It's a-LIVE, a-LiVE...Trip Report, That Is

I last left off with my husband and I making a mad dash for Crystal Palace through the pouring rain. Luckily, the ponchos managed to keep us semi-dry, and we even made it to Crystal Palace about 25 minutes early. They still managed to seat us within 15 minutes. :woohoo:

I love the little display they have just inside the door:

When we got to the table, we had a cute surprise waiting for us, for our anniversary. (I think I must have noted a celebration on my reservation.)

Since the characters were right near our table, we decided to wait and get pictures with them before heading to the buffet. It was so cute--a couple of them pointed to the heart decoration on the table and then made little hearts with their hands too (or should I say paws?) We managed to see Pooh, Eeyore, and Tigger all within ten minutes or so of each other. Piglet came by well after we had gotten our food, but I'm just going to put him here with the others anyway!

They had so many items on the buffet, I couldn't even name them all! Here are our first plates...we did go back for a little bit more, but I didn't take a picture that time.

We also tried some dessert items. I forgot to grab a picture of my hubby's dessert, but here's what I tried:

I ate one of the cookies and a few bites of the cobbler, but I was too full to finish the rest. (Eyes>stomach!)

That does it for our dinner at the Crystal Palace! Please let me know if you have any specific questions about the menu!

Still to come:
Our evening at Magic Kingdom

After dinner, it was time for some more rides! You might recall earlier we got rained out of using our Splash Mountain fastpasses during our designated time. Since they are once again strictly enforcing FP return times, this would normally mean no Splash Mountain for us. However, I had read that if the ride is closed for whatever reason during your return window--which Splash Mountain was for ours, due to the thunder and lightening--that they will still honor the FP outside the original window. Therefore, we decided to head over to Splash Mountain after dinner to see if we could still use our fastpasses.

Thankfully, they made an exception due to the storm shutting down the ride earlier, and we still were able to use our FP! I was very happy; Splash is my favorite ride.

After Splash, we checked out the wait for BTMRR. The board said twenty minutes, but it looked MUCH longer than that. We decided to head back to the Haunted Mansion again for another ride. (If you can't tell, that's another one of our favorites.)

Next, we headed over to Fantasyland, where we rode It's a Small World, saw Mickey's PhilharMagic, and rode the Winnie the Pooh ride.

We also caught glimpses of the new construction, but it was really too dark to get any good pictures.

While we were in line for Winnie the Pooh, we decided we would catch the parade and Wishes later in the week, so we headed over for one last ride before heading out to the buses:

My hubby couldn't believe his eyes when he saw this:

Looks like someone needs some lessons from me!

After Buzz, we headed back to the buses. On the way, we actually got to see the tail end of the parade. (I didn't have my phone handy to take any pictures.) I did take one final picture on the way out, though:

Amazingly, there was a bus already there when we got to the Pop queue, so we were back to the resort in no time. We took a little late night swim in the 50s pool--which was still pretty hopping even though it was 10:30. And now, it is time to get some rest!!!!!

Tomorrow:

Epcot: lunch at Teppan Edo and dinner at Chefs de France

If I didn't get a chance to reply to certain questions yet, I will do so in the morning while waiting for the Epcot bus!

Question ?..
Does your room have a refrigerator? I thought I read that all the rooms at PoP now have them. Just wondered. Thanks for your wonderful updates and pictures! Great job:)

Yes it does! It's one of those little cube fridges, but it's great for keeping waters/sodas cold. I even have an ice pack I put in there that got pretty darn chilly, even though I don't think it technically has a separate freezer section.

"Popped" over here from the POP thread, too (:rotfl: sorry, I blame the cheesy humor on being tired)! LOVE your report so far. I always think how it would be great to do a live review but I never have the discipline to actually do it! Thanks for sharing; reading what your doing as you go is the next best thing to being there! :goodvibes

Great. Thanks for your quick response .... You've got be exhausted, or are you running on "Mickey" energy!?!

A live report!!!How exciting :) Looks like you've got nice weather today. Looking forward to read about your MK exploits of the night. -Amanda

Other than the storm, weather was pretty good. And even the storm had its benefits--it cooled down a lot afterwards.

I'm reading! :thumbsup2
Leaving on Wednesday for my trip, and my first day in Disney will be on Friday (Two days at Universal) Reading live trip reports is making me so happy!
I'm expecting the rain that you posted about....August trips
How have the crowds been?

Crowds have not been too bad. It's a little busier than when we have gone at the very end of August, but not much. Everything we went on today had a wait of 20 minutes or less. If it had too long of a wait, we just decided to hit it next time. We grabbed a Fastpass for Splash today which cut the wait from 45 to 5. So it is definitely manageable!

Loving your trip report so far - and the fact that it is a live trip report makes it even better! :thumbsup2 Looking forward to hearing about where you dine, the rides and your resort. We are headed to WDW in a couple weeks so this is getting me pumped (other than the rain but I guess that has to be expected in August).

Hope you have a great trip too! Most August storms we have seen in the past blew over in 10-20 minutes. I think maybe this longer storm was just an anomaly.

Thanks! It does require a bit of discipline, but I think if I did one when I got back, I would never finish it. I'm a huge procrastinator.

I am exhausted! I am having trouble sleeping though, not sure why...here's hoping I fall asleep soon!

Hi,
great report and pics. Have a magical rest of your time there. Also I am looking forward to reading more.

Great report & pictures. Glad the rain didn't ruin your day.

can't wait to read more.

Have a magical day!

We usually like to get to the parks 15-30 minutes before rope drop, but I didn't fall asleep until late last night and was kind of dragging this morning. We managed to get to the bus stop by 8:35 and to Epcot by 9. Between walking from the bus stop and bag check, we probably got into the actual park by 9:10 or 9:15. Since my husband walks more quickly than me, he went ahead to get Soarin' fastpasses, and I grabbed a couple of scenery shots.

We hadn't eaten yet, so we each grabbed a breakfast platter at the Sunshine Seasons food court. I didn't care for the eggs, but ate some of each of the other items.

Our FP for Soarin' aren't due until 10:55, but after we finished breakfast, the standby line was only a half hour. Since the wait wasn't too bad, we decided to ride it standby. We actually got to go on the Concourse 1 side this time; we have only ever been on Concourse 2 before.

Now, we are going to check out Living with the Land and maybe Circle of Life before redeeming our fastpasses for a second ride on Soarin'

More updates around lunch time!
