It's gymbuck time...

(I actually am removing/editing this post as I cannot stoop to the level of people who want to post just to be mean. I have better things to do then that)

Awww, you mean you didn't mean it when you said what a wonderful person I was? :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

See, I refuse to use my Gymbucks on the new lines. If you just wait a few weeks, all the new stuff will be on sale! I use my Gymbucks to scoop up sale items!

Ditto! I stock up on the sale items. You get more for your buck that way! :thumbsup2

And I totally agree with the PP that complained that there is more cute stuff for girls than boys. I wish Janie & Jack had Gymbucks - they have ADORABLE stuff for boys but their prices are insane.

You are right, I did trim out some of your message - it was in the interest of saving space.
I can repost the whole thing if it makes you feel any better.
I think most people would say it was still not a nice thing to say. Clarabelle said it was like asking for free clothes and you said it was like asking for money - both of you said YOU would never do it. Well, since I did not ask you to do anything you don't have to worry about it.
And it is not drama - in my opinion it is just plain mean. Do you go by bell ringers at Christmas time and say "get a job" out of the corner of your mouth too? Please don't post to a thread just to say something mean about a poster you not only don't know, but don't know their circumstances either. Good for you both that you can go to Gymboree and spend at least 50.00 at a time to rightfully "earn" your gymbucks.
This is the last time I am going to post on this, I don't want this to become one of those hideous threads that is nothing but bickering.

I still am open to a gymbuck if one finds themselves in a situation, where (with no pressure) they are not going to use it and let it expire. Please pm me. Thanks!

I also said that this was "just me" how I feel. I also posted that most here on the Dis disagree with me so I was probably the confused one. You left all of that out and went on to call me "mean-spirited" and that I should be ashamed of myself. I think I must have hit a nerve or something because I never once called you a name. I was merely responding to Clarabell. I'm sorry if my post so offended you that you had to call me names...it must not take much.

By the way, I work with the poor in public service, so I deal with the poor everyday and it is my priviledge to serve them.

I used to have the same strategy, but I am finding it increasingly harder to do! The selection is certainly not as good as it used to be and the items I like the best are being snatched up before I get a chance to get them on sale and use gymbucks. Maybe it's because my son is in the larger sizes. :confused3

Oh! I do! And I kick strays and tell the other children in the Santa line that he isn't real so they'll start crying and my kids can get in his lap faster
:rotfl:

And FTR I don't really do to our mall it's become very urban, but I did look at the Gymboree website and the Jungle Gem line is VERY cute. I just can't justify paying so much for their stuff. We live near Amanda Remembered and I can get $70 smocked dresses for $20.... What do you think my kid wears daily?

And don't the Gymbucks have to stay attached to your reciept? Like they do with Kohl's cash? (On black friday I made the mistake of removing my reciept and you'd think I spent weeks counterfiting in my basement)

I find boys sizes to be the worst for availability at our local stores! And personally I try not to look at the new collections at ALL. I'll just peruse what is left once the prices come down to where I am willing to pay them. Then I look. :)

I still don't see what all the comotion is. I would never list gymbucks on Ebay or Craigs List as I don't involve myself in selling things. There have been many times when my kids really had enough and the gymbucks would just have gone to waste. Why not give them to someone who really could use them instead of letting them sit in the drawer unused?

BTW I bought mostly all new stuff with my gymbucks - too cute to resist!

Please don't flame me!!

This happened to me a couple times at Gymboree/Limited too. I'm a big procrastinator, so I'm always there on the last day to redeem the bucks. Twice there were kind people in the store that weren't going to use all their coupons and they passed them along to me. Not telling anyone to hang out at the store all day, but the possibility exists :rotfl2:

I ended up buying mostly new stuff too. Just too cute and my DD is in a 10 now and that size seems to go so quickly. I don't know if it's because it's more popular size or if they don't make as many in that size.

P.S. I give my codes away when I don't use them when I think about it. I have never sold them or a gymbuck. Unfortunately, I've never met a gymbuck I didn't need to spend myself?:rotfl:

Hi! Does anyone know if there is any recourse if you discover that the cashier did not give you the gymbuck with your receipt? My mom bought some stuff during the earning period and never got the coupon. I was hoping she could let me use them. She is trying to call the store. Just wondering if anyone else did not get a coupon they were suppose to? Thanks.

Yes but if you are shopping online then there is no way to tell if you have the receipt attached.

I go straight to the back of the store to the clearance rack first - I don't give more than a casual glance to the full price stuff!

