime green Mickey head on my backpack, people will just come up for a quick howdy-doo.

Soooo....are you all ready for some updates??? Because I got a bunch for you (and they are in no particular time order).

Movie Nights

We are still doing our movie nights. 2 weeks ago we did one of my choices, Beauty & The Beast. I made roast beef with veggies and of course Grey Stuff for dessert.

IMG_0840.JPG

Try the (not-so) Grey Stuff! It was still delicious!!

Last week, the movie was Wreck-It Ralph. We had Burger Time burgers, Sonic the Hedgehog onion rings, and a mini double chocolate bundt cake with cream cheese frosting. Because of the weather, DH just did the burgers on our Foreman grill and then thought he would be cute.

IMG_0874.JPG

Due to DH's work schedule & his birthday this weekend, we're postponing this week's movie night & having 2 next week!

Mini-Food & Wine Festival

For those of you that have read my last PTR, you know that DH & I attend our local food festival every year. This year was no different, except for the fact that no one else went with us! It was just DH & I so we used it as a trial run for F&W. And let me tell you, it was an epic fail!!! We barely even tried anything before getting stuffed, the weather was crazy (started out cool so we wore jeans & then the sun came out blazing), no shade or any place to sit, and the grounds were a complete mud bog because it had rained a couple of nights before. The good news is what we did try, we really enjoyed (except for one thing) and I tried all new places.

VQVT5269.jpg

Starting in the upper left, we have plain cheesecake, chocolate peanut butter and coconut almond chocolate ice cream, carne asada street taco, kobe beef sliders (which were really bland), caramelized onion hummus with balsamic reduction & homemade pita chips, BBQ brisket sandwich, and Grown Up ranch mac & cheese (so bad). I'll let you guess which choices were DH's :) . He also had toasted ravioli but he ate them before I could get a picture. Before we left, we stopped & got the mini double chocolate bundt cake that we ended up having for dessert on movie night.

Our lesson learned is this: We will definitely have to take our time at F&W instead of barreling through full steam ahead. We will be playing Agent P's game & taking in some character meets & shopping so hopefully this will help. We will also have to keep reminding ourselves that we have all day in EPCOT plus another half day so we don't need to eat everything all at once.

Trip Updates

This last week and half has been full of Mickey Mail! First we got these little lovelies.

IMG_0847.JPG

Then we got these (just look at that face!)

IMG_0876.JPG

I didn't tell DH when they shipped so I would have a chance to personalize his MB before I gave it to him. I think it was a hit!

IMG_0878.JPG

Here's a close up of his. I think I need to add a coat of clear nail polish to it though because I noticed some of the edges were not sticking very well.
FWDX2812.jpg

My plan is to use my purple one that I personalized and posted earlier in this PTR. However, I went ahead and go a red one for myself just in case (God forbid) something happens to the pretty one.

Yesterday, we got our $60 Disney Vacation Account bonus gift card which I am using to recoup some of my spending money I used for the dessert party. We also received our Magic Extras booklet, which we've never gotten before so that was cool. It's got discounts for some shops & dining as well as free admission for miniature golf and ESPN. I thought there was also supposed to be something for Disney Quest but I guess maybe they don't do that any more????

I've also been hustling to get all the other stuff for our trip done. I had intended to start packing on Sunday but this is as far as I got.

IMG_0883.JPG

Sigh....at least everything is all in one place right??? All clothing that was ordered has arrived, all supplies have been bought except for a few little things, and our Minimus order should be here by the end of the week. We will still need to get haircuts, call the bank about our trip so we don't have any issues like last time, and I'm hoping to get a mani/pedi before we leave.

I did get my Halloween costume done and I'm pretty proud of it!!! There's a few minor mistakes with it but nothing anyone would notice without me pointing out. I ended up getting a pair of black cotton biker shorts to wear underneath it because the shirt just isn't long enough to wear it as a dress. I got the hair clip from a seller on etsy and Stitch is mine (and he talks). Because we are dining at 'Ohana earlier in the week, I will swing by the front desk at the Poly to ask for a lei.

VTCT2603.jpg

I think that's everything for right now. I can't believe we're leaving in 3 weeks!! I promise I will have another update for you next week, if not sooner. I plan on sharing our daily & MNSSHP schedules as well as more packing craziness and other misc. things.

Hope everyone has a magical day!!

Cool! It's all getting so close! I need to really start nailing down my packing and clothes! By your ticker, you arrive the day after I do. I hope we're good to go on East Coast time by the day we meet up!

I better check my mailbox again, I got my MB yesterday, but still haven't got the luggage tags. Although I didn't sign up for DME until last week so that could be the problem too.

