for our trip in 10 days:scared:Now I know June is hot (we go every June) but temps that feel like 105....I am going to melt:scared1:Iy reminds me of Aug. I take a shower, get dressed, step outside and I take another shower in the heat and humidity. So.....

What are your best stay cool tips?

Get a couple of those water-sprayer-bottles for the kids and 'borrow' them from time to time...

Schedule or plan for a "cool" attraction (MK ex. HM, MPO, MLI) between 'hot' attractions...

I like to stop in a restroom from time to time just to wash my hands in cool water....that really cools me off....

We usually visit in July and the heat doesn't bother me. (But we live in Louisiana)....

Usually June/July - you'll get those afternoon rain showers to cool things off and drive away the feeble tourists who think the showers will last past 5pm...

Hope you have a magical visit!

Mary

We also try to do 1 cool attraction in between 2 outdoor ones. For example, if we ride splash mountain & TMRR we will try to do POTC since it's dark and cool. After walking around we'll duck into Hall of Presidents to cool off.

You can purchase a spray botlle with a fan at Walmart for a lot less. We freeze a couple of water bottles so they stay cold for a long time. Take a wash cloth to run under cool water and place on the back of your neck for a quick cool down. We always go in June or July and have found the weather bearable.

We will be right there with you! I plan to take lots of pool breaks with my son and water park trips too! This is our third summer Disney trip and we want to take is slower and relax more this trip. My dh on the other hand will go diehard and ride. He's not a swimmer.

Yikes:scared1: Its gonna feel like 105!!!!! This reminds me of why we never go after March or before October. Good luck to you and I would say get up and be at the parks at rope drop and head back to the resort for a cool swim at lunchtime. Venture back into the parks in the early evening. I just cant do those high temps and humidity.

I live in southeast texas heat and humidity...

The number one thing you can do to try to feel better in these conditions is keep your hair WET. Regularly visit the bathrooms and dunk your head in the sink. Seriously.

All the misting ideas are very helpful too. Any water on your skin will help make you feel somewhat cooler, but they work best if there is a breeze. Without a breeze, or unless the water is COLD, it may just make you feel more sticky.

Shade. Bring your own shade. That's an umbrella. It's amazing how NOT having the sun beat down on you will help you. Admittedly, this sounds like a total pain, but if you have any of those super small individual umbrellas, it could be worth it, depending on which park you are in, which resort you are staying at, etc.

Get in the a/c, especially with wet hair or right after misting.

Bring extra clothes, or make plans for laundry, because at some point, you have to just deal and enjoy the day, sticky and all. Then when you get back to your room, shower, get comfy fresh clothes, and appreciate the a/c all the more.:goodvibes

This is my plan. DH thinks I should bring one outfit for each day. I told him he will be sitting by himself at dinner if he doesn't rinse off and put on a dry(non-sweaty) shirt. The thought of putting my dirty park clothes on after an afternoon dip in the pool makes me cringe.

Somewhere I read to bring a clean pair of socks with you to the parks and change mid-day. Might feel refreshing after standing in line.

:scared1::scared1::scared:

Your DH must not sweat like my DH!!:lmao:

My DH is ready to bring 2-3 changes of clothes per day. As in, what he wears in the morning until an afternoon break/swim. Then there's the after the break clothes. These may or may not be the same clothes that he would want to wear to dinner (doing some signature dining, celebrating anniversary, father's day, etc.). Not to mention the lounging clothes for when DS goes to bed and we are sitting on the balcony enjoying some alone time and adult libation.:goodvibes

One thing that might help with the laundry idea is if you have some high tech sportswear, like wicking, dry fit, etc etc. These would wash out in the sink/tub nicely, like a swimming suit would, and you could hang dry these quickly. This is a part of my own personal extra clothes/laundry plan. Be sure to bring clothes pins or drying hangers if you plan on this.

We went in early July two years ago and that is when I learned that there was a thing called the heat index. We were there 8 days and 6 of them had a heat index of 110. The other two days were over 100.

Not much you can do to escape that! :scared1:

After 2 or 3 days of trying to battle through the heat, humidity, crowds and the infamous South American tour groups  we decide to hit the water parks during the day and the "main" parks at night.

Good luck!

I will be battling this too. We leave in 19 days and my mother hates the heat but we are prepared for it. We are just trying to find ways to help her stay cool. She wont go for the wet hair thing. We MAY go back to the room in the afternoon depending on the busyness of the parks and what we get done. It would be nice to get most of the big things done in the morning, have lunch and head back to the room, then go back in the evening and just enjoy being there. But I think that may be wishful thinking. :confused3 Who knows.. we will see! We will be there at rope drop most def!

see having my hair wet makes me feel hotter. Blech.

I'm embracing the heat baby. I love it. WOOHOOO!!

And by the way, Hall of Presidents is closed until 7/4.

Oh and last week at this time, they were predicting 100 for Wed-Fri of my trip. Today Accuweather.com says 93, 88 & 90 for those three days. So a lot can change. :)

Weather.com is showing mid to low 90's for the next 10 days. I know high humidity could make it feel hotter, but better than high 90s with high humidity!

What you should do is take a hand towel from the hotel and wet it and put it around your neck. That seems to cool you off. Periodically you should wet it again. A hat or sun visor seems to help also.

Thanks for the tips everyone. We leave in 3 days and I'm pretty worried about the heat. We live in GA so we get those high temps too but I haven't had the kids outside much this year since school just recently let out.

We'll be taking our third June trip in 11 days. Here's what we've learned:

Hats for everyone. None of us - me, husband, 2 sons - wear hats at home, but we all do at WDW. A light-colored hat will do wonders.

Drink more water or gatorade than you'll think you need. If nobody's needing to use the restroom, you're heading for trouble.

Freeze water bottles and take them with you. They feel great on the back of your neck and you can drink as they thaw. I also take a cloth or some paper towels in a ziploc - pour some of that ice water on one and slap it on the back of your neck as well - instant cool down.

Go into a shop as you walk just for the AC.

A light colored umbrella is a good idea. It's hard to find shade in some areas, especially at Epcot. You just can't use it where it's crowded.

We never do full days at a park. I learned that lesson the hard way when my kids were little. We'll go for a few hours in the AM, have lunch and go back to the resort. Hang out in the AC, go to the pool, shower and go back out. Take it slow and you'll be fine.

Yes, take a couple wash cloths with you to the parks. They have been our life savers in the past when we would go in july.

This is the best advice! On our one trip in late June, I only brought one outfit for each of us for each day. Needless to say, I was doing laundry halfway through the trip because we all had to change at least once a day.
