It's a Jolly Holiday with LL. *FINISHED* Final Update on pg. 58.

Day 5. Part 2. Continued.

The fireworks started and we could barely see them. They were right over our head in the building. Boo Hiss Snarl. I did manage to get pictures but I felt as though we were missing half the show. Maybe we weren't. They were beautiful but I was too preoccupied with getting pictures to fully enjoy them. I ended up giving up on gorillapod for some of the shots and then going back to it.

This one is hanging up too. I think this is my favorite Wishes photo.

I was worried the Boat would have a ginormous wait. The line was almost off the boat landing but the boat pulled up and fit all of us in. Those boats hold A LOT of people.

After we got back to the room, we decided to continue our Pop ritual of a nightly swim. What a world of difference the Wilderness Lodge pool is. So relaxing, so beautiful. Swimming at night was as just gorgeous. Marc even went into the hot tub for a bit. I tried it out with him but I have never been a big fan of hot tubs, they make me feel like my insides are boiling. Not pleasant so I headed to the pool pretty quickly.

My favorite part about the pool was resting my arms on the ledge where Silver Springs "feeds" into the pool. It's beautifully lit up, I rested my arms there, put my chin on my arms and just looked up at the Wilderness Lodge. Just gorgeous. It was so relaxing, calm and peaceful. I felt like I was a million miles away from Disney, I could just completely let go of the itinerary, the plans and our ADR's and just enjoy myself.

I swam there, musing about how just 3 short years ago I was devastated by Ex, one day before my Birthday, 6 short weeks after we had been married that he had been cheating on me for quite some time and wanted a divorce. I was horrified, humiliated and embarrassed. I thought of how I got through those horrible months and with the help of my parents pulled myself out of the despair. I was reflecting on how lucky I was to have found Marc, how he truly treats me like a princess every single day. I had gotten a true life fairy tale happily ever after ending. :lovestruc So right there at that moment while gazing up at the Wilderness Lodge and feeling the warm Florida air and the Disney Magic surrounding me, I had happy happy tears streaming down my face.

Shortly Marc came over and joined me. We both sat with our arms resting, gazing up at the splendor of the Lodge, musing how completely quiet the pool area was compared to POP, recapping our day and enjoying our time together. These are the moments I think about most when I think about the WL. Being able to spend time with Marc, relaxed and not having to worry about anything. We were able to just "be" and enjoy ourselves. I wish more than anything that I could be back in those moments. Just thinking about them has me teary eyed and thinking that next year's trip is worth it no matter what sacrifices we have to make to get there. Marc and I work hard during the year and we may not always be the smartest with money but moments like the ones we had at Wilderness Lodge and Disney are absolutely priceless.

This picture, just doesn't do the night scenery justice.

We swam against the stream for a bit. That current is quite strong and it moves if you stop swimming at all. We had fun goofing around. Soon, we headed back to our room for a night's sleep. We had big plans for the next day! ;)

Coming up...
Stalking Incident.
A hissy fit that spans two countries.
A trippy voyage with some freakadalic trolls.

You are quick! Another update! I love it!!!!!! :goodvibes

Your shirt made total sense...I don't understand why people kept asking you what your wish was? And uh, hello? What else would it be?!?! :confused3 Your dinner at the Castle sounds just fantastic! Bleh to those making fun of you taking pictures! Bleh, bleh! We are very gracious. :flower3:

Sorry about getting a not so great spot for Wishes. :guilty: Your pictures still turned out great though!

The pool time with your thoughts sounds very warm, fuzzy and theraputic. It makes me want to be at that exact same location in the pool, letting the current of the stream take away my worries, stress and anxieties...ahhhh...just beautiful.

My favorite update so far----LOVE those WL photos!!! They were my "You had me at Hello" resort moment!! No wavering for me---no ma'am! Can't WAIT to stay there!!! I will be having WL dreams until then!!!

Love it so far! Can't wait to hear more!

(I was really hoping you'd chose the Kona. We are going there, and I was anxious to hear what you thought! Glad you enjoyed it!)

Kristin

PS: beautiful photos, too!
Kona was really really good. Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

Aw, honey! Once again you take a picture of something I didn't! I LOVED seeing that prop. I literally stared at it for at least fifteen minutes, no joke. And kept coming back to it. It was massive, and the detail. Oh my goodness, I loved it. But I knew my camera wouldn't take a good shot, so I let it pass.
I have a blurry one too that I took without my flash but I like this one much better. That's why I love digital cameras because I can see if I like the picture and have a chance to retake it so I don't miss it.

Honey, those were some GREAT updates! And I love your photos of the Wilderness Lodge. Is it wrong that they make me feel homesick? Truly, I got this pang in my gut when those photos loaded. It is so peaceful there, and so relaxing. I just love it. So far, it seems like you and Marc did too. :thumbsup2
I am feeling the same way this week. I just want to go "home". It's so peaceful.

