Aparently my DH bought some computer equipment worth £1568.00 off the internet last week on his credit card which he hasn't used for months!!!! This is getting scary with this card fraud. A few of our friends have had it happen. One friend had his bank account wipped clean last year so it seems to be getting worse so much for chip and pin being more secure. This is the second time it has happened to us in the last year

Oh My, How Awfull! I do hope your well insured! Idon't know whats happening to the world these days! :sad2: People just seem to think the world owes them a living and they can just help themselves to other hard working peoples things! It makes me so flaming MAD:furious:

Sendin you some hugs

This happened to my DH a couple of weeks ago. DH had ordered some flowers over the internet for me for Mothers Day (flowers direct). A week later he got a letter from his credit card issuer asking him to contact them urgently. After verifying who he was, they asked him about several transactions over the previous 3 days, none of which were down to DH. Luckily, they had stopped the card straight away and have refunded all the money to his account and issued another card.

Not sure it's chip and pin - could it not be an internet site you've used your card on :confused3

Oh no, so sorry to hear about this, it is something I always worry about

Hi

Oh no poor you. It must be horrible to find that out. I dont know where people are getting all these credit card information from. I know my dh is adamant about our PC being secure, because we use a wireless system. Apparently people can log into your PC anywhere in the area unless its secure. I dont know if this is the cause to most of the problems. Its scary.

Oh thats dreadful, I hope you manage to get it sorted out:hug:

I don't know what gives people the right to do something like that. It's aweful and it makes me soooooo mad  :furious: I hope you get it sorted out ok. Sending you some hugs, hope they help.

Sorry this has happened to you:hug:

I had a phonecall from my credit card a couple of months ago asking if I had spent so much with T-mobile and tesco as it went against my usual spending habits. As I hadn't they cancelled my card and issued a new one to me. It is the first time I have had it happen after years of buying online.

I think it is from the internet people are getting the card details or some petrol stations are prone to it happening. Chip and pin does make it harder to use cloned/stolen cards in shops. They need to speed up the development of using it for internet purchases.

This happened to us twice within a couple of months last year. It is such a pain. Hope you get things sorted out quickly :grouphug:

The thing is to always have a good internet security program that also looks for malware. A free malware program is Lavasoft's Ad-aware. Malware programs can install keyloggers onto your computer which would record your credit card details. Also important is to regularly check for viruses and malware by running scans. I use both Norton Internet Security and Ad-aware

I hope you get this sorted. This happened to us last year but thankfully our bank contacted us to ask if had made a transaction, which we hadn't. They cancelled the card straight away.

It has happened to me with my debit card and then a stolen cheque book the bank sent through the post that never arrived. (We hadn't even asked for one) and just recently DH was phoned at work in Chester and asked did he try to draw money out earlier that day in Australia???? someone had cloned his card:mad:
