It's Back-January Trip-A-Day Contest!

Wow! Thanks pmaurer74, Disney Mama of 2, Kirby, lvdis, DisneyDreamer421, Disneyglobegirl, allysetraskos, loveshak22, whositsandwhatsits, wendow, and everyone else for all the quick and thoughtful feedback!

We’ve been talking about resorts based on general preferences and themes, and pictures we’ve seen online, but we realize we still have a lot to research! We've never been to WDW, so we don't have the benefit of having ever visited the resorts or parks in person. You’ve all given us a lot to think about.

I thought the sunrise safari was only for CL guests? But I may be confusing our tour with something else? Maybe you can pay to upgrade to CL at a discount and I wouldn't think it would be too outrageous?

This just goes to show how much we don’t know! I looked it up when I got home today, and indeed the sunrise safari was for club and DVC members only but has stopped being offered altogether effective end of last year.

Well, I stand corrected after spending a lot of time there in December. That resort took my breath away! It was stunning! I could have been happy the whole week just sitting in the lobby listening to the pianist playing Christmas music, watching the families (and occasionally a bridal party) getting their pictures taken in front of the gorgeous tree, smelling the gingerbread that permeates the air, etc. It was just that great.

You’re tugging at my heartstrings! AKL is the current family favorite, but both my wife and I love, love, love the holidays and Christmas at GF sound so festive!

Serial

We normally stay in deluxe villas with dvc. Our points can be used at any dvc resort. The draw of the monorail resorts are that it's better for transportation. The monorail has a line for other resorts and another for MK. To get to Epcot you must transfer at ticketing to the monorail for Epcot.

Since I have been traveling to WDW with my kids being as young as 6 months, the advice I can offer is to stay closer than AKL. Since you would like to go in November/December, stay at a MK resort or Epcot. You will appreciate being close to the parks, especially when your toddler needs a nap or quiet time.

I think you will be amazed at how large disney world is compared to Disneyland.

I need to win today. It is my mom's birthday and her retirement day as well!

I would love to surprise her with a Disney Trip!

I have had a general feeling about GF that you did. I've always thought it was gorgeous but figured that would be somewhere to stay by ourselves or when the kids were older, if we could ever afford it. That sounds wonderful at Christmas time though!

We're thinking we'll stay at the Poly when we win. We walked to it multiple times while staying at Shades of Green and loved it. It's so beautiful and our kids are 7 and 4 so while we don't have an infant or toddler anymore, a monorail resort is still so appealing. Plus, they spent an evening at the kids club there last year and didn't want to leave. I think they had more fun there in one night than in the parks some of the days of the trip. lol WL would be nice too. That's totally DH's theme and he'd love to stay there sometime.

Well I was able to enter again this morning no problem and although I know it could be a couple weeks before all people are notified, it's just feeling like I've come to the end. I'm not sure if I'm suppose to try to enter tomorrow or not. I will try but not sure where the Pixie dust falls.

I was having weird dreams about our house being on fire and getting everyone out last night. I found myself fluffing the covers a lot. Maybe this is a sign I really need to go to Disney to be in the warmer weather. Does Poly have a volcano that I'm suppose to explore?

Ok ya back to reality. Lots to do today.

hugs

I feel the same way. After tomorrow, no more chances to enter.

My family goes to Disney a lot. I just really wanted to give my girls the chance to stay at the castle. They love the princesses.

I just hope that the people that win fully appreciate how special the castle stay is.

Well, no matter where you stay, if you go around Christmas, you must do the Christmas party. Maybe you have done it at DLR? Yes, it is way overpriced but with a family your size, it wouldn't be too much. We found it to be just magical. One of the highlights of our trip. I almost cried several times during the Christmas parade. It brought back so many memories of Christmas as a kid.

I do have to agree with the pp who said they would stay closer than AKL with a little one. It is a long ways out from everywhere but AK. We tend to go back to our room midday for a few hours and being on the monorail makes that so, so easy. You will have to bus to AKL and it can take close to an hour depending on time of day, how many other people are getting on, etc.

And like a pp said, WDW is HUGE! We've been to both (DLR only once) and it's hard to wrap your brain around the size difference until you see it.

Since this includes park hoppers I would consider an epcot resort. I loved staying at beach club and Boardwalk and being able to walk over to Epcot (and even HS) anytime I felt like it. Even with toddlers when we'd come home for a break dh would nap with the little ones and I went over to Epcot to grab a coffee and poke around in the shops. Or at night being able to go over to Epcot after the other parks close (esp in winter) was fun.

We stayed at AKL with four kids including toddlers this trip and it was totally fine. They enjoy the bus actually.

I entered fine yesterday and today. I will try to enter tomorrow though I am not sure either if those entries even matter. I did not think I would win, had very little hope of winning, so I am not too let down.

I have to share that I feel like I won a trip even though I didn't. So we just got back in December (from my aunt's winning trip...otherwise we could not have afforded to go last year), and my dh found out he has to go to a conference in April. My dh never has to travel or go to conferences so this is out of the ordinary. Well, guess where it is!?! The Contemporary!!!! We will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary in June and had wanted to take a kid-free trip (never have) so I am going with him and we'll stay a couple extra days!! His airfare is covered, mine was with points, all nights but one of the room are covered and his meals. So, it is *kind* of like winning!! No night in Cinderella castle but that is ok...maybe another time :goodvibes

WOW you are kidding! That is a win!! I know the Castle is not included but wow what an awesome chance and savings. You did win.

