Hi all

We are planning to hire a car for the first time this year but are confused by all the levels of cover on option. From gold to premium the options are endless.
What plan do most people book? Do you just go with the top plan available or does the basic one have all you really need?
Bit clueless so any advice would be appreciated.
We are going to be in West Palm Beach before heading to Orlando so would be picking it up in West Palm Beach and returning it to Orlando airport.

Different companies have different names for things.
If using a UK agent you need all inclusive insurance. Gold usually means extra drivers and a tank of gas but no better insurance.

Thanks that's kind of what I thought. What's the best companies to go through we were looking at Alamo or Hertz

If you are not going for 8 months just keep looking for a deal, I usually book about 1 month before we go. Car hire is last thing I think about.

Thanks wayneg that's really helpful. As I said never done the hire car thing before so any extra info helps.

I go with alamo and wait till one month out to book. Its interesting as I was looking the other day for 19 days and the price has come down a lot over £100 difference for a compact 4 door than last year could be the dollar value of course