It's so cold and windy outside tonight, but all is well with me, because I have an LL update!!!

Okay, I have to break up my comments so I don't forget them all!

Don't despair -- I am a rule follower at Disney! I can't stand to get in trouble there even if Charles makes fun of me every single time!

Woo hoo for Dream Squad JuJu! That is soooo awesome and on your birthday, too! I was cracking up over your random pics afterwards because you were so frazzled!

I love that they had Susan Sarandon's Enchanted costume -- that's what I want to be for Halloween!
I was so excited my Dream Squad JuJu worked. I was on cloud nine!

I love the costumes they had. I wish we had spent more time in there, but we wanted to get over to Toy Story Mania.

great mega update

Congrats on the Win :thumbsup2

I somewhat find it funny that you were punished at DHS :rotfl: (sorry, that's probably mean of me) For future reference, don't try it at Epcot either. There is only one character breakfast and it's literally roped off from the front all the way to Norway.

Gorgeous pics by the way!!!
It is funny but at the time I was so ashamed. :lmao: I am done with fake ADR's!

Okay, I am done reading now! I am kind of sad that you are finished with DHS :(.

Okay, tonight Wilderness Lodge is my favorite resort. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful photos!

I need to go eat one of the Magic Cookie bars that I made this weekend now.

:scared1: about the boy peeing in the buses -- that is not deluxe behavior.
It really isn't deluxe behavior. I wouldn't have been so shocked if it was a younger child, you know because sometimes you just don't get those warnings but this kid was much older than that.

FANTASTIC updates!! Love the pictures, of course! :lovestruc

I am so wishing now that we got to do One Man's Dream.... Rats.

I also loved taking a boat anytime we had the chance. The buses got worse for us as our trip progressed. You can read about that sometime if I ever get around to finishing MY trip report...:rolleyes1

.
I love One Man's Dream. I am a major History buff so anything that remotely resembles a historic lesson makes me giddy.

Great update Lallie! Awesome pix of WL! Marc is a GREAT photographer! Does he know that? Symmetry, composition... everything! Great!:thumbsup2
I will let him know what you said. He will be very happy. Before he met me, he never owned a camera!

I am loving all your WL photos!!!!!! :dance3: So beautiful. We were there for dinner once, but there is SO much more to the resort than what I ever knew even when we booked it. I love the grounds and the architecture of the building, the trees, EVERYTHING!!! 16 days, 16 days for me! Well, 17 until we check in at WL.
You will have a wonderful time!

The Backlot Tour looks like a fun and interesting ride...I plan to ride it this trip since we didn't make it to that one in 2006.
I think it's worth it. It's a longer ride but I like seeing that kind of stuff.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAA about winning a dream on your birthday!!!!!! I laughed out loud at Marc's expression with the lanyard, completely baffled by your excitement and his prize. :rotfl:
It was quite exciting. He was completely baffled. He had to ask me what they were. Then he was quizzing me all about the Dream Squad.

Wonderful update, LL! And congrats on the Dream Squad win! Woohoo!
Thank you!!

You should have done it! Last year my bff and me agreed to do it and had a blast. My friend had no idea what was coming. :) I was feeling a bit evil, but hey she was game. We got to play the captain and the deck hand roles. We wanted to get my brother to do it this past trip (figuring the girls would love to see their dad acting like a goof), but we ran out of time and the backlot tour was ditched in favor of the Indiana Jones show.
I wish I had done it. I wish Marc had done it. I wish ONE of us had.

The pics of WL are wonderful. I'm mentally deceiding if I can ditch POP next year all together and do all WL. Sadly the answer is no, but I'm thinking I have to make it a 2 day POP/4 day WL at any rate.
I think that if there is anyway you could ditch Pop all together, you won't regret it.

Congrats on the dream squad win! So exciting especially for your birthday.
It really was!

I've just read every installment of your TR.....I can't wait to read more! :goodvibes
Thanks for reading and joining in! :goodvibes

You updating fool, you! You...you...poster girl!

Well, not like, a poster girl.

But. Like a Poster. Girl.

Argh.

You get it.
I now have Avril Lavigne's,
"He was a skater boy
She said see you later boy
He wasn't good enough for her
She had a pretty face
But her head was up in space
She needed to come back down to earth"

Thanks for that. :lmao:

You are quick! Another update! I love it!!!!!! :goodvibes
I had a lot of down time at work this week since I was covering receptionist and was able to write these updates and then just add the pictures. Our next day is going to take me a bazillion posts because I took A LOT of photos.

:flower3:
I didn't care. I went back & forth if they were making fun of me, each other or just food photo taking people in general.

Sorry about getting a not so great spot for Wishes. :guilty: Your pictures still turned out great though!
Our spot was worth it though. It was nice to be out of the way, spend time with Marc and chat with that couple.

