"It's Coming and it's BLUE" - A July 2010 TR - COMPLETED!!

JULY 25TH PART THREE: FULL MOONS AND FRANKENSTEIN

Hey everyone! I’m sooooo sorry it’s been so long since my last update, but life just can’t seem to refrain from being hectic and I just haven’t been in the mood to sit down and write. But I'm here now, with a ridiculously long update that probably should have been broken up into several parts, so let's do this.

First of all, I would just like to say LAP BARS ON SPLASH MOUNTAIN??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Do that many idiots really stand up/climb out/take pictures of themselves making stupid faces next to Brer Bear’s behind/go for a swim/realize that despite the song’s title, they have no “laughing place” so they try to escape so as not to fall into nothingness/decide they’ve had enough of their real-life family and would rather join a family of animatronic frogs/suddenly remember that they are deathly allergic to water/etc that they needed to install lap bars? Come on, people! It’s not that hard to follow instructions and REMAIN SEATED AT ALL TIMES. It’s stuff like this that makes me lose faith in humanity. I mean, nothing says intelligence like standing up while in a moving vehicle. *shakes head*

Anyway, when I last left off, I headed into dreamland for a quick little nap which I REALLY needed on account of the fact that I was tired. Like, zombie tired. Isn’t it funny how at WDW the tiredness never happens gradually? It’s like, one second you’re all full of energy and the next it’s BOOM. ZOMBIE. It reminds me of being a little kid again.

Mom, Dad, and Katie were all at the pool during my nap, so when they came back, they woke me up and we headed back to MGM for the evening.

I just had to take this picture of the ATM as we were walking through the GCH. Had to. I wish everything in life was this well-themed.
410.jpg

We headed outside, past all of the gorgeous greenery and fountains…and giant piles of luggage. Looking at all the luggage is always so depressing. I try to forget luggage exists while I’m at the World. It’s like, luggage? What is that? You put your stuff in it while traveling? Well, I’m pretty sure I’m never going to need to use that again. I’m quite content right here, thankyouverymuch.

Here’s a picture of the monorail beams and the bus stop.
413.jpg

If you look closely at this picture, you can see a bus pulling through the security hut thingy. It just so happened that it was an MGM bus…Well, technically it was labeled Hollywood Studios. I don’t know what that is, but I assumed it would take us to MGM so we boarded. ;)

We were the only people on the bus until we stopped at the Grand Floridian and picked up another family. I love (nearly) empty buses.

The bus ride was uneventful and before long we were dropped off right here. Well, not right here in the middle of the path, but near there.
414.jpg

I love coming back to the parks in the evening. The bag check lines are always short and it’s strange to see the front gates so empty.
415.jpg

We decided we were gonna go see the American Idol Finale show, but we had a little while before that started, so we slowly meandered up Hollywood Blvd, taking in all of the little details.
417.jpg

418.jpg

I’m a weirdo, crazy-person, but seeing everyone walking around with their Disney shopping bags gives me the warm fuzzies. It’s weird, I know. I don’t really understand why I love it so much, but I do.

419.jpg

420.jpg

421.jpg

423.jpg

I’m kind of obsessed with the colors of this building…teal and coral…They’re so fun and yet relaxing. I should probably move to Miami or something so that my future house won’t stick out like a sore thumb.

425.jpg

Dance studio? Where do I sign up for lessons?

We also took some pictures of the family (well, parts of the family) but as you can see, they aren’t very good.
190.jpg

In this one, we all look distracted by something.

191.jpg

In this one, we’re just making weird faces. I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this before, but as you can see, my family….we are just terrible at taking group pictures.

We headed over to the “Idol” theater, but instead of going in right away and being forced to stand and watch the pre-show, we decided to sit on the steps for a little while. We weren’t obsessed with finding a good seat or anything and it’s not like the theater would fill up (well, it would eventually, but once the crowd got really big, we would head inside).
426.jpg

While we were sitting there, the High School Musical show was going on, so we listened to that, and watched adorable little kids dance along. There was also a dad dancing with his kids and it reminded me of the scene where Phil Dunphy does the “We’re All in this Together” dance in the Modern Family pilot. Oh, Phil. My friends all say that I’m going to wind up marrying a Phil Dunphy and I’m ok with that. It’s fitting. Plus, I doubt Phil would mind going to Disney every year. We’d probably also have to go to family camp, but it can’t be that bad. I just hope that my Phil and I have a son as adorable as little Luke.

Moving on.

Once the pre-show area was adequately filled, we headed on in. I could’ve sat outside on the steps for another 5 minutes, but everyone else was freaking out that we would get shut out of the show, which obviously wasn’t going to happen, but I decided to just appease everyone and not make a big deal about it. You’ve gotta pick your battles…
427.jpg

We watched the rest of the pre-show before being mercifully herded into the theater. Which I just said in a British accent in my head. “Off to the theater!”

While filing in, I overheard a guy in the row behind us say something along the lines of wanting to sit in the back because “they make you dance and do stupid stuff up front.” It made me laugh. I love the “lack of enthusiasm” brand of Disney travelers. They crack me up with their “What in the world am I doing here?” faces and their judge-y “You do know that’s a guy in a costume, right?” looks.

I sat down expecting that terrible Rihanna song to begin any second, but it didn’t. They played the Black Eyed Peas’ Boom Boom Pow instead. I know, right? What are they thinking? I can’t stand Rihanna, but I can’t stand the Black Eyed Peas even more than I can’t stand Rihanna. Ugh. So instead of fist pumping to Rihanna, we fist pumped to the Black Eyed Peas and it was not fun. But thankfully the warm-up guy was entertaining. When describing how we should boo if the judges say something mean, he was like “pretend you’re from Cleveland and I’m LeBron James” and then sang the “Welcome to Miami – Bienvenido a Miami” part of the Will Smith song. Of course, we didn’t have to pretend. We just booed. Loudly. Like people from Cleveland do. Actually, we get really drunk and then throw things. And burn jerseys. And write angry letters in comic sans. And then we cry and drink some more. But I didn’t have any alcohol, matches, or a word processing device handy, so booing sufficed.

I don’t really remember any details from the actual show. Apparently it was really forgettable because I didn’t even take notes in my TR journal. And I keep pretty detailed notes in that thing. Obviously the girl we saw that morning sang "The Climb" again, so I probably got it stuck in my head again/was walking around belting it out in random people’s faces, but I don’t really know/remember. It’s been 6 months, can you blame me?

Anyway, after the show was over, we walked back towards Muppetvision because I really wanted to look in the gift shop. I love the Muppets!

428.jpg

I love that these gates pop up all throughout the park. They really give you the whole “I’m walking around a studio lot” feel.

429.jpg

It’s always so quiet and peaceful back here in the evening. Such a change of pace from the rest of the World.

430.jpg

431.jpg

I don’t know why this giant ice cream sundae is there, but I like it.

433.jpg

Oops I got Miss Piggy’s back. Let’s try that again.

434.jpg

That one’s a little better.

435.jpg

I love this face. It kinda looks like he’s plotting some elaborate escape. Doesn’t it look like he’s waiting for someone to stop looking at him so that he can run off and do something evil? Or maybe I’m just making all this up.

436.jpg

Of course, after seeing this sign, I started singing “Walk this Way”. Except it was “Walka-walka this way, Talka-talka this way”. I’m creative like that.

438.jpg

Kermie!

I didn’t take any pictures in the Muppet store, nor did I buy anything, but they had some cute stuff. I’m not big into the whole Vinylmation thing, but the Muppet-themed ones were adorable.

CONTINUED IN NEXT POST~

At this point, Mom and Katie headed back to Hollywood Boulevard to do some shopping since Katie had her eye on a pair of graduation mouse ears we saw earlier. Dad and I headed back to Toy Story Mania to ride again with our Fastpasses.

But first, we had to travel through New York,
441.jpg

And San Francisco.
442.jpg

I didn’t take any pictures in the queue/on the ride, but unfortunately, I was unable to make it a three-peat. Dad beat me. And let me know it. Although, when we were exiting the ride he was served his fair share of humble pie. I got off and was putting my 3d glasses in the glasses collector things and I turned around to say something to Dad, only to notice that he wasn’t there. He was still sitting in the ride vehicle. His lap bar was stuck. I immediately start dying laughing because that’s what I do when people I love are in peril. I mean, there’s just nothing funnier than seeing your family in ridiculous situations. Unfortunately for me, the CMs knew how to manually lift the bar, so he didn’t have to sit there forever, but “Court dismissed. Bring in the dancing lobsters.” Justice was served.

