It's Back-January Trip-A-Day Contest!

More trouble entering today. I had mutiple stuff like no enter button, tried the spanish site, no luck there, then I finally entered and it said reached the maximum and then it said thank you for your entry. Never had that before.

It always said try again later. So of course I really dont know if the entry has been successful or not, sigh.

:wizard: Pixie dust for my friend.

We are going to have a storm tomorrow and she was suppose to come home tomorrow late afternoon/evening. Well in anticipation that her flight would be canceled, she checked with Jetblue and they move her flight to Sunday, AND she was able to move from POP to POR for her layover night.

That's pretty cool. I'm happy for her.

Now I just need to get my email on Monday and I'll be even more happy. LOL

Lucky her! I just had to push my FL (Non-Disney trip) back 2 weeks because of this stinking storm!

I'm definitely angry with myself but we were just there in September. I also think things happen for a reason so I'm hoping the family that won really needed a fun vacation. Who knows, maybe they'll pick me again.

That's an amazingly positive attitude!! :goodvibes

Although so sorry to hear that happened and they didn't send you a second email or call you!

So, now that it is day 22 of the contest, I was wondering... What does "maximum submissions exceeded" actually mean?

Does it mean, my entry didn't work because too many people were trying at that time or my actual entry didn't work?

Because that is usually followed by try again later- ok, like later that day or later as in tomorrow?

Am I overthinking this?:confused3

I just found out about this cite that lists contests and sweepstakes and they have a listing of Disney vacation contests. I just entered about 12 different contests with Disney vacations as the prize.

I know how excited we all are about winning a Disney vacation so I thought I would share the web address. contests.about.com

Also, if you join the disney movie rewards club they let you know about current disney sweepstakes. There is no fee to join. When you purchase disney movies or tickets to Disney movies, they are equal to points that you can enter toward redeeming Disney merchandise with the club membership. You can also sometimes use those points for multiple entries for some of the sweepstakes.

Congratulations to the winners and good luck to the rest of us.

open your trash can and see if it is still in there. I wonder if you can contact someone to see if you can still claim the trip?

I looked in my deleted e-mails but they only go back to January 13 (it automatically deletes after a week or two) and I think the e-mail landed in my junk e-mail folder and when I delete them they get deleted immediately without going through my deleted e-mail folder.

I am going to send Disney an e-mail letting them know how fishy the winning e-mail looks so maybe they can correct it and in the future people won't think it's junk. I've been trained at work not to even open anything that looks suspicious and if I'm thinking of the correct e-mail, I think the name was in all caps and I think it had "Miss" in front of the name. Most legitimate e-mails don't use a title in the e-mail like that nor are the names all in caps.

I assume the sweepstakes rules state the e-mail will not be coming directly from Disney so it's my own fault I deleted it but I think most people would be leery of opening it.

Oh well, as I stated earlier, I hope the person who was notified after me has a blast! Hopefully it was a DISer who will post pics and a trip report.

What is this affidavit that we need to fill out and send back?? What type of information is asked for that some people would be hesitant to give??

I just read the sweepstakes rules and it states they could try to call winners instead of just e-mailing them. I received quite a few hang-up calls the last few days so maybe if the winner doesn't respond to the e-mail, they call. Unfortunately, I was never home when they called if it was them.

Pretty basic stuff promising you are who you say you are and you followed the rules set forth in the contest. I really don't think they ask anything too personal.

It is to bad that the emails that are coming out to notify the winners aren't more obvious. It would be nice if it said Disney Flipside contest in the subject or something. I wonder how many people deleted messages from Betty and Ventura. I know that I have only been checking the subject for the word Disney. Oh well their contest so their way but it would be nice if it was more obvious.

I don't know the subject line of this year's email but last year's email did mention the name of the contest in the subject line.

The last two days I keep receiving an error message. I assume it is because I am already a winner. Waiting for notification.

Another winner reporting in!

Let me preface by saying that my wife and I tend to be very careful with online privacy, but talked about it and thought the rest of the Disboards community would appreciate sharing in our good news since we’ve gotten lots of useful information from these boards over the years. So, please understand if I don’t share too much personal detail or name third parties.

Let me also say that our home park is Disneyland – never been to WDW – so I don’t venture here very often and found this thread as we begin to plan our vacation. I’ve scanned through the thread, and congratulations to winners Iri920 and Reality to FANTASY and good luck to all of you entering (there’s still time left)! I also see there are a lot of questions out there so I’ll answer what I can. I know we’ll have plenty of questions in the coming months to ask WDW vets and we appreciate the reciprocity.

I’ll say we won a drawing in the first two weeks of January; received an email notifying us that we’ve been selected as a “potential winner” 7 days after the drawing that it said we won, which gave us until 5 p.m. EST two days later to respond. The email came from Ventura Associates using an @sweepspros.com email address and arrived around noon PST, so +3 hours EST. I checked out the sender’s information and Ventura online and against the official rules, and everything checked out.

Despite what has been posted in this thread, neither the subject line nor the body of the email is ambiguous, and you can’t mistake this for spam if you’ve entered the sweepstakes and read the email. The email goes to the one you use to enter everyday – so make sure it’s one that you check. The email did not land in the spam folder. The subject line clearly states: “Disney Flip Side Sweepstakes - Potential Winner - Please Respond,” with the date for which you won in parenthesis. The body is substantially similar to the email from last year that wendow posted many pages back. It tells you that you entered the Disney Flip Side Sweepstakes and that your entry has been selected as a potential winner. It seems you are only a “potential winner” at this point because Ventura has to make sure you’re eligible to win under the rules. The email then asks for your name, mailing address, phone number, and date of birth to determine your eligibility. We replied with this information within the two days.

Ventura followed up with another email with an affidavit attached and instructions. The affidavit asks you to affirm that you’ve complied with the rules and contains certain releases. The affidavit also asks for the names and occupation/employers of you and your immediate family, your address, date of birth, telephone number, email address, and social security number among other things. I assume they need your employer’s information because Disney and Ventura employees are excluded from the sweepstakes. They need your SSN for tax purposes, i.e., the 1099 form they’ll eventually mail you. I can see why some people would be hesitant to disclose their SSN, but like I said they checked out. The affidavit needed to be notarized, then emailed or faxed back, and the original copy mailed to Ventura. We did so and, after a few days, we received the official congratulations by email.

Everything was done over email, which made sense because you enter with your email. I suppose they might call you if you don’t respond and your number is available in your Disney account. We never received any calls. I don’t know where the notion of FedEx packages came from. That seems to be outdated information. However, Ventura did need a non-P.O. Box address for mailing purposes. So I suppose at some point they'll send us something.

We were told to expect someone from Disney Parks to contact us in the next few weeks!

Congratulations. :cheer2:

I hope you enjoy your first trip to DW. Thanks for all the information.

 Congratulations on your win! Appreciate the information your shared with us. It was exciting and interesting to read :thumbsup2

Argh! I wish I had read this thread a week or so ago. I received the email but it really looks like junk. I saw it on my phone and didn't see Disney in the subject line because the screen is so small. I also remember laughing about being a "potential" winner before I hit the delete button. I just hope the family that won because of my fear of computer viruses and phishing scams has a wonderful trip.
This happened to me last year. I got an email in my spam folder from Sweepspros and saw potential winner and Disney but it really just looked like another enter here spam. I thought to myself I am already entering and hit delete. About a week later I read on Dis that someone received their winning email from Sweepspro.
