It's amazing, isn't it!

I know, I know, it happens every year, but still, seeing your plants pushing their way through the soil, is so exciting!!! It's almost like seeing a good friend again, one who's been away much too long.

My new daylilies, the bleeding hearts, the columbine, delphiniums, sedum, phlox, yarrow, geum and lithodora, they're all starting to stretch out! The hostas are sticking their noses out! My slow-poke coreopsis are visible. The lilacs are starting to bud, and even my monkshood, the last thing to bloom in the fall, are a good 3-4" tall! It may not sound like much, but they are on the move!



Now, if only we could string together an entire week of warm weather, they'd all really take off! It'll happen....sooner or later.

LOL Snowwark! I'm most honored if you use "yarden". I heard it somewhere so long ago that I don't remember the source.

My bleeding heart is in bloom, some of my roses are blooming, and the dicentra is so much bigger and prettier than last year. Even my poor wisteria is putting out leaves.
The kids have been picking strawberries for a while. I planted them a veggie garden the first week or so of March. They have some almost knee high corn, sunflowers about to bloom, many baby squash on the bushes, and the peas are looking good.

We've got plenty of warm weather, but we're praying for rain. Even the children are more than willing to forgo the outdoor Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow, if only we get a bit of the forecasted 60% chance for tomorrow.
It tells you how darned dry it is here when my 9 year old says he wishes "it would rain for 3 days!"

Not much is up here that I notice...I do see some campanula sneaking up where i though I moved it from..

Hopefullly within a week or two they will move the deck off my garden.

Bleeding heart, purple heart, dalilies, glads, tulips, irises, daffies, stargazers, hyacinths, roses, liatris, other lilies. It does give me a charge to see them....

So much is happening here. Bleeding Heart, apple blossoms, buds on lilacs, forget me nots, tulips, lamium, peonies are up, as are the hosta, and of course dandelions!

LOL Mary, the dandelions are growing here too, along with everything else.

Yesterday was awesome, sunny and mild, an invigorating, uplifting, kind of day. lol....

My monkshood is now 9" tall!! Yep, I measured it.

Dandave, do you have a camera? I'd love to see your roses, strawberries, and sunflowers. Well everything, actually!

Hi Snowwark! DH bought me a digital camera for Christmas, but I'm still not very good with it.
I've had a heck of a day volunteering at the children's school, but I did manage to get a few photos. As soon as the DIS approves them, I'll post them. They aren't much, but I do enjoy sharing. Thanks!

You didn't know we were here? I've often thought it would be a good idea for the DIS to advertise or feature a different board a month, maybe on the Community board. This isn't the first time a poster has mentioned that they didn't know about us. Perhaps I should suggest that to the "powers that be"?

Oh, and Snowwark.....how come all that stuff is budding in YOUR yard! I'm several hundred miles south of you and with the exception of daffys....my stuff is just coming out of the ground! No lilac buds YET!! WWWAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

Yes, spring is a miracle, and this is one of the prettiest springs that we've had. Daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, and more bulbs, and then all kind of flowering trees and bushes.

Today I cleaned much of the muck from my little pond. I have soooo many goldfish. I'm going to ask my college students, I teach p/t, if anyone wants to adopt a few, provided they can give a good home, of course.

Hi Ya'll!,
Sorry it took me so long to get back. Anyway, I've got a great and beautiful yarden! When we bought our house the backyard was just this huge, vast spot of nothing. We've got pebble walkways and themes throughout now! I've got an "English Garden" section, a "natural" garden, an "oriental" garden and a "kitchen" garden. As soon as I can figure out how to post pictures (we have a digital camera) I will!

LOL, I'm glad you added that disclaimer at the end, Gina. That was a pretty thick layer of manure you were spreading! You know that I prefer to think of my role here as more of a WalMart type greeter, in a straw hat and garden gloves.

I AM SO JEALOUS. All that beautiful stuff I can't have and you are all so much better gardeners. What I do have are 3 amarylilis bulbs I put in a year and a half ago. They have spread - one bulb is the size of a football. The flowers on that one are an incredible 9 inches. Funny last year they bloomed in mid-March and this year in April. No matter - now that I know how well they do I am going to get MORE.