Once Dad escaped from the clutches of Toy Story Mania, we headed over towards the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater where we planned on meeting up with Katie and Mom for our 9:30 ADR. It was a little before 9:00 when we got there, so Dad and I just chilled outside and listened to the TV theme song loop that plays on Commissary Lane. I have an unhealthy obsession with TV theme songs so it was glorious. I mean, there’s just nothing better than a really good opening credits sequence. Someday, when I write my TV show, we are going to have the greatest opening credits ever.

Here are some pictures from the walk over.

We stopped for a quick detour at the Great Movie Ride to look at the footprints/handprints outside.

Here are Kermit’s.
446.jpg

Are his handprints not the cutest little things you’ve ever seen?

And here’s the queen of all things fabulous and polka-dotted…
447.jpg

449.jpg

450.jpg

I love that all of the meals at the ABC Commissary are named after TV shows. Except now that Lost and Ugly Betty are over, they should probably re-name a few of them.

452.jpg

451.jpg

Mom and Katie met up with us around 9:15, so we headed inside to check in. But not before taking a picture in the car outside of the restaurant. It didn’t turn out too well, but I’m posting it anyway.
194.jpg

As some of you may know, I was REALLY excited to eat at Sci-Fi. I’m kinda in love with the 50s. I mean, poodle skirts, milkshakes, American Bandstand…what could be better than that? Plus, I would FINALLY get to fulfill my lifelong dream of sitting in an old-fashioned car at a drive-in and over-dramatically bursting into some of the songs from Grease.

STRANDED AT THE DRIVE-IN, BRANDED A FOOL. WHAT WILL THEY SAY MONDAY AT SCHOOL?

Anyway, Mom checked us in and we had fun looking at the movie posters hanging in the waiting area.

We were going to take a picture of me and Katie in front of the Teenagers from Outer Space poster before remembering that there’s only one teenager in this family anymore.
455.jpg

Of course, I am from outer space, but now I’m a “Girl in her Twenties from Outer Space”. I don’t think it has quite the same ring as Teenagers from Outer Space.

We didn’t have to wait long before a roller skate-wearing hostess (awesome) came over to escort us to our ride for the evening. Not gonna lie, I gasped and then did a girly little squeal when we entered the Drive-In. It is so cool in there. Like, impossibly cool. I don’t know how to describe it other than by saying that it felt like the real thing. Obviously, I will never know what a real 1950s Drive-In feels like, but just go with me on this one. It felt realistic.

Anyway, we were taken to our car and it was pink, which Katie and I loved. We already knew what we planned on ordering, so when our waiter came, I gave him a quick “Milkshakes. Onion Rings. Go.”

It wasn’t long before this was placed in front of me.
456.jpg

It was delicious. I’m a bit of a milkshake addict. Ok, a bit is an understatement. I am obsessed with milkshakes. And this one was VERY good. Not quite as good as the pumpkin pie milkshake one of the local ice cream places sells in the fall, but it was pretty high on my list of delicious milkshakes.

Here’s a picture of Katie drinking hers, although they are super thick so drinking them was quite the challenge.
457.jpg

And here’s one of Katie and I (Ignore the fact that my eye looks really wonky)–
459.jpg

Here’s a kinda blurry picture of our onion rings. They were battered and fried onion heaven.
460.jpg

For our meal, Katie and I split a Reuben. Which they put on separate plates without us even asking. Thanks Sci-Fi! I mean, it's not like we're 5 anymore and refuse to eat off the same plate, but it was a nice touch.
462.jpg

Mom and Dad also got Reubens, and we all thought they were very good. I only ate, like, half of mine though because I was super full from the milkshake and onion rings.

