Let me just say I was a fan of the clown so I might be a little skewed in my view because of that. I will also say that I like the Boardwalk and quirkiness aspects in general that are within the resort.

I saw the updated pool in person recently and I have to say it is a disappointment.

The updated visuals around the slide while interesting by themselves are fairly "cheap". In addition I do not feel that it matches the theming of the pool area, Leaping Libations (pool bar) or the resort in general.

For those who have not been to this pool area behind me you will also find a completely devoid of theming kids shallow pool and a playground similar to what you find at a small park.

I guess the flip side is that it saves $0.01 or $0.02 a point by not going for a more upscale option on the theming.

I haven't seen it in person, but the clown gave me the creeps. I see what you mean - the new design is about as minimal an option as they could have created, but I have to say it: Anything is better than the clown! :beach:

It looks good. The dark red goes well with the roof of Leaping Libations. No more complaints about the clown!

The clown never bothered me but I think they made the shape of bridge from far away look like a circus tent which I think fits nicely into the theme. I don’t mind the change it’s definitely not an imagineering stroke of brilliance but it’s ok.

Whenever I saw the clown, I was relaxing by a beautiful pool sipping a MaiTai and chatting with my DH..the clown only symbolized happiness for me!!!

I liked the clown and am sorry that it is gone. Don't understand why it had to go. It's not like there was a problem filling the resort. If it was a problem for the hotel (BWI), I hope they helped pay for the change!

Another lover of the clown here. ut I also liked the first of the new two IT films (the second was a mess), so maybe I'm not the right one to judge.
However, it's impossible to deny that the old clown, creepy or not, was 100% in theme with the rest of the pool. It all had a great vibe, thematically perfect. I like(d) the BWV pool more than Stormalong Bay.
Now? A cheap panel with a sticker with characters in a style first seen in the current millenium. If only they at least used Steamboat Willie.
I have yet to see it in person, but from the pics I think the pool lost a lot of its character.

I wasn't bothered by the clown, I find it surprising that so many adults found it disturbing. IMO it wasn't scary enough during F&W or it would be easier to get a studio at 11 months. The new photo boards leave me cold, very disappointing.

so at first I did not like the clown, but just for a moment, because my kids declared they loved the clown lol. They are normally scared of everything. Like my 11 year old is still scared to walk upstairs by himself if no one else is up there. So the clown grew on me. And really, it was quite delightful in how unique and well themed it was. It is sad they replaced it with meh. Really it looks like cheap non themed construction scrim. They might as well have an “inspirational“ WD quote on it as well. We were there over New Years and the kids couldn’t believe the clown was gone. One lamented that Disney is just changing everything!

I’ve never stayed there because I thought the clown was frightening. Seriously.
