It's ALL about the FOOD! An October 2012 PTR! - Trip Report Started.

Hello! Happy Monday! Only 4 more Mondays till its trip time!!

Trip plans for Tuesday, October 23rd

This is the day I have down for tentatively seeing the Rope Drop Opening at MK! I've heard its a pretty awesome show so I'd love to see it but I don't know if we will manage the early morning if we do EMH the night before! I guess we will see!!

Other than that the plans are up in the air until dinner time.

Dinner is at Yachtsman Steakhouse. This is a meal we were just okay with the last time. In fact I think I wrote in my DR that it was good but nothing spectacular and we would only return if we had extra dining credits. Well we don't have dining credits to burn but the reviews have been really good lately and I don't ever cook myself steak so to Yachtsman we will go!

Plus I think these alone are reason enough to go!!

Lobster Bisque soup...

Heirloom Tomato Salad (I believe)

And plain charred meat (I think they are doing them with different sauces and such now which add to the appeal)

Sorry... I forgot to take the pics before we started eating...

And the best part of the meal.

Desserts!!

Except for the desserts we received at Citrico's (that actually came from V&A) these were the best of the trip!

So after what I am hoping is a wonderful meal at Yachtsman we will catch a bus to Downtown Disney for the late La Nouba Performance!

After La Nouba... It will either be to bed or to Raglan Road if we are still awake to check out the entertainment there!

I hope you make it to rope drop! It really is such a cute show!

All that food at Yachtsman looks really good! I hope you'll enjoy it more this time. :thumbsup2

Very cool that you get to go to La Nouba! Have you seen it before?? I've never seen any Cirque show so I'm betting it'll be amazing.

I'm glad I ate lunch before I read your post. Everything looks fantastic!

It was a good meal! Definitely filling!! Looking forward to seeing what they are doing differently 3.5 years later!

No we haven't seen La Nouba. We have seen several in Las Vegas. A few we didn't really care for! I think La Nouba has more of the traditional Cirque characteristics and so am really looking forward to it!

Day 13 is October 24, 2012 This day is a Wednesday and it is also unfortunately our last Park Day. :furious:

I do have it planned to be a second AK day but that will all depend on how much we did the first day and if we want to go back again! I am thinking I will want to go back to at least ride the Safari and EE again. We do not have a lunch ADR anywhere so it will either be a last minute reservation or CS somewhere!

Depending on how long we are at AK or if at all we will hop to another park. Since this is the last park day I want to do as much as possible!

This is the night that I have down that we COULD do Fantasmic if we really want to lol. We will see if we are in the mood for waiting or not.

I also have tentatively down Bluezoo for dinner. I sent an e-mail to the Swan/Dolphin to forward a question to the chef about a few menu items so I am hoping it was forwarded and we will hear something soon so I can make some decisions!

Just cause we need some pics here we are in AK!

First thatlunch with John Lasseter sounds AMAZING! SO JEALOUS! That is going to be so sweet, lucky you got in!!

Second, I did not enjoy our meal at Yachtsman :confused3 but hopefully yours will be fantastic. Granted I don't eat steak LOL but DH does and we just have an overall poor meal. Oh well. We also haven't had good luck at Citricos, which is your favorite it seems...LOL...

To top it off with La Nouba though - man so jealous! You have some really awesome plans for your trip!! We saw it for our honeymoon in 2007, and I would love to see it again, and it made me really want to see more of them but that has yet to happen!

And as for your last park day...BOO! But sounds like fun! I love AK. I could go back there simply to ride Dinosaur!

I'm excited about the John Lasseter lunch! I just read that people are bringing their kids to the lunch because it is John Lasseter... Um... I have a feeling he's not bringing a movie with him! I hope it is not to many kids!

What did you have to eat at YSH? What did you not like about it?

Citrico's was awesome. We had a lot of chef interaction there though so I think without it it would not have been the same experience. Our waiter the second time was a doufus lol. If not for the same chef and our dessert experience it would also not have been the same. The food was still excellent both times though!

I know... it is SAD that it is the last park day! Especially since we will still be there a full 1.5 days afterwards!

How exciting that you will be seeing La Nouba! Should be a great experience. ;)

If you are able to do RD after EMH the night before, you have wayyy more stamina than me!!!! Actually, I loved hearing about your park plans. It is interesting to see the thought process that goes into park planning with other people.

The John Lasseter lunch sounds AMAZING!!!!!!! Good for you for getting it!!! Hopefully there won't be too many distracting kids in attendance!

La Nouba sounds like fun and my hubby loves Cirque shows so even if he is tired of Disney by this point hopefully he will remember the fun events!

Yeah... I am far more a morning person than a late night person (but yet I work night shift?! :confused3). On my days off I am always awake early. I would have to think the EMH won't happen and then hopefully the Rope Drop will. I have heard Rope Drop is cute so I want to see it!