Of course, the highlight of our Sci-Fi experience was watching the loop of ridiculous “horror” movies, cartoons, and Drive-In related bumpers. Being that my mom and I are, well, my mom and I, we laughed hysterically the entire time. On Gilmore Girls, Lorelai calls herself and Rory “unapologetic mockers” and the same can be said of my mother and I. We mock everything. Unapologetically. We mock bad movies. We mock (and then re-write) terrible songs. Even though I’m away at school, we watch American Idol together and text snarky comments back and forth the entire time. [Sidenote: Steven Tyler is my hero.] So if you put the two of us in front of a giant screen and show us the trailer for Cat-Women of the Moon “in startling 3D!” you can bet we’re gonna mock it.

And it was so much fun.

I wanna go back right now and drink a giant milkshake and watch The Horror at Party Beach, IT Conquered the World, and my personal favorite, Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster!

Anyway, after we got our fill of cheesy movies and paid the check, we bid adieu to the 50s and headed back out into the 2010s. Yuck. I would have rather stayed back in the 50s. Or found a way to wind up in ‘99/’00 to relive some of the best years of my childhood. But that didn’t happen, so 2010 it was.

We planned on heading straight out to the bus stop, but when we reached the giant sorcerer hat, we saw that the Rock and Glow Dance Party was going on so we decided to stop for a bit because Mulch, Sweat, and Shears (who I love because they cover awesome 80s songs) was just starting their set.
468.jpg

469.jpg

So Mom, Dad, and I sang along to “You Shook Me All Night Long”, “My Sharona”, and “Livin’ on a Prayer” (complete with pyro!) while Katie hid behind a tree because she was so embarrassed to be seen with us.

We headed down Hollywood Blvd. and over to the bus stop as Mulch, Sweat, and Shears played “We Will Rock You”. It was quite an interesting experience. I mean, I love me some Queen, but I really just wanted to slowly stroll down the gorgeously lit Hollywood Blvd. while listening to “Hooray for Hollywood”. But whatever.

We bid MGM goodnight and crammed ourselves onto a ridiculously over-filled bus. We were like, “Oh, we’ll just wait for the next one” but the driver insisted that we board. He was all, “We’ll make room! We’ll make room!” and then he got over the speaker and told everyone to squeeze back so we’d all fit. Which didn’t really make that much of a difference. We were packed together like sardines, but we were all behind the yellow line so the bus driver was satisfied. Even though we all had our arms pinned to our sides and couldn’t move. Seriously, that bus could’ve flipped over like 10 times and none of us would have moved an inch.

When we got back to the Polynesian, we took our time walking back to our room. I love walking around at night when all of the torches are lit and everything is so calm. After a day of excitement, that kind of serenity is much needed.

Here are some not so great pictures from our walk.

Here's our longhouse from across the marina.
482.jpg

I very much enjoy that this guy has no head.

208.jpg

Dad took this picture from our patio. There was a full moon that night. I assume that means there were some werewolves running around the parks.

Anyway, once we got back to the room, we all pretty much just collapsed into our beds and passed out. It was a LOOOOONG day. A fun day, but a long one.

Next up: "They're not gonna make it! They're not gonna make it!" *ride comes to a screeching halt* OH MY GOD WE DIDN'T MAKE IT!

Yay more MGM updates! It looked pretty empty that evening.

I loveee your pictures of the Muppets area, it's one of my favorite spots. I've never noticed the ice cream sundae before! How cute.

Ok, that's one of the best pictures I've seen of a Sci-Fi milk shake! YUM!

And I completely agree about the lap bars on Splash. I read in the thread over at the theme parks & attractions board that people actually stand up and try to touch Brer Rabbit when he's hog tied, right before you go down the big drop. People are real dumb.

OH my gosh Kara, what have you done? The milkshake looks so good, I'm craving one real bad right now. I think I'll pick one up on the way home.

The Amanda show reference! I LOVED that show! The GIRLS room. My goodness, I miss it. It was so good.

I love MGM. Just love it. If I could live there, I would. Crazy thing is, I spent a day and a half there, and still didn't see the new parts of it.

Wow....you make me really want to eat at the Sci-fi now. I wasn't so sure about it before, cause I didn't want to just eat foods we can get at home, but that theming is so worth it.

They're really in rollerskates??? I didn't know that!