The pool time with your thoughts sounds very warm, fuzzy and theraputic. It makes me want to be at that exact same location in the pool, letting the current of the stream take away my worries, stress and anxieties...ahhhh...just beautiful.
It really was. That night was just a lovely time.

My favorite update so far----LOVE those WL photos!!! They were my "You had me at Hello" resort moment!! No wavering for me---no ma'am! Can't WAIT to stay there!!! I will be having WL dreams until then!!!

WOO HOO! GO TEAM WILDERNESS LODGE! ;)

Awww...you made me cry along with you when you described your time in the pool reflecting on your past and present.

I am so happy that everything worked out for you and that you did get your fairy tale.

What a wonderful birthday!

I have one complaint though...you're making me regret choosing Pop for our trip! ;)

Oh, I love those Halloween borders on the photopass pictures!

Argh! I have so much to say and so many questions I'm not going to remember everything!

First, about the gorilla-pod. Are there different sizes? If so, do you think a bigger one would have solved all of your problems? Or did you just not like it in general?

How far can one get in the castle without an ADR? Can you see the mice? What about the mosaics, are they all in "public" areas? Do those have an official name? Because I'm quickly becoming obsessed with them!

I think I've figured out why I'm the only one on the planet that doesn't want to stay at WL...because it looks a lot like where I live! The landscaping just doesn't feel special and different, you know? And the building exterior (and the interior, to a certain extent) looks just like a resort that I've gone to several times. I think I just want to be "wowed" more. It is beautiful, though, and I can see why people like it.

Your pictures are unbelieveably beautiful. You really do have a gift for photography! I'm going to go back through your TR before we go and write down MANY ideas for shots I want to take, although yours will probably still be better!

That's what I can remember for now. I'm glad you had a wonderful birthday! Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your fabulous TR!

I am here. I am off to read now.
Woo Hoo!! Welcome!

Aww, I am sorry I made you cry. I cried as I was writing for the update. Marc thought I was going crazy. ;)

Pop was nice, don't get me wrong. I think we feel like when we have kids we will be spending plenty of time at Value, you know? :lmao:

Oh, I love those Halloween borders on the photopass pictures!
Aren't they great? I really loved them.

Argh! I have so much to say and so many questions I'm not going to remember everything!

First, about the gorilla-pod. Are there different sizes? If so, do you think a bigger one would have solved all of your problems? Or did you just not like it in general?
My complaint with the gorillapod was that the ones that are made for heavier cameras seem to have shorter legs which gives you less flexibility in getting it wrapped around things. I hope that makes sense. For our next trip I am going to get a Tripod that folds up small. If you want something gorillapod like, I think I would go with a very small tripod, almost like a counter top one that you could prop on a flat surface to take photos. Does that help?

How far can one get in the castle without an ADR? Can you see the mice? What about the mosaics, are they all in "public" areas? Do those have an official name? Because I'm quickly becoming obsessed with them!
You can not see the mice at all without an ADR. The mosaics are in a public area, they are along the walls of the path through the Castle that goes into Fantasyland. Aren't they beautiful? They were fantastic to look it.

I was worried that WL wouldn't be enough for me either seeing that I am from Maine and very familiar with the woods. But it was different enough that it was just awe-inspiring.

Awww! Thank you so much! That means a lot to me. I am really trying hard to make this a good TR! I think I am going to have to save a hard copy of it for when I am old and gray and can't work a computer anymore! ;)

Great updates!!! Soooo sweet :lovestruc

I forgot to mention at your last update that DH and I were in the backlot tour pearl harbor scene a few years ago. You definately should do it...it was fun! But a word of warning...you do get a little wet ;)

Love all the pics as always! :thumbsup2

WL looks amazing. We are thinking of staying there next year. I'm trying to debate if it's worth the money to be that close to MK. We plan just to go down for DD's bday/MNSSHP and stay 4 nights. Since we'll be mostly at MK, it would be nice to be close but POP is more reasonable. What to do, what to do :confused3

Thanks! I love the fact that WL is so close to MK and you have a few options of getting there too. I think if you are going for such a shorter trip than you are used too it would be nice to spend less of that time dealing with transportation, you know?

Ya, that's my thought. I love AKL but it's SOOO far from MK when you are spending a lot of time there. Here's hoping for a room code to make it a little cheaper!!!

I will cross my fingers for you. Please cross your fingers for me for a cheap-o room code for WL next December! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Awwww, Leslie! You made me cry! That's so nice to be so @ peace and to have come so far. Glad you had a Happy Birthday!

Ahhh, what a beautiful update, LL!

Dinner looks good, and this DISer is glad that you ignored the idiots making fun of you and continued taking pics.

Your firework pictures are gorgeous! I am such a sucker for fireworks.

I am so glad that you got your fairy tale "happily ever after," and had a wonderful birthday at Disney World!

I laughed out loud at the hissy fit spanning two countries :lmao: .

I'm so glad that you had such a wonderful, special birthday. It sounds like other than some minor castle dinner issues it was wonderful.