Planning the park days is the hardest for me this trip with all the F&W event stuff I've planned. It means a LOT of time in Epcot. 4 of the 10 park days we HAVE to be in Epcot and I imagine we will be there a few more partial days so half the trip will be there!

I'm hoping! But if there is! Well not much I can do about it! :rotfl:

I don't know about bringing their kids "BECAUSE" its John Lasseter, hopefully they are well behaved and don't ruin it, but I guess I can see that at lunchtime it might be difficult not to, esp if they are allowed (Disney wouldn't let them come if not - isn't lunch with an imagineer like 12+ or something?).

YSH hmm. I know DH had the lobster bisque. We were underwhelmed by the popovers BUT we make them at home all the time and they are hot & steamy right from the oven and like 3 times the size, so we are spoiled. I think he had some sort of steak as well. I had a form of caprese salad which was good. As for the entree I have NO IDEA and looking at allears' menu isn't helping. I don't know where my Disney pics are at work or if I even have them here. BUT as you eluded to about Citricos, it was actually the service that ruined the meal, I think the food itself was okay. We had a later (for us) ADR for around 7:30 but the place was super busy and we weren't seated for OVER AN HOUR, and we were so tired, waiter never apologized for long wait just sort of rushed us through, brought entrees before we were done with Apps, etc etc. Just the whole thing was bad. I'm sure that could have been 100% alleviated by a better experience.

Actually same with Citricos, although I had the squash ravioli, which I remember despite that being 5 years ago, because the dough of the ravioli was not cooked at ALL and was disgusting, but I never could get ahold of our waiter. He dropped off the meals, and we didn't see him again until he brought our check. We were obviously dressed up (never wear park attire to that sort of restaurant) and well mannered, but we were treated like SCUM there. It was horrible. If there is one restaurant that it would really take a LOT of pleading to get Andrew to return to, it would be Citricos. Just a horrible experience. :confused3

And to be honest, Citricos was the reason for writing to Disney after our 2007 Honeymoon trip. I wrote up a long letter detailing some of the BEST experiences we had (including the segway tour of EPCOT) and then some of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. That letter prompted the free moderate resort (stemming from a foul smelling room we received at CBR that wasn't fixed or changed for 3 days) night that we are finally using for our December stay at POR! :goodvibes (Plus I think $100 Disney Gift Cards which we used back in 2010).

The posts I read on the Disney Parks Blog the people said they made the reservations for them and their child since it is John Lasseter. :confused3 I personally would not pay $130 for my kids to meet a person but hopefully if they have that kind of money they go out often and the kids know how to behave in restaurants! The price is the same regardless of age and there is no age limit. Just the under 21 can't have the wine pairings (which is the whole point of the meal!)

I am REALLY sorry that you did not have a good experience at Citrico's. Like I said it holds fond memories for hubby and I. Here is the Reviews of our time there... #1 #1 desserts #2

Bad service definitely ruins meals. But it sounds like your actual meal had issues as well!

I am glad Disney responded to your letter about the resort and the meal! Can't go wrong with a free stay and some GC's!!

I did change my Citrico's dinner to a night AFTER the lunch there so we will decide if we want to eat there again or go somewhere else!

Hooray to La Nouba and that John Lasseter lunch! Terrific additions. I also love your huge bag. I find bigger bags allows a person to be better prepared. XD

Hello!!

There really are no changes to this day!

I wasn't about to cancel my V&A Chef's table ADR! Although finances tell me otherwise! :rotfl2:

We will sleep till we wake up and then see about having breakfast or lunch somewhere. I don't want to eat too late though as the ADR for V&A is at 5pm!!

The night will be filled with deliciousness and then we will fall into a food and wine induced coma!

We may take a Taxi back the VWL this night as I'm not sure how else we would get there! LOL.

So that is our last full day at Disney World. If you look at the number of words I typed it doesn't sound like much but I have a feeling the day will be wonderful!!

The big bag is nice to be able to have a bunch of stuff with my but I have learned to travel light! iPhone, Camera, Autograph book, pen, advil (but even that you can get at the First Aid Center), trading pins...

In the big bag I was lugging around an extra pair of shoes for my husband but if he needs that this time I would rather just get a locker.

So jealous! I would love to do the Chef's Table someday!

I was honestly floored when they said it was available. I was all prepared for booking just the regular dining room! It's going to be fantastic!

Your trip is getting so close!! I bet you are both really excited.

Less than a Month!! 4 weeks from today we will be on a plane!!

I am so very excited! My hubby says he is excited because of my being there, the food and the wine! :rotfl2: I love that he is humoring me!!

Oh wow, V&A! Have you been there before?

Couldn't you take the monorail to MK and then boat back to WL?

Ooh I can't wait to hear about V&A! I want to go there so bad, maybe on our 5 year anniversary trip or something! :cool1:
