ok everyone...it has been years since I had to really plan our Disney trip. We use to live in Florida so I didnt have to do too much planning. Now back in PA, so Im back planning things. My husband is active military. First question is the military tickets, I know they are only for 4 days. We want to stay 7 days. We are a family of 4. I know it says he can buy up to 6 passes. Im not sure if Im overthinking this, but how would we work this out? I know the military rates are not out yet for April or May for the rooms, but can we book room only with the military discount? Also would it make sense and is it possible to get the dinning package? Sorry if Im all over the place here.

As far as the tickets go, I know that you can buy the max and use them back to back for the parties in your family, however, with 7 days, I'm not sure this would work for 4 people. This is why we have only used those tickets once. It's just not long enough. But, there are other discounted tickets you could get, the Stars & Stripes tickets which are more like the regular hoppers.

When/if the military discounts come out, you can absolutely book a room only with the discount. You are allowed to add the dining plan if you chose as well. As a family, we do not find the value in the DDP so we haven't gotten it in years. You'd have to do the math to see if it works for you.

I am looking to go either March or April, but the prices are really high. I know thats without any discounts.

We often go in April. Love that time of year, and we have always been able to apply the military discount. Good luck!! :)

Ok, so we can get up to six four day passes correct? If Im thinking right we can use all six and then buy two day passes. Because we are staying for a week.

You could, but I think that would get pricey. The regular MYW tickets are front loaded in price, so 2 day tickets are quite expensive. You might be better off looking into the Stars & Stripes tickets.

I could be wrong though. We only used the 4 day passes once because we did 4 days in the parks before our cruise this past April. It's the only time the 4 day passes made sense for us. Otherwise, we get annual passes.

I'm in a very similar situation. Currently planning a trip in Nov 2017 with my family of 4 using military discounts. However, we are going for 8 nights. I have done all sorts of calculations to figure out the cheapest way to do tickets, and it was just slightly cheaper to buy 6 salute tickets and 1 military discounted 8 day ticket.

However, it seemed like the extra work of managing all of those tickets wouldn't be worth the extra hundred dollars or so, so we are going to purchase 4 8-day tickets from my husbands base, with a military discount.

For the room, I'm hoping they will continue the salute offer. We'd like to stay deluxe with the 40% discount, but if we can't get it we will probably go with a value resort. I've been glued to the Internet lately, hoping for an announcement soon with military discounts for 2017. I'd really love to start booking.

And yes, from what I understand you can add the dining plan to a military room only discount. We intend on doing it, because we are going to do several character meals and I think it will save us money.
