"it's a small world" Refurb

Did they increase the depth of the canal/add buoyancy to the boats during the last rehab? Wasn't that a design problem that needed to be fixed?

Last night I asked the kids very somberly, guess what ride is going to be closed when we go?, They named a few and when I said "No, They are going to close It's a Small World while we are there", they both cheered and High fived each other :rotfl:

Well, I guess I'll be heading to MK on 7/31 then. Wasn't planning on heading there until the next day, but want to get that one last trip through IASW. Then I'll be able to properly compare when I go back in Dec!

Ugh, I am so bummed as will be ydd. She went on this ride like 7 times last year. It was a good way to get out of the heat.

This teamed with the rumor that TSM will be closed when we are there too is a big bummer!!!!!

When I was little I made my older sister take me on this ride 5 times in a row. It's all I heard about growing up. Our last trip I really wanted to take the kids, but for some reason we were pulled in different directions with ADRs that we never made it. When I came home the first question my sister had was "how did the kids like It's a small World". She didn't believe me that I never took them on the ride. Thankfully I will be there before the refurb.

That is SO funny!:)

iasw seems to be a "polarizing attraction"!LOL:)

That just put a splinter on my trip. Oh well, I'll have to find something else!

Everyone knows that the bad little children that get dumped there, start growing up, so they need to let some go back home and replace them with younger ones. They also have to feed and clean them at some point . And if you leave the nails in their feet too long, they could become infected :dance3:

This is really bad news for our family! Our DS is autistic and LOVES LOVES LOVES this ride. He listens to the music on his iPod all the time. Last year he started this new thing on clapping everytime we went under the bridge, it was very sweet. He loves this ride like no one else, his heart rate literally increases and his pupils dialte as soon as we get in line.
If it weren't for free food I might have to considering changing our plans...I might anyway:confused3 Star Tours will be closed then too...another favorite of his

I am so sad about this! As much as it borders on creepy, Small World is a must-do for me. My son, on the other hand told everyone that it was the scariest ride at Disney after we returned in 2008 :)

I heard about Star Tours too
Here's hoping they'll still have the Jedi Training.

As much as the song can get annoying, especially after hearing it a dozen times in 12 minutes; my DD's love the ride and my wife and I do enjoy the relaxing part of the ride. Just being able to sit and relax for 10 plus minutes always recharges us.

It's so sweet how much your son loves this ride! :) Maybe you can keep an eye out to see if Disney extends free dining?

Reports are now that the refurb may just be for improvements to the load/unload area.:)

LOL!! Reminds me of the "Family Guy" episode where Stewie was placed in IASW as one of the kids...hilarious!

Oh no! :( We are going Sept 27th-Oct 6th and the kids will be so sad. Ds 6yo said when we came out of the ride last month, "Mama, wasn't that so fun! I really like that one!". Bummer!

We are going the same dates! (But staying until the 9th.)

I know it's not the same thing, but the boat ride in Mexico gives you a little taste of the dolls-singing-thing (for lack of a better word)!

I totally agree with your son.

So I am wondering if we will be the first family ever to reschedule a trip because IASW will be closed:lmao:

Hoping to find out in the next few days if DH can get the week before Thanksgiving off from work so we can go then instead. The more I think about it, it would be just cruel to take my DS there and have that be closed. I do have the 20/30/40 pin that we can use, plus it's looking promising that FD will be extended as it was last year.

Room rates are higher that week but it would be nice to see the Christmas decorations and go to MVMCP, we havent done that for about 5 years.

Now a whole new waiting game for us after spening weeks waiting to hear about FD! Oh well....
