It's all a matter of perspective...

A few years ago we got evacuated off the TTA during one of the outside portions. Talk about cool! Guests were taking pictures.

I've been to Disney World 11 times, with many of those visits having 10 day park tickets. In all that time, I have never been evacuated off any ride!

i've been evacuated time to time, my daughter has started to carry the torch and been evacuated a few times in the last couple years.. I personally love it, still trying to get stuck on haunted mansion or space mountain so they have to turn the lights on while I'm in the ride..

I also never heard of free ice cream before but that's a nice touch instead of just getting a fastpass.

My first time at WDW we got stuck on Splash Mountain after the drop in the Zippidee-Doo-Da room. Eventually after about 10 minutes they (thankfully) turned the music off but we had to listen to some recorded spiel about Brer Fox and Brer Bear messed up the ride somehow. Then eventually turned that off too. About a half hour later they finally pulled us out of the boats, I took pictures, the CM's weren't too happy. But we got to walk out the back door. It's still one of our favorite Disney memories.

Have gone since 1972 in MK, and have 'never' been stuck or evacuated from a ride! Luck? I guess!!

Only once, left a line when the ride broke down!

I actually don't mind getting stuck on the rides except for when I get stuck on SSE in the backwards looking up at the sky scene. We got stuck on ToT once and they had to turn on the lights. So cool to see the scenes with the lights on, it was just when you come out of the first elevator before they push you forward to drop you. We sat there for awhile and they told us they got it fixed but the best thing to do was go ahead and drop us instead of walking us out. Added an extra fear factor to the drop. After that they told us we could skip the line and get right back on it if we wanted, which we did, my son and I were the only ones to do that everyone else was afraid. Space Mountain did break down once when we were there (well it breaks down every time) but we were still in line. Stood in line at the loading area for about 1/2 hour before they started escorting everyone out the back way instead of the way you leave when you get off the ride. I would love to get evacuated out of Haunted Mansion to get to see those scenes with the lights on.

I wish we had been evacuated. We were stuck on Figment for over 40 minutes, but in truth, not in 1 spot. It broke down 4 times on us. The first time, we had fun reading the eye chart with DGDs 3 & 5, then went on to Eye Spy. Then we came up with other amusements, like, what was your favorite thing you did today? The reason I wished we had been evacuated was the last time it was in the dark part, and DGD 3 is afraid of the dark. Over all, it was pleasant (blissfully, we were the only ones in the rooms) - the park was quite dead that night. There was another family on it that we knew about, but they were a couple of rooms back from us. Plus, it was both amusing and sad that the CM had to keep walking through, assuring us the ride would start "soon" or "any minute". I wanted to say, "It's ok, don't worry about it". Mostly, I want my free ice cream, darnit!

I agree with the thought that once in a while its more interesting to get evacuated. In all the years of going to WDW we were evacuated from Maelstrom the last time we rode it and the best was Space Mountain. The lights came on and we sat for a while on the lift. Then they announce on the PA system that we were releasing the cars to complete the ride. So we got to ride the entire Space Mountain with the lights on. Definitely a memorable trip.

If I never see any part of the parks/attractions backstage ever, it will be too soon.

Anyway, satisfy my curiosity: What does backstage at PotC look like?

It's a running joke in our family. We have gotten stuck on HM every year, each time it's been literally a second ahead from the last spot. The last time we were stuck on the hill going down backwards. My daughter makes bets with her dad on whether we will get to finish the ride every year. We have never gotten a FP for being stuck the longest was 30 mins.

I wouldn't mind being stuck on Pirate's. I'd think it was cool too.
But when I'm stuck on a ride where I'm strapped in???

My perspective would be  :scared:  :scared: .

Yes I've seen people evacuated off a roller coaster approaching the 200 ft drop. They had to have the fire department come out and take them down the stairs (which are grated that you can see through down a LONG distance). Everyone was safe at the end of the day, but that would not be FUN and would be memorable only in a bad way. I would definitely pick pirates over that.

My cousin got stuck on figment on a recent trip and had to be evacuated. We joked that it was good they weren't in the smell room, but feel bad that someone probably was stuck back there!

We were evacuated off of the People Mover... it was so cool because we got to walk along the track above Tomorrowland. They gave us free FP's and we had a blast!

My kids, who have been on nearly every WDW ride a million times and been on multiple Disney Cruises, recall as one of their happiest Disney memories the time we were riding TTA (separate vehicles, we were right behind them) and a sudden, wicked thunderstorm caused the ride to be stopped while we were suspended over Tomorrowland just heading into Space Mountain. The rain was coming down in sheets but somehow the roof managed to keep us all reasonably dry. There was lightning and thunder and torrential rain and wind. The kids, who were in their teens, were howling with delight at the vicious weather and count this as one of their best Disney memories.

2 years ago , my husband and I got evacuated off TSM, just as we got to the 2nd set of screens. The lights came on and it was announced that a CM would come around to let us out of the ride vehicle. We could not get out as they can only be accessed by a CM on the outside of the vehicle. So, they had to do it manually one at a time. It took them quite a while to get to us (at least it seemed that way). We followed a long line of riders through the ride and out. We got an anytime fast pass. Though I wouldn't want to repeat it (would rather ride it) it was an interesting experience.

Frankly, nothing special at all. We were walking on a sidewalk adjacent to an access road (one lane each way). The back of the buildings are very non-descripted and just painted...I don't even remember what color it was, though aqua green comes to mind. Across the road, we could see a sign that said something like "Disney Arts" and it looked like that may be where they build props and such, as I do remember seeing some building materials and almost out of view I could see a wire frame...perhaps something that would be in the Electrical Parade though I could only catch a quick glimpse. Really, it was just a 5 minute walk behind some big buildings, almost like walking in the back of a strip mall.

Thanks for the description! That's actually what I figured it would be - non-descript and industrial.

My boys had to be evacuated off space mountain one time. The CM's turned the lights on and walked them all down the metal stairs to get off the ride. They talked about it for days - highlight of the trip :)
My son is 28 and that's his hope that one day he'll be stuck at Space Mountain! LOL!
