I just saw this movie this afternoon and recommend it. Very funny! I'd say about 70% of the movie goers were over 50, but I think it would be enjoyed by anyone of any age, especially those who are or were married.

Alec Baldwin was great, as was Meryl Streep.

we saw this today and it was great! really enjoyed it. great cast!

Was I the only one that wanted a different ending? They basically lead you right into thinking the ending was right but I was kind of sad.
Let me just say I sure was not thinking when I went to this movie with my parents who were divorced for 30 years before they got remarried (with all the kids blessings). :rotfl2:

FWIW, I'm 25 and saw it with my family over the holidays and loved it!

I saw it as well last weekend. Very good movie, but I also was expecting it to end a differently.

We saw it last night. Loved the guy from the office. I likey, likey his choice of pajamas! He cracked me up.

I want to see that too, but will probably wait for it on Netflix.

DH and I went to see "The Blind Side" on New Year's Eve (earlier afternoon matinee) and I didn't think it would be so crowded since that movie has been out for awhile now, but it was.

A family of four sat directly behind us, and they apparantly brought food in their coats because the kids were constantly being noisy with the wrappers. Crinkle, crinkle, crinkle throughout the entire movie, and talking about what was happening to their parents, and people in front of us constantly getting up to go to the restroom, get popcorn/pop refills, etc. And the girl two seats to my right playing with her cell phone.

I'm just sick of it.

With big screen TV's and surround sound, I'm much happier seeing movies at home without other people and their constant annoyances. :)

I liked the ending!!! Think about it. Her ex husband had an affair with a younger woman, which ended their marriage. Years later, finding out the grass is not always greener on the other side, the ex has a change of heart. Now the ex wife has all the power! ;) She can fool around with him and doesn't have to do his laundry!;) She let the new wife know how it felt!

She had become a strong & successful divorcee. I would have hated if they had gotten back together because he decided he wanted her back. She deserved so much better than him!

Might want to put a spoiler alert on that one:) I haven't seen it yet but actually am MORE likely to see it after reading that.

I agree. And Steve Martin's character was so healthy and sweet. She deserved to know him.

It was a bit sad. I honestly did feel bad for "Jake" and his new wife, but he made his choices.

My mother now wants to smoke pot because of this movie! She is 65 years old and her and her friends have made plans to do it on vacation in April.

I hope they take pictures. The pot scenes in the movie are very funny.

The soon to be son-in-law is hysterical too.

Saw it last night and we really enjoyed it. I would have liked a different ending though.

A guy had a young boy around 8 yrs old with him to see the movie. The movie was not for his age.

I agree! I think the ending was perfect. Why should the x-husband have his cake and eat it, too? Too bad for him. Maybe would have been nice to see them get back together, especially for the kids, but the husband made his choice and has to live with the long term consequences. Great story, though.

Yikes! Why would someone do that?! I was probably one of the younger people there, and I'm 42, but there were some people in their early twenties. I didn't see anyone younger than that, though.