I got a little pixie dust, i guess. My husbands company does what they call 9/80 work schedules. He has not been on that schedule for a very long time. (over a year) and last year we squeaked by with vacation time to go to Disney because of the way he had used his days PTO (personal time off which is basically sick and vacation time combined). Well today he was told that the whole department will be doing that again. So the plus is he will have ever other Friday off. And the not so plus is that he will need to go in earlier or work later each day. So that does open up some other get away time or get stuff done around the house time. It's not Disney but it is valued time. We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm blown away. I can't believe your husband "has to travel" and they are "making him" go to the Contemporary. That's luck. Wow.

Ya I hear you on the Castle for your princesses. I'm a princess at heart so to be able to experience that royalty feeling would be so nice. I've seen pictures from someone elses vacation and it's so nice. Besides to come home with that glass slipper. That will be something to talk about.

The whole Castle part was why I had considered taking my husbands God daughter. Can you imagine how cool we would be in her eyes to give such an opportunity. Although I do question how much some little girls would understand what a once in a life time opportunity that is.

Oh well. I'm gonna try to focus on all the little daily pixie dust I get, including I woke up this morning and I'm healthy. (oh and my house really isn't on fire like the dream I had told me)
:dance3:

Have a great day everyone.

sigh Wow Contemporary Resort business trip. Wow.

Thanks for being happy for me!! I guess this is the first time they have done WDW for a conference so we are going on the right year ;)

My dh does a 9/80 schedule too. It's great! He did them for about 8 years at his old company and then when he changed jobs in 2008, that was the hardest thing to give up. Then about two years ago, his current workplace began doing them so he has them again. He does have a longer workday but he is a manager so he had to work longer anyways. Now he works about the same but gets every other Friday off. Love it!

Congrats on your dh moving to that schedule :cool1: We are doing lots of home remodeling and that one extra day every other weekend really helps to speed up projects.

My husband is a manager too and that was why he told me he wasn't taking them anymore. So this "forced" schedule works for me. He used to also have to travel and hasn't in a while, so ya now I'm wondering if he has to do that now too. This is a new project he is on so I am pretty much expecting daily news of some change. I'm not complaining cause he is working and does provide for our home. LOL I guess I don't like changes that are out of my control.. :confused3

I texted him a little bit ago and told him that his new project needs to have a conference at the Contemporary. :lmao: He didn't reply laughing or ya righting me.

uh here is the male and female Cardinals on my feeder. What beautiful birds they are. I love wen they visit. I could watch them for hours.

In case you are missing the posts on the boards changing. The date has been updated and they are doing it this Sunday, February 1.
So if you are looking to come on to DIS Sunday, it might be down while they change the system over and work out the kinks.
I hope I can find this thread easy enough.

We still have a couple weeks to watch for DIS winners.

I just freaked out because I saw the title of an email saying Daily Sip.. and I thought at first it said Disney Flip.... I am going crazy! At least it will be over fairly soon...:worried:

I just hope that the people that win fully appreciate how special the castle stay is.

I know! We may be stressing over where to stay for the other 3 nights, but we haven’t lost sight that the real prize is a night in Cinderella’s Suite. That’s truly priceless.

We still have a couple weeks to watch for DIS winners.

Hasn’t it been 5 or 6 days since our last winner, DisneySide, reported in? We need more winners! Good luck everyone!

And thanks for all your feedback!

I just got an e-mail from Disney Destinations-but it was just a reminder to start making my plans. We are going next Friday and it reminded me to book the EPCOT Illuminations Dessert Party. The last thing I need is to be eating more desserts, let alone paying to eat more desserts. Me and my husband are like that old commercial, where your kids cannot figure out why we keep going back to Disney-seriously-we have a blast.

I guess I am a winner after all. :lmao:

Check out this portion of an email I found in my spam folder:

Gee with this winning I can build my own castle.
Well being the greedy person that I am, and wanting things my way, I guess I'll delete that email and wait for the one from Betty.

Now how can I say I don't win anything when this is what my 4th email of this kind. I must be lucky.
:confused3

Outside has the snoap look that I saw when I was at WDW last year the week before Thanksgiving. It is pretty but I've seen enough snow.

ah my friend that just got home from WDW wrote out a $2200 check to the well company. She is in an area that doesn't have city water and their well pump died within days of her pixie dust vacation. Good thing the vacation was before this bill.

There are much worse things then not winning a night in the Castle.
(or an conference at Contemporary. :lmao: )
(or not being sure what deluxe resort to pick)

:littleangel:

Have a pixie dust day everyone.

I can soooo relate. And from what I heard from a friend that went to the one at MK, people really can be rude in trying to get their money's worth.

I'm with you on the going back. After all I don't have much of a life other than thinking, reading and posting about Disney.

The other day my husband said "hey I have an idea. Let's talk 10 people into going to Disney when we want to go and then maybe we can get our trip for free". He's been reading too many group rate ads.

:rolleyes1