YAYYY!!! You are back!! Woohoooooooooooo.

I love the teal and coral too! The architecture and design and colors of MGM is one of my favorite things in the world. As in... planet Earth, not Disney World.

Personally I think your group family pictures are adorable. There is a really funny photopass guy that was taking pictures in front of Spaceship Earth and he told us to do one normal picture and one where we were acting crazy and it's one of my favorite photos of the trip. You guys would do well with him haha!!

I AM IN LOVE WITH PHIL DUNPHY, you don't even know. Why do I always want to marry people who don't exist?

"that terrible Rihanna song"? You're going to have to be more specific than that. Like "one of the many, many horrific Rihanna songs delivered to us by Satan". AND I HATE THE BLACK EYED PEAS TOO. It's comforting that if you move to NYC and become a famous writer, and we road trip down to Disney, we will agree on the music played in the car on the way down.

I'm not into Vinylmation either. Disney is amazing at tricking people into thinking they need weird looking little figurines. I aspire to be that crafty.

"I immediately start dying laughing because that’s what I do when people I love are in peril." SAME.

It's so freaky the levels of like, things we have in common. When I was little I was so obsessed with TV theme songs that my aunt made me a mix tape of them. Not joking.

SCI FI!!!!!!!!!!! SKDJFLKASJDF;SDJ YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Oh I miss it!!

My mom and I mock everyone too. I often say to her, "I hate everyone except you." It's not that off base tbh. LOL.

I just realized I've never been to the Poly at night! How odd, but yeah, we've never stayed there and we usually visit in the morning for breakfast. I definitely am making a note of that for the next trip because oh it must be so nice to hang out on that beach at night.

Did Dinosaur break down while you were on it? Once when we were on it, it stopped during that red lighted area before you go into where all the dinosaurs are and I was like, "I'm pretty sure I'm being cooked right now, but it's fine."

It was really empty that evening. I was surprised. Although, there was a Fantasmic that night, so I'm assuming that's where all the people were.

I really wanna know what goes through those people's minds. I mean, just how have I made it through 20 years of living without ever having the urge to stand up on a moving ride and touch the animatronics?

One of my friends and I were OBSESSED with The Amanda Show when it was on. We would sit in her basement and do impressions of all the characters. And by impressions, I mean that we would recreate the "Hillbilly Moment" sketches and hit each other in the head with random things. Good times.

Eating at Sci-Fi is TOTALLY worth it. Sure, the food isn't very...original, but it's good and getting to watch hilarious cheesy movie clips while eating just makes it all the better. :thumbsup2

They weren't all in rollerskates, just the woman who took us to our "car". I don't know if that's normal or not.
YAYYY!!! You are back!! Woohoooooooooooo.

Aw thanks! I think my family needs to find that photopass guy. Maybe he can take our awkward and make it artistic. :rotfl:

Why do I always want to marry people who don't exist?
I know, right? It's so depressing. Screw cloning, scientists need to start figuring out a way to make fictional characters real. But not like multiple copies of the same character. Just one. I wouldn't want to live in a world where every crazy Twilight fan had an Edward Cullen of her own. That would just be terrifying.

"one of the many, many horrific Rihanna songs delivered to us by Satan"
Heh. It was "Please Don't Stop the Music" or whatever that song is called. Usually I just refer to all Rihanna songs as UGGHGHHSH because that's the sound I make when I hear one. Except for that "What's My Name" song that's popular now. Whenever I hear that I just start yelling TURN IT OFF. TURN IT OFF RIGHT NOW. I CAN'T EVEN.

It's comforting that if you move to NYC and become a famous writer, and we road trip down to Disney, we will agree on the music played in the car on the way down.
This is totally happening someday.

A TV theme song mix tape? That's awesome. I quite enjoy going to youtube and listening to all of the TV theme song compilations people make. I'm especially partial to all of the 90s Nickelodeon montages just because I'm ridiculously nostalgic like that.

