Can't find a straight answer to this one:

Where does the Dis get the General Public codes from? Or Mousesavers for that matter? Do they have some kind of privileged access to Disney information that the "general public" does not? Just curious if anyone knows. You have to mention a special code when booking in order to get a discount, but how many outlets are there to acquire these special codes? Anyone know? Thanks!

I've wondered this too. I have always thought that there must be some leak to travel agents as to when these things will be released. I also wonder if it isn't just someone's job to call CRO every day and check in for new discounts...

I don't think they're "leaked" to travel agencies; I think they're "released" to travel agents, who may or may not tell their clients what the codes are. While you have to ask for the codes, they're not secrets; if Disney didn't want people other than TAs to use them, or wanted to keep them secret, they wouldn't have "public codes." They'd just use PIN codes or codes that have specific restrictons.

The travel agencies have them in advance. That is a fact. Especially well known ones like Dreams Unlimited and Small World Vacations. They start prepping all their clients reservations ahead of time so they can call first thing the morning the code comes out. As you've probably noticed, there are several DU agents who moderate these boards here at the DIS. So the info they get is definitely reliable and real.