I like how you can do themed movie nights, we have so many TV shows on our DVR it's all we can do to keep up with those, much less watch movies too!

It will be here very soon now!

Me too! I will have to remember to give you my cell phone number, if I haven't already. My memory is getting worse & worse as the trip gets closer.

Since DH works nights mostly, I catch up on all my TV shows while he's at work and he does the same while I'm at work during the day. It helps free up our evenings together for movies. :)

Day 1 Plans:

Just a quick break down of our tentative plans for our arrival day. As I've said before, DH & I like to have a plan but if I tried to schedule every hour, I would drive him and myself crazy. But below is what we hope to accomplish for our first (partial) day at WDW!

Wake up at 3 am
~ Yes, you read that right. I am NOT a morning person so this is really going to be difficult for me but we're going to Disney so hopefully it won't be too bad. I'm praying DH does not have to work late the night before (I'm actually trying to convince him to request a morning shift so he'll be off around 5 pm). Otherwise, this wake up call is going to be even worse.

Flight departure at 6 am
~ We are flying Delta and have a layover for the first time. My FIL has offered to drive us to the airport that morning so we don't have to leave our car there. We'll probably grab a light breakfast at the gate area, depending on what they have. Hopefully it will be an uneventful flight.

Land at MCO at 11:21 am
~ I would like to stop in at the Disney EarPort to grab the Stitch pressed coin there but we'll have to see how we're feeling. Based on the info we received in the mail, the Delta gates look closer to ME than the Southwest gates so that's nice. We'll boogie on over to ME & hop the bus to ASMo.

Arrive at ASMo by 1:30 pm
~This is purely a guess as I've never timed the trip but we should reach our resort by 1:30 pm at the very latest. I've done the online check-in already so that's taken care of. If our room is ready, then we'll go unpack and relax for a bit. If not, then we'll leave our carry-ons and head out to HS.

Dinner at 50's Prime Time at 5:05 pm
~ Our first new restaurant to try. :) I'm pretty excited, although I think DH is a little nervous about the shenanigans. Right now, he really wants to try the fried chicken. I'm leaning toward the veggie lasagna or the Blue Plate Special, depending on what it is. For dessert, DH says he's thinking the Brownie Sundae sounds wonderful while I'm still deciding between the pineapple upside down cake and the chocolate-peanut butter layers cake. I know you can get the shake too but sometimes milkshakes make me sick and I don't want to start the trip that way!

Bus to MK by 6:30 pm
~ Under normal circumstances, we would just stay at HS but MK is have evening EMH that night so we really wanted to partake in them. Once we get to the park, I'll probably go ahead and text @DMGeurts to see if we can arrange a DISMeet later on that evening.

FP+ for Peter Pan 7:30-8:30 pm
~ I can't wait for this. I don't remember riding the old version and it was closed on our last trip.

FP+ for Pirates of the Caribbean 8:45 - 9:45 pm
~ Next we'll head to Adventureland for an oldie but a goodie. Yo-ho!

FP+ for Under The Sea from 10:10 - 11 pm
~ This is a recent addition to our FP+ plans due to the fact that Disney extended the closing time for MK on this night. :)

DISMeet
~ I would imagine at this point I will be meeting up with D~ and her daughter depending on their schedule.

Head into Tomorrowland
~ Depending on how tired we are and how bad the standby lines are, we're hoping to get in Space Mountain and Monster's Inc. before EMH ends.

Bus back to the resort at 1 am
~ Now, in a perfect world, this is what would happen. Realistically, I'm foreseeing us crashing earlier than this. However, the excitement of finally being at WDW again may trump our fatigue.

So there you have it, my friends. Our arrival day. I will probably have the rest of our schedules done this weekend but I won't promise it. This weekend is DH's birthday so it's a little busy but I'll probably find some downtime somewhere.

Wow! You two are really go getters! If I had to be up at 3AM, I wouldn't make it past 8PM! Either that or I'd need a nap as soon as the room was ready!

According to your ticker you arrive the day after me. I'll be thinking of you and you travel plans.

We loved 50s Prime Time. Since we're big appetizer people, we got onion rings to start and split the fried chicken. It was awesome, I can highly recommend it. I also had the pineapple upside down cake which was superb.

I hope you're able to accomplish your plans. Do you have a time change to deal with. I can't remember if you're on East cost time or central.

So basically, by the time you get back to ASMo, get settled in and in the bed, you're looking at having been up for about 24 hours. TOTALLY DOABLE. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Seriously, I think your first day plans look totally awesome!