The commotion gets stirred up quite a bit on this topic when someone repeatedly begs for free stuff claiming they are too poor to afford to earn their own Gymbucks when a simple search of previous posts reveals recent (and planned) vacations to the Poly Concierge with the DXDDP and private Photopass session. :confused3 When those facts are pointed out, the poster gets hostile and resorts to name-calling on the thread and by PM.

There is nothing wrong with giving your Gymbucks away - you earned them. It is the begging for them (especially by people misrepresenting themselves) that stirs the crowd on the Budget Board. ::yes:: Each Gymbuck is worth $25 in store credit to Gymboree. I don't see threads with anyone begging for gift cards for that dollar amount to any other store. Try asking one of us CVSers for a $25 ECB or gift card for free.

The Gymbuck number is tied to your receipt so I would hope they would be able to look it up for you. Good luck!!

I did not think we were allowed to personally attack people on the dis. I cant believe what I have just read. I have given away gymbucks here before when I knew i was not using them and they were going to expire. Saving money does not mean you can't spend money. Now I know why I have been on the LLNOE boards this week.

OP- I too am an adoptive mom who has lost $$$ to infertility. Your OP said nothing about you being broke, it simply asked for a gymbuck if anyone had it, which has been done here before. I think that is why i am so confused. To go to the trouble of seaching someone's posts and then post their resort choices is in my opinion a personal attack. Why would anyone care? I should have one left over and if I do, you will be the one to have it. Have a great day. Are you the same wendygrace on LLNOE?

:sad2::sad2::sad2:

I don't see anything wrong with asking for gymbucks. I don't think anyone should ASSume someone should give them away/donate them. After all, they are definitely the same as $25 store credit (off a $50 purchase) so they are definitely worth some cash. I don't mind paying for them, so if I was the OP I would just phrase the post more like, "I am looking for gymbucks..if anyone can point me in the direction of where to find some (not ebay) please let me know!!"

Question- I'm still sort of new to the whole gymbuck thing- I used my gymbuck yesterday to buy 3 things. Well, the shorts are too small on ds. And the dress I bought for dd is ridiculously big. Obviously, I still have the tags attached and have the receipt. Will they let me exchange these items? And will I lose the gymbuck credit? Or how does that work? There wasn't much availability when I was there and I don't think they will have the right sizes.

No one has a problem with giving away or offering up a Gymbuck. The problem comes in when someone ASKS for one without offering something in return.

How is pointing out what a poster has posted before a personal attack? :confused3 She brought up her financial situation implying that she is poor and can't afford to spend the $50 it takes to EARN a Gymbuck and then likening herself to a charity with the bell ringer statement. If being poor affords me lavish annual vacations to a Disney Deluxe Resort and free clothes from Gymboree then sign me up!

The personal attacks are in the PMs the OP sent. It is against the DIS terms of service to quote PMs on a thread but I can assure you the name calling on the thread is nothing compared to her nasty PMs to me and I can only imagine others on this thread as well. No worries. I certainly won't be losing any sleep over it.

Could we call a truce
Truce2.gif
and get back to the discussion of the Gymbucks, please? It's not very welcoming to new members to see this kind of ******* in the messages that are posted. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and each side has a valid point. But it's time to agree to disagree and move on.

So, what did everyone get with their Gymbucks? Any pictures?

I was just thinking I would gladly trade ECBs for Gymbucks, but you need the darn card. Is anyone interested in trading for a Gap gc?

They will let you return them, and then you can start over, so to speak with the Gymbuck.

I don't see anything wrong with trading/selling/offering for free gymbucks. There are so many situations out there where someone earned gymbucks but they just don't like anything during redemption or finances change or a ton of reasons. I know i've given away tons of gymbucks in the past for those same reasons. I figure I can either earn a few bucks for them or help someone who could really use them.... I choose the later.

That being said, I am on the other side of the road this time. I didn't have the money during gymbuck earning to buy anything and we really didn't need anything at the time. But now my older ds has grown out of the very few clothes he has left and he literally has nothing to wear, he is currently squeezing into his brothers 3t jean shorts right now. I still don't really have the money to spend on new clothes but I have a cart with $100 worth of cheap lines and just can't hit that buy button because I know there are unused gymbucks out there. I tried ebay but WOW they are going for more then 50% of what they are worth!!! So I am asking nicely if anyone has any to spare... I'd be more then appreciative, so would my ds who is barely breathing in too small shorts, lol.

Thanks so much to the PPs who mentioned craigslist - it never would have occurred to me but that's an awesome idea and you can bet I'll be watching for any reasonably priced gymbucks there in future though I'm willing to share any extra finds with Calabelle and StitchLovesTink since you guys are local too...:thumbsup2
