ITS COMING -Nov. 2014 Free Dining - waiting, watching, wishing & worrying thread

They are real picky in approving accounts. We tried before our last trip in 2012 with no success and were shocked we were able to get one this time around. It might have to do with the fact it is a "rewards card" with no annual fee, so they limit who they give it to.

That makes sense. My credit is spotless, so I was shocked to see "Your application needs further review". Based on what you said, it should have read "you aren't paying us $49 for our printed piece of plastic, therefore we're going to review your history with us to see if we have made any interest income off of your other account."

LOL

Thanks!

Actually, ours went through the review process as well, and my wife had to call in and verify some additional information and they approved right on the spot then.

I called them and asked if it could be expedited...they said "no, it usually takes about a week and a half for you to receive our decision, but could take up to 30 days."

He did say I could call back in about a week and if they had approved my application, they would expedite the card shipment free of charge.

By that time, the FD deal will likely be announced to the general public.

I've got a couple of questions about Free Dining vs Room-only Discounts, while we're all waiting impatiently for more info. :) Also note, this will be my very first trip to WDW, so assume I know nothing and forgive my ignorance!

1. If Free Dining is announced prior to any Room-only Discounts and I sign up for the Free Dining, but then the Room-only Discount turns out to be a better deal for me than the DDP...can I switch without having to cancel and re-book everything?

2. Will I even be eligible for a Room-only Discount if I've purchased the whole Magic Your Way package together (rather than booking the room and buying tickets separately)? (Again, without having to cancel and re-book.)

Thanks so much for your help!

Yes, you can switch discounts pending availability. Yes, you can add a room discount to the room portion of your package.

In all my lurking on the boards I keep seeing over and over that the better option may be (if free dining comes out for my dates) to upgrade to a moderate resort and get dining plus included for the same price as staying at POP and paying the upcharge to have dining plus.

Anyone else know anything about this or can give advice.

I can't really get into details, but this offer is... odd.

There will be a lower discount period during certain dates for room only and certain resorts are excluded for certain dates. Just weird.

Confirming that POFQ and POR are both EXCLUDED from FD. Really puts a kink in lots of plans.
If these resorts are in fact excluded,We will definately be more inclined to stay off property,or Coranado Springs IF available(checked availability at Coronado Springs last night, and there was'nt much available for our Nov.dates.:confused3 At the same time, checked availability at both POR resorts, and there was plenty availability across the board for them for our Nov.dates...what gives?:confused3 We will stay off property if we can't get a moderate resort with queen beds...kids are too big to share the doubles anymore... Maybe we'll do a timeshare presentation and get some Orlando Flex passes for free, and just go to Seaworld,Aquatica, and "The Dark Side",and get bigger digs and a kitchen to boot! Doing this will save us MAJOR bucks-it's waaay cheaper than FD package at a moderate resort. We'll be happy either way....really wanted to stay at French Quarter though...:sad2: have only stayed at POP.

It depends on your party size and how many "disney adults" you have. With four people to a room, all four of them over the age of 10, you can actually save a few dollars by switching to a moderate. Of course it can vary a little depending on your dates, and standard/preferred or view, etc. In general though, four disney adults in one room = better off at a moderate.

THIS.

I got the same info yesterday AM. It was very specific.
The Mouse is on the prowl.
There's a glitch that needs to be fixed.
There is deliberate misinformation being used to fix the glitch in the future.
Nothing is adding up...and it's being done on purpose.

And for the record, I greatly appreciate the efforts of EVERYONE on this board to try and save families some $$$....
In this day and age we ALL need to save a few bucks! Keeping my fingers crossed that FD comes through for all of us. I know if it doesn't it will make a huge dent in our length of stay!

Well it's working, because I have seen every kind of different information floating around out there.

I was honestly pretty shocked about POR being excluded. It IS included in the room discount though, but that won't cover November dates for now.

Well if it holds true that POR will be excluded, I need to decide if we should stay offsite. We would save about $1500 to stay offsite than to get 2 rooms at a value. We wouldn't have dining though, but we would get a free breakfast at our favorite offsite digs. Hmmmm.... the thinking begins!

Can you at least tell us when the room only discount might be expected?

From my very magical travel agent who ALWAYS comes through when it comes to getting the most out of our Disney trip. This was the response when I asked about FD "The chief rumor mounger has been more wrong than right and Disney has been playing cat/mouse with him to flush him out."

Some believe that I have some sort of inside source with Disney or something. Nothing could be further from the truth. The truth is, the information is out there in tiny little fragments. I've just searched high and low to collect them and put them all in one place.

If anything, they don't have a single leak, but a thousand tiny leaks....once it's on the internet, it's free game for whoever sees it. :confused3

Tomorrow DV holders but it only goes through the first few days in October.

I would expect normal release times for room discounts in November but I honestly couldn't tell you when.

Thanks for your quick reply. Man, they aren't making it easy for anyone this year, are they?

Joe - is it looking as if November dates are NOT going to be released tomorrow afterall? I'm just wondering if it is worth the call in the AM...

OH! Mr. Black are YOU the "rumor monger" that everyone refers to?! I had no idea if that's the case! Certainly didn't mean any offense. And I agree! Once it's out there is free game for all.