Definitely go hang out at the Polynesian at night. It's so relaxing! The beach can get a little buggy (or at least it can in the summer...I don't know what it's like the rest of the year) but a few bug bites are worth it. Just pack some anti-itch stuff. :thumbsup2

It didn't break down officially, but we sat there for like 5 minutes in the "re-entry tunnel" or whatever the room at the very end with the flashing red lights is called. I'm not even kidding, as soon as the guy finishes his "They're not gonna make it! They're not gonna make it!" we come to a screeching halt and just sit there. No one in the car said anything for a few seconds until I was like "Oh" and giggled nervously. It was weird. But I'll write more about that in the next update!

Um, hello! I'm a lurker who has finally decided to delurk because your trip report seems terribly fun. :) Also, I may have an love for 90s music as well...

I'm so sad about the lap bars on Splash Mountain. I remember when I first rode it when I was about 8, that I was convinced I would fly out when we went down the hill, so I made my mom hold on to me. Children these days will never know that fear now. :sad2:

I need to see The Horror of Party Beach. I mean, you really can't argue with a movie that bills itself as "The First Horror Monster Musical". I can't think of any two genres that would go better together. Though I'm kind of disappointed because I just looked it up, and apparently the music is more soundtrack and not actually sung by main characters. Lame. I'd still watch it though.

It is flat out mind boggling and insane to me that anyone in the world thinks the What's My Name song is a good song. I mean, I hate all her songs but some I can admit are catchy. In the case of What's My Name, though, I think she actually may be joking. I hope.

Our Disney road trip will totally happen one day, just wait. :dance3:

I didn't even know people made TV theme song compilations on youtube. That website is just an endless goldmine.

I really want to watch Wishes from the Poly beach. It's something I've always seen recommended here on the DIS but have never done.

What a funny place to get stuck. I am always so insanely into the ride at that point. Meaning I am on the verge of having an embolism basically. So coming to a screeching halt would be quite jarring.

It is flat out mind boggling and insane to me that anyone in the world thinks the What's My Name song is a good song. I mean, I hate all her songs but some I can admit are catchy. In the case of What's My Name, though, I think she actually may be joking. I hope.

OH MY GAWD, I completely agree with you!!! It's SUCH A BAD SONG. Like....man.....it sounds SO BAD. Why is it so popular????? It makes my ears bleed

I forgot to comment on this, but Andrew and I have a feeling we're going to turn out a lot like Claire and Phil. But I'll be more fun of course. I LOVED it when they went to the movies with all their food stashed away, and Phil says, "I love us". SO CUTE! Andrew and I have started saying that

It really does sound bad. Like I can't imagine anyone selecting that song to put on unless they were trying to torture someone.

Awww omg. I don't really want a boyfriend at this point in my life but that is SO cute that you and Andrew joke that you will be Claire and Phil! The whole I LOVE US thing was so cute. I love how silly they are. I would want a boyfriend if it could be Phil. Or Alec Baldwin. Or Leonardo DiCaprio. Just in case they are reading this, I want to be clear. :rolleyes1

We also joke we're the Marshall and Lily in our group of friends too. We have a Barney and a Ted, but no Robin just yet. We've even tried to perfect the high-fives that they do in the show. "3 minutes is enough when you know what you're doing" *high five*

Yes, you definitely have to be clear. OMG, I was watching 30 Rock, the one where Liz pretends to be pregnant and when they first announce it to the station and she says, "I can't be pregnant, I've had my period for 61 days!" :rotfl2::rotfl2: I love Liz Lemon.

WELCOME! THANKS FOR DELURKING!! If you love 90s music, you'll definitely fit in well around here. :thumbsup2

I know, right? The best part of Splash Mountain is that fear that right as I'm going down the hill, the earth will tilt funny, gravity will stop working, and I'll go flying into the Briar patch. Now, I'm going to have to come up with a new completely irrational fear. Thanks a lot, Disney.

Exactly! Why are there not more horror movie musicals? They would be so entertaining. I think I've gotta add "Write Horror Movie Musical" to my list of things to do before I die.

Our Disney road trip will totally happen one day, just wait. :dance3:

I didn't even know people made TV theme song compilations on youtube. That website is just an endless goldmine.

OMG. They played "What's My Name" like, a gajillion times at the party I was at on New Year's Eve, and everyone was singing along. Loudly. I thought I was going to lose my mind. I was debating whether or not shoving a noise maker in my ear would cause irreparable damage.

