It's a Jolly Holiday with LL. *FINISHED* Final Update on pg. 58.

Hi, LL! How was your week? I read your updates, but I did not read all the fun conversations that you all had while I was gone! How was the spa?

I don't want to give away too much since I am going to put it all in the TR, but we switched our CP dinner ressie to a Kona Cafe ressie, and it was delicious there! Definitely a good choice!

HI CP!!! We missed you!!!! :goodvibes

I missed you guys, too! I may have to buy a laptop just so that I can stay in touch with everyone when we are at WDW! :lmao:

Is the WOH behaving herself? Are you getting excited about the wedding?

I haven't talked to her since Spa Day. :rotfl: I think I am going to keep it that way. She did leave me two messages on myspace but honestly, bleck. I am not wanting to deal with the drama.

I am getting excited. 13 Days! Yikes! I finished up a lot of Wedding stuff this week, and my stress level isn't too bad either. :goodvibes

Yeay for a low stress level and less then two weeks until the wedding! Are you leaving for the cruise right after the wedding?

I have more in common with my MIL than I thought. Shocking, I know. Last night while we were having dinner, DF found an old park hopper ticket from their trip that still has one day left on it!! :yay: I had never seen this variety, with the guests picture on it. MIL even had the receipt from the purchase of their 5 day park hopper tickets from the Disney Store. $176.50 for each ticket. They even went to the Disney Store in New Hampshire so they wouldn't have to pay MA State Sales Tax. ::yes:: I have never felt so proud!
IMG_0401.jpg

I couldn't believe it, I think if I recall correctly I danced a jig when they showed it to me. DF convinced his Mom to go look for the rest of the stuff they saved from their trip. Let me tell you, it was like finding the Holy Grail. While they were looking in the basement, my BIL, was teasing me about how excited I was, so I was explaining The DIS and how I want to start going to WDW once a year. He thought I was completely ridiculous, but I didn't care, I was taking pictures of the Park Hopper.
She found the other tickets except for DF's. She thinks she let him keep it and now it is gone forever.

MIL had Birnbaums's Guide for Kids and she thinks the Unofficial Guide or something along those lines but she could not find the other book. Now, I have heard stories about the Legend of the Disney Trip Schedule and I finally got to see it with my own eyes.

I have never felt closer to MIL. :lovestruc
They went in August 1995. Their group was 10 strong. MIL, FIL, DF and BIL. Then DF's Aunt, Uncle, Three Cousins and One of the cousin's friends. 6 kids, 4 adults. DF was 14 at the time and his cousin, S who is also a bridesmaid was 15, they were the oldest. BIL was the youngest at age 9. They planned this trip more than a year out. They drove down with their campers, one for each family and stopped at various campsites along the way. Obviously they stayed at Ft. Wilderness. MIL still has her receipts for the campground!

FIL was not happy with the mapped out schedule, it was vacation after all. MIL wrote at the top, "Everything is subject to change." In fact, in the pen markings, you can see what they changed and tweaked. FIL has an extra day left because he declared mutiny one day since it was so hot and stayed back at the campsite. MIL says when they got back that day, he was sitting in a lawn chair, had hooked up the hose so it was above him, used an elastic on the nozzle to make it mist on him. Sadly, she doesn't have a picture of that. :rotfl:
The first thing any of them mention about this trip is the heat. Poor DF, in every picture they have you can see his shirt just soaked right through. Last night he told me this was before he developed the "doubling up technique." Yep, my DF wears two shirts everyday. Undershirt and a regular shirt to help with the sweatage. ::yes::
On the schedule you can see they took off a Magic Kingdom Day and went to Blizzard Beach. In fact they went to all three water parks. River Country, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. MIL says her favorite was Blizzard Beach, hands down. They also went to Discovery Island. I tried taking pictures of their pictures, but they were too dark and didn't work out. So I have other fun stuff.
IMG_0410.jpg

IMG_0411.jpg

Sadly, no map for River Country.
But they did get Discovery Island!
IMG_0413.jpg

IMG_0414.jpg

BIL got picked at Discovery Island to help with an extremely large snake at the Reptile Relations show. One of the cousin's apparently got peed on by one of the monkeys.
On to the parks. DF remembers very little of this vacation, although I think some memories were stimulated last night after looking at the trip things.

Do you see the pen marks on the Magic Kingdom and MGM maps? Oh my goodness, MIL even had the attractions numbered in the order they would visit. Seriously, it was like meeting a long lost kindred spirit. :cloud9:

More of DF's 1995 Trip in the next post!

So while I was being a crazy Disney fanatic, taking pictures of their mementos, MIL and I were chatting about Disney. About how happy the trip made her because she never thought she would be able to take her kids because of money, she said their grand total for the two weeks including EVERYTHING (campsites, gas, food, etc.) was $2,000 for her family of four. I started explaining our trip to her, the magic your way tickets, the dining plan and free dining promotion, where we are staying. When I said Wilderness Lodge for three nights, her face lit up. It turns out that the four Adults left the kids back at the campsite for a night out. Where did they go? ARTIST POINT! I think MIL was excited that DF and I will be eating there as well. She said she thought it was pretty brand new when they went and that they all had the salmon and it was really good. She had a few pictures of Wilderness Lodge and said it was just beautiful and that it was a good choice. When I told her the grand total of our trip (more than was she paid, but that is a separate post that is brewing in my brain), I felt bad and grateful at the same time. I felt bad because she had to work so hard and plan so much to get her family there and grateful that DF and I are able to do this. Granted, if it wasn't for the Wedding Gifts we wouldn't have been able to do both trips this year. Again, more on this in a future post.
Overall the night turned out to be a great bonding moment with MIL and I. I used to not be able to envision ever going to WDW with her and our family in the future, but now I think I would like too (I reserve the right to change my mind at any moment.) I think I am a lot more like MIL in some regards than I thought, we definitely approach a WDW vacation the same way! I would love to bring my mom and MIL and our family down someday. I think both Dads would rather go somewhere else. We'll just leave them home, or let them rent a car and go to other Dad Friendly placed in Florida. :rotfl:
Okay, back to the trip!
Like I said, the Adults went to Artist Point towards the end of their trip. MIL said she would never leave kids in this day and age but at the time, they felt the kids knew the lay of the land by the end and were comfortable with it.
They also went to Biergarten. This is one thing I knew, DF remembers this fondly.
IMG_0443.jpg

IMG_0444.jpg

The Hoop Dee Do Revue. DF loved this, so did the rest of the family. They have pics of FIL and BIL playing the washboards. I guess "Clare De Lune" I think that is her name, flirted with FIL when he asked her to laugh and she said, "Well you have to say something funny." FIL went..."uuuhhhh," and then she laughed. Their whole family imitates the laugh, it's actually pretty cute.
IMG_0442.jpg

Note Clare De Lune's autograph in the upper right hand corner.

They also went to Planet Hollywood and Sci Fi Dine In Theater. And the Fireworks Factory...is this at Universal? They couldn't remember.
IMG_0445.jpg

Last night was great, it really was. I was happy to be able to bond with MIL. I think that in the future when DF and I have our own family, there will be a trip with MIL and FIL to WDW at some point. With our own rooms of course. ;) Though, DF really wants us all to stay at one of the Ft. Wilderness Cabins, maybe I can psych myself up for that in say about.....12 years. :rotfl:

Finally...I leave you with this.
IMG_0433.jpg

Why? I remember this bag on my trip...in 1995. Isn't it adorable that DF and I both went in 1995!?! Seeing all these trip mementos has made me nostalgic so I plan to write about LL's Trips of the Past, though I don't have pictures, just vivid memories!

YOU BONDED!

WITH YOUR MIL!

OVER DISNEY!!!!!

:::sigh::::

I'm jealous.:rotfl2:

I know, Right?!?! I am still in shock. :faint:

I'm so happy for you.::yes::

You may discover you have more alike than you possibly thought. I know it sounds eww, gross to some, but men tend to like women who are like their mothers...much in the same way that we like men who are like our fathers. It's just what you're used to as a role model, I guess. Or some other pyschological mumbo jumbo. In some ways, it couldn't be more true. My DH and my dad are so similar it can be scary!:scared1:

All those pics brought back some serious memories for me. I remember those tickets and those bags. Wow. I hope you do write about your memories in a post, that would be great.

I'm off to run my errands, but thanks for giving a fun boost to my day.

Love,
TK

It is scary, DF is like my dad in many ways but very different in others. I have always known MIL and I are two strong willed women but now we also share the love of planning for Disney. :rotfl:

I hope you have a great day!! I will be posting about my trips. I have nothing to do today except laundry so I may start today!:goodvibes

We see the Cruise to Bermuda as our relaxing, nothing planned, sit by the pool, drinks lots of rum swizzles vacation. While Disney will be planned, agenda filled and lots to see, do and eat vacation.

Both sound fun.

Friday September 5th
1900 Park Fare @ 9:55PM.
I can't wait to eat with Mary Poppins!

One of my favorite meals during our trip.

Offense #2 I am wearing a pair of my grandmother's vintage earrings on the wedding day. She died when I was 13 and it was important to me to have a piece of her with me. They are pink rhinestones, a little large but so my grandmother and me. MIL exclaimed, "Those are gaudy" after I showed them to her. Let me just say people I had told her they were my grandmother's. I am still upset about this and have a hard time letting go, since as I was telling her the story of how I remembered my grandmother showing me these earrings as a little girl in her jewelry box I was teary eyed and telling her just how much it meant for me to wear them.

Awww that was rude of her!

Offense #4 I am constantly hearing how we will regret not having a large wedding, and WHY can't we have dancing!?! Ugh.

No you won't!

Sword in the Stone --- Every Saturday morning as a child (well almost) my brother and I would get up early and pop in Sword in the Stone.

You know it's being re-released soon right?

Kali River Rapids --- I have done this before and again, I don't like to get wet. It musses my hair and makes me crabby. Again, DF wants to go on it. I think I will just try to avoid walking by it.

Bring a dollar store poncho, throw it away after, you'll be fine!

MIL says when they got back that day, he was sitting in a lawn chair, had hooked up the hose so it was above him, used an elastic on the nozzle to make it mist on him. Sadly, she doesn't have a picture of that.

LOL!:lmao:

AAAWWW I think this is one of the best updates ever!:goodvibes

Ok I'm all caught up now!

WOW! That was fast. I am still reading yours, though I decided to sign up for TourGuide Mike while reading, which I think will prove to wreak havoc on my carefully laid plans. :rotfl:

It may, but TGM is totally worth it. We went during one of the busiest time of year and managed to avoid crowds and lines by following TGM's best days.:thumbsup2

So cool...it was like a mini Disney vacation right there at dinner at the inlaws. That ticket with the day left is still good to use. And I believe Fireworks Factory was at Pleasure Island.
