We are finally going back to Disney, hurray! :cool1: The title of thread comes from my almost five year old. We have gone once before in March of 2009 when she was 2 years, 9 months old. Since then EVERY time we watch a Disney movie that has the castle at the beginning, she starts jumping up and down screaming "That's where we're going again someday, DISNEY WORLD!!"

We are flying in late on May 31st and staying till June 7th. We are doing it as a birthday celebration for Molly, she will be turning 5 shortly after we get home, June 15th. :cheer2:

So, the cast of characters:

Me, Debby, 28. I'm a speech pathologist and an avid vacation planner. I've been planning this vacation pretty much since we got back from the first one, it's just taken this long for us to feel like we can comfortably pay for a vacation. I'm glad it's worked out that we can do it as a 5th birthday celebration for Molly. I'm silly, sarcastic and prone to bouts of anxiety about things going just right. When it comes to vacations I like to have a PLAN. I get quite uneasy when I don't know what to expect. So for obvious reasons I am the planner for our trips. DH has admitted many times that our first trip was so great because of how meticulously I had planned our days.

DH, Cory, 28. He enjoys our vacations, but never actually jumps up and announces a need to take one. He'd pretty happily just take a vacation to our couch. He puts up with me though and my constant need to plan a vacation. I suppose we temper each other because if it was just what I wanted, we'd be at Disney a couple of times a year, plus other vacations thrown in and if it was up to him we'd take a trip once every 10 years or so!
He's a very funny, silly guy and I love him to pieces. He lets me plan every part of our trip and really doesn't want any say in anything. He trusts me to get it done (I could NEVER do what he does!) He works for Farmers Insurance as an arbitration OCR (when you get in wreck if the two companies can't agree on who is at fault it goes to him and he writes a "contention" basically arguing why Farmers client isn't at fault.)

This is the two of us, shortly before we got married, about 6 years ago :-P I looked better then than I do now.

Onto the star of our trip, our almost 5 year old daughter, Molly. She's...well, she's something else entirely. She's currently an only child, but we work hard not to spoil her. Hopefully someday she'll have a sibling. She is VERY precocious and creative. She's often in her own little made up world. She's super social and talks to practically everyone we see. She really is one of a kind, as I'm sure you'll see. She loves all things princess, as do most little girls. She has been begging to back since the day we got home from our last trip.

This pic kind of sums up Molly in a nutshell

and a pic from our WDW trip when she was 2 years, 9 months.

MIL, Christie, 49. This is DH's mom. She is quite young for a grandma and she doesn't look her age, but sometimes she acts like she's 20 years older. She and Molly adore each other and are two peas in a pod. So far as I know she's only been to WDW once and never to DLR. She's a very sweet, fun lady and I am grateful she is my MIL :-D

FIL, Rick, 52 (53, by the time our trip rolls around). Scares people the first time he meets them, because he's so quiet, and seems very serious. Once you get to know him, he's reserved, but very funny and goofy. He's just shy :-P I see him and MIL asking for early nights and him particularly asking for wine regularly. He's not really a fun and games kind of guy, but when it comes to Molly and MIL, he'll do just about anything to please them.

MIL and FIL are hoping to join us for 3-4 days of our trip, including Friday and Saturday. MIL hopes she can stay the whole time, but we'll see how their work schedule comes together.

So long as I have the time and energy I'll keep going (DH is putting Molly to bed, so I can have some time to focus :-P )

We are staying at Pop, which I am really excited about. I love the themes and we are the Disney types who don't stay in their room very much, so a cute, comfortable room is all we ask for. We don't need anything too fancy since all we do there is sleep. I'm eager to see if not having to share a bus system is as great as it seems.

We got a free dining pin, so we got free quick service dining that we upgraded to the regular dining plan. More on my dining ideas coming in the next few posts.

We live in Oklahoma City and our "world" airport doesn't actually have very many direct flights. At first I was thinking we would drive to Dallas and fly from there to Orlando, but it became too much of a pain to drive and then get a hotel for the night and fly out first thing in the morning and then have to do something similar when we came back. Originally we were planning on just doing the 1st through the 7th, but I hate to waste an entire day on traveling so we're going to fly out of OKC on the afternoon of the 31st so we can get started first thing Wednesday, June 1st!

Our flight home is on the 7th in the late afternoon, around 5:45 I think, so we'll get a good 1/2 day in on that last day.

We are planning on doing some kind of present for her each day we are there, something inexpensive but Disney oriented. We already have one thing, a Sleeping Beauty purse/gloves/necklace set.

Oh, and we are keeping the entire trip a secret from her. We'll see how long it takes her to figure out where we are going. She doesn't really remember much about her first trip so I think it will take her a while to figure it out, probably right up until she sees the ME bus. She is a great reader so she'll probably read the sign on the bus and then freak out on us, lol.

Here are some pics from our trip in March 2009. We stayed at All Star Movies and really enjoyed it.

ETA our 6/7 Kona breakfast

I've got several PTRs made, but I'm feeling conflicted. I just don't know what I want to do. Part of me wants to revisit several places we went before, but the other part of me wants to do all new things. I know we want to do character dining, but it's not a big deal to do it every day or anything.

Last time we went to Tony's Town Square (dinner), Coral Reef (lunch), The Crystal Palace (breakfast), Yak and Yeti (lunch), O'hana (dinner), 50's Prime Time (dinner) and Akershus (lunch).

The only one I know for sure we want to repeat is O'hana.