Watching Wishes from the Poly is definitely an interesting perspective. I don't like it as much as I like watching it from the park though. Though, when watching from the Poly, you don't have to deal with the sea of people which is definitely a plus. But my favorite evening activity is finding a hammock and watching the Electrical Water Pageant. That thing is one big floating cheesefest and I love it.

OMG. Giant TV conversation. I love you guys!

Awwww, Yuki, I love that you and Andrew think you're going to turn out to be Claire and Phil. I actually think that as a parent, I'll be a lot like Claire. I mean, even now, I'm super over-protective, can be a bit high-strung at times, and I worry about everything. I'm definitely not going to turn out to be the "fun parent". I'm sure I'll have my moments, but that's definitely why my friends think I need a Phil to balance me out.

Lia, I know for a fact that Alec and Leo are reading this trip report - they PM me all the time - so I'm sure they'll be contacting you immediately to set up a date. I expect to be the Maid of Honor at the wedding. I look best in fall colors.

Marshall and Lily are adorable. Yuki, you're Canadian but you can't find a Robin? Hmm maybe you need to do the opposite and find an American to be your Robin. I'll volunteer. I'm not really like Robin, but I am good at being a stereotypical American. U-S-A! U-S-A! :cheer2:

Speaking of 30 Rock, after watching the end of the episode from two weeks ago when Liz and Jack give each other meaningful looks while that One-Republic song plays, I really wanted to make that song my ringtone just so that anytime it rang I could suddenly give people meaningful looks. But then, I was like, Kara, look at your life. Look at your choices. So I didn't. But I really want to.

Great update Kara! :thumbsup2 I am also a huge fan of Sci-Fi (as well as belting out the occasional lyric or two from Grease!). Those milkshakes are amazing!!! I wish I was sitting there enjoying a chocolate one right now... :cloud9:

OMG, I haven't seen the whole pageant in years! Another thing going on my list for next trip! Electrical Water Pageant on the Poly beach. It's so happening. In honor of you, my dear.

LOL as I was typing my reply to Yuki, I was like, Kara is going to love our little TV convo on her TR. My TR is not as much a TR as it is a conversation about television, so I understand.

Alec is at my house already. It's kind of annoying because I just want to live my life and he is acting like Leighton Meester in that hilarious movie, The Roommate. I'm not concerned though b/c I obviously like it.

Did I ever tell you that you are a flawless human being? Because you are. Please do that. And I was SQUEEing so loud during that scene that people who've gotten lost in the Bermuda Triangle heard me.

Those chocolate milkshakes are amazing. I'm dying for one right now.

Yay! Sing along to "Under the Sea" for me. And try to figure out why they play "Pour Unfortunate Souls" while the happy octopus lights up. I've been trying to figure that one out for years. I mean, he's smiling...maybe the music is trying to tell us something? Or they're just being racist against octopi and lumping them all into the "evil" category. C'mon people, it's the 21st century. It's time to end the prejudice against 8-legged sea creatures!

Why, thank you, darling! You are also a flawless human being. Not quite as flawless as me, but pretty close. ;) And maybe I will make that song my ringtone. It's currently *NSYNC's "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" because I never changed it back once Christmas was over. I'm trendy like that. But now that it's practically the middle of February, I should probably change it.

Hooray for TV talk on TRs!!!

I wish I knew how to load custom ring tones on my phone...It's super old too, so there aren't even instructions on the website to help me with that. As soon as I read the song title, the song came into my head. I love N'Sync.

Yes, I remember that 30 Rock episode. LOVED THE ENDING!!!! Love the set up for it too. I wish I had speakers connected to my ipod so I can do that too

I will always be a massive, crazy, fanatic *NSYNC fan. I feel like it's in my blood or something. I'll be doing the "Bye Bye Bye" dance until the day I die.

I just wish "Queen of Jordan" was a real reality show. I'm a sucker for all of the "Real Housewives" shows.

"It's my way 'til pay day." :upsidedow

Speaking of Bye Bye Bye, in elementary school, we had to choreograph group dances for gym class, and my group danced to Bye Bye Bye.

One of the best moments of my LIFE.
