It's been a while...

since I've made non-DVC reservations. Going in October for a few days with DH before my DD arrives with SIL and staying at either GF or YC.

I have a question about AP rates. They are not out for October yet. If I make a reservation now, can I just call and apply the AP rate if it's available then or is it a whole new reservation?

Having a little sticker shock after staying in DVC for all these years.

We are also waiting for AP rates this fall, but in the meantime we were able to get a AAA rate for our Sept. reservation. If an AP rate is released for our dates and its better than the AAA rate, we will call back and have it applied. But the dates for the AP rates are sometimes hit-or-miss so while we wait to see if an AP rate is released for our dates, the AAA rate saved us about $300. YMMV.

I would do what PP suggested, book AAA rate now. A certain number of rooms are alotted for AP rates--it is not resort wide so you stand a chance (been there, done that) of the AP rate rooms being sold out (VERY quickly).