Right now I've got these reservations:

6/1: Whispering Canyon Cafe, 12:00pm
6/2:
6/3: O'hana, 9:40pm (SO late, I don't know if DD will be able to handle it)
6/4: Sci-Fi Dine In Theater, 1:40pm
6/5: 1900 Park Fare, 9:20am
6/6: Teppan Edo, 1:30pm
6/7: Kona Cafe, 9:05am

Our plan is to try and stay inside during the heat of the day so I'm aiming for as many lunches as I can, but I know that DD would love to see Alice and her crew so we are doing breakfast at 1900 Park Fare.

I feel like Whispering Canyon and Sci-Fi are really random, I don't have very many must haves. Of course we'd like to do CRT, but getting a ressie is impossible except for the very late evening dinner and since it would be completely for her I'd like her not to be out of her mind with exhaustion, you know?

Does anyone have any great suggestions??

I changed our O'hana reservation to 9:05p and added a breakfast at Kona Cafe on our last morning.

So far so good, I think.

Welcome to my TR, glad you came by :-)

I'm wondering when I'll actually learn what area we are staying in. It doesn't really matter to me, but I'm still curious. It's not a preferred room so far as I remember, but I don't know which decade we'll be in.

Does anyone know how long before the trip you get your luggage tags etc in the mail?

I signed up for tour guide mike tonight. It's still processing, but I hope I like it. I used touringplans.com last time and I really liked it, but I wanted to compare and contrast the two and see if I can get the best of the best :-)

So far these are my plans for which park, which day.

Wednesday, June 1st : Magic Kingdom
Thursday, June 2nd : Epcot
Friday, June 3rd : Animal Kingdom
Saturday, June 4th : haven't decided
Sunday, June 5th : Hollywood Studios
Monday, June 6th: Epcot
Tuesday, June 7th : haven't decided, it's a 1/2 day before we have the catch ME back to the airport.

I've picked the parks that are listed as a best park, or at least a neutral park on touring plans, except for Hollywood Studios, because it's Star Wars weekend and I want DH to get to participate. He's not a huge SW fan, but enough and I know he'd still think it was fun. We are also limited to Fantasmic days because we didn't get to see it last time, and I'm determined to see it this time!!

Okay, now I'm going to go and try to figure out TGM, fun stuff!

HI! your dd is so cute! Your description of her makes me think a lot about my own dd!. We took her at 4 1/2 and i think it is a perfect age! Big enough to do most everything, while at the same time everything is still magical!.
What about Akershus for your first Epcot day? It may be easier to get into than CRT.

We did Akershus last time and the interaction was great, but DH was not so fond of the food. I brought that idea up to him and he vetoed it :headache:

I just don't know if DD would have more fun at a princess meal or if seeing them out and about in the parks and in Toontown would be enough...and I can't ask her because it's supposed to be a surprise :crazy2:

Before I hop in bed I wanted to post our dining reservations, new and revised :-P

6/1-Whispering Canyon Café, Disney's Wilderness Lodge 12:00pm
6/2-'Ohana, Disney's Polynesian Resort 9:05pm
6/3-Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater, Disney's Hollywood Studios® 1:40pm (still might change this one)
6/4- 1900 Park Fare, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa 9:20am
6/5-Cinderella's Royal Table, Magic Kingdom® Park 1:25pm (I found a ressie HURRAY!!)
6/6-Teppan Edo, Epcot® 12:20pm
6/7-Kona Café, Disney's Polynesian Resort 9:05am

Well, I've been exploring TGM for the last couple of days. It's so involved! I'm going to compare his touring plans to touringplans.com and see where they are the same and where they different and try to make a happy mix of the two.

Molly randomly told us tonight she wanted to stay in a hotel. We said "really? what hotel would that be?" She replied "the one at Disney World where we stayed when I was two, remember??"

We just played it off, but thought it was funny because that's what she's getting for her birthday :goodvibes

We've got 3 of her small birthday presents she's going to get during our trip. I got her lanyard and a set of princess pins so she can do some pin trading, got them off ebay, but I think they are the real deal, they are really nice and they had a WDW price sticker on the back. I'm planning on getting a few more pins, but that's a start. I also got her a pack of princess silly bands at Target the other day and I also have a set of Sleeping Beauty stuff with gloves, necklace and purse.

I want to get her something for her to open every morning, though it will probably mostly be small stuff since, because obviously we are at Disney, happy birthday! We'll also let her pick out some stuff from the shops.

OKAY...

I *think* I've finally got which park we are visit each day with accompanying meal. This has been a complicated process! DH doesn't want to pay for park hopping so I keep having to change our ADR's and now I don't think we'll get to see Fantasmic this time either, unless I change something...again. I guess I just need to find a date at CRT for a day other than Sunday. If we don't manage to find another date then oh well. We'll see Fantasmic eventually :sad2:

So a *mostly* final plan
Wednesday, June 1st : Magic Kingdom
Thursday, June 2nd : Epcot
Friday, June 3rd : Animal Kingdom
Saturday, June 4th : Magic Kingdom
Sunday, June 5th : Hollywood Studios
Monday, June 6th: Epcot
Tuesday, June 7th : open, we'll have a 1/2 day to revisit something.

Dining
Wednesday, June 1st : Whispering Canyon Cafe-lunch
Thursday, June 2nd : nothing planned, snack at the world showcase all day?? :cool1:
Friday, June 3rd : O'hana-dinner
Saturday, June 4th : 1900 Park Fare-breakfast
Sunday, June 5th : 50's Prime Time-lunch
Monday, June 6th: Akershus-breakfast
Tuesday, June 7th : Kona Cafe-breakfast

ETA: Nevermind, it's still changing, crazy but fun
