Ladies & Gentlemen, Girls & Boys. Just off the Magic and there is talk of a Medittrainian cruise for the Magic in 2007. With a 14 day position cruise. RUMOR FOLKS. :hyper2:

That's not a rumor, it's been confirmed for a while now. The exact itinerary is not set, but the cruises will sail out of Barcelona. Dates should come out by April. We are already waitlisted for the Roy or Walt suite! :cool1:

Can't wait. :sunny:

One Question ~ How are they going to make a 5 day trip into a 14 day one?

Any insight?

They were able to make the repo cruise from Florida to California a 14 day trip, by stoping at various ports on both sides of the Panama Canal. I would imagine they will stop at CC for one of the days, then some ports on the other side of the pond.

Okay - don't laugh - I am now a proud :goodvibes U.S. citizen BUT I did literally come off the "boat" as they used to say. I will ask my dad (not today, they won't be home) soon what were the ports when we came over from Italy. I was young but I definitely remember leaving from Italy and three ports were Naples, Spain and Canada before arriving in NY (not Ellis Island) - (please don't ask me the ports since I barely remember the countries). I am almost sure there were one or two more. It also took us 10 days.

Even though we will not be on the repo cruise, I would love to know what the possible stops might be.

Just curious about the source of this information. I have several friends who work for DCL corporate and every single one denies these rumors as "pure speculation".

I would love to sail on a cruise to the Med. as we had the Roy suite for the Mexican Riviera. However, I would prefer some basis for how this rumor is confirmed before I give DCL any extra money.

Thanks!

Same here....I have tried to get it out of them, and they claim not to know and say they are not sure of any new ports. :confused3

Who know...I guess we will have to wait until April. ;)

A few of the CMs we talked to on the 12/10 Magic were very excited at the posibility of cruising closer to their home countries. They can't wait to share their knowledge about the best places to go when in port there. :)

One CM pretty much came out and said yes there is a Med cruise, Others only hinted at it. Sailing would be out of Spain. :hyper2:

As this time, Disney Magic cruises in the Mediterranean are not official. The Mediterranean cruises have not been confirmed by Disney Cruise Line. No schedules or itineraries have published.

Servers on the Magic talking about the Mediterranean does not constitute an official confirmation. Since at least 2002, servers on the Magic have been telling passengers that a new ship, the Disney Dream, is under construction. (Don't get excited; in reality DCL has still not contracted for a third ship.)

However, the Mediterranean cruises are about as secret as the California cruises were before they were announced in May 2004. This seems to be more than just a rumor among servers or Internet users repeating a fabricated story.

I fully expect the Disney Magic to sail the Mediterranean Sea in summer 2007.

I can't tell you how many times I have heard cast members say they were "adding a loop" to Space Mountain. No offense to anyone here, but I find it hard to trust the information of any cast member in a service position on the ships when those who work at DCL corporate state this is nothing more than a rumor. I certainly do not think the cast members are "lying" but merely treating rumor and speculation as though it is truth.

I may be way wrong in my opinion, but with the high price of Disney cruises, how many people will honestly pay to fly a family of 4 or more to Spain to cruise for a 5-7 day cruise? Maybe I am underestimating the draw of Disney, but I have watched these boards as countless people have already called for their own personal boycott because of rising prices.

I hope the rumors are true as my wife and I will book the minute the info is released. We are somewhat hesitant to get excited as so many people were positive that Disney would offer cruises to Hawaii and/or Alaska in 2006 and both failed to materialize.

Disney fans who live in Europe (and there are millions) will have the opposite perspective. Finally a chance to take a Disney Cruise that doesn't require expensive flights across the Atlantic! There are a bunch of European discount air carriers. With some advance planning, many Europeans can get very cheap airfares to Barcelona.

Let's suppose DCL offers a dozen cruises out of Barcelona. DCL will have no trouble selling out the 875 staterooms on each cruise. My guess is that the cruises will be especially popular with people from Britain. But there will also be plenty of passengers from other European countries. And there will be plenty of Americans and Canadians — repeat cruisers who will welcome the new, "once in a lifetime" itinerary, as well as families that will can afford the money (or frequent flyer points) to combine a European vacation and a Disney Magic c ruise.

You bring up a very valid point! Also very ignorant of me to assume all Disney fans must be based in the U.S.

I realize that a number of us (not a majority) will gladly pay to fly to Europe for such a cruise. I personally do not think that the cruise is that expensive, however, I realize that it is my wife and I with no children.

Let us hope it comes true!

Actually....

.... we have been shopping the med cruises for some time - and we were reserved for a western med cruise on Radissson in 2005 - but we canceled when the other members of our expanded family backed out. My point - is the dozen or so sailngs DCL offers will no doubt sell briskly and without need of fanfare. I would normally consider it - except we have very specific port schedules on out "must have list" plus we are trying to coordinate a multi-family gathering. SO - sadly we will probably not try to do it this time around.

I must say however, that I am very pleased to see DCL trying out such innovative trips. It probably is a cautious process of PROVING the marketability of building and semi-permanently positioning ships in various regions. Heck - they're doing it amusement parks - so why not cruise ships. If nothing less - then should demand waver then they can simply MOVE a ship into a differnt market!

SO - it looks exciting to see these sailngs. Happy trails to all who are fortunate enough to join in any of these special schedules. ::yes::

I appreciate the response in this thread and my opinion on the marketability of DCL in other areas has been swayed. That said, everyone keeps treating this rumor as fact and my original question remains: What is the source of this information?

Last year everyone made wonderful and valid arguments of why Disney was going to Hawaii and Alaska. They quoted a number of people with "inside knowledge". Of course, neither of these itineraries materialized and those who "sold" this information to everyone conveniently stayed in the background until the disappointment faded.

I am excited about the prospect of sailing to the Med., but caution everyone to not take anything as fact until it is released by Disney via press release or on sale dates.

Although it is a rumor, the Capt on the 12/3 Magic announced at the CC reception that there was going to be an exciting announcement in the Spring about a new itenerary. He then polled us as a group on where we'd like to see DCL sail. Afterward, he indicated that the top two answers given by DCL passengers are the Med and Alaska and that there would be news in April.

So, for whatever it's worth, that's what we were told. We'll have to wait and see!! :flower: I'm so pathetic, that the Magic could go around the block and I'd probably sign up LOL!! :teeth:

Actually..the third ship was contracted at the same time the magic and wonder were...it just isn't being built yet. It is also very different from the magic and wonder.

ok my heart is pounding now, as a matter of fact I am drooling with the possibility of going on a new cruise with disney. We have done four already and have a 5th booked for this December. I hope this rumor pans out

Actually, yes they have... just not publicly . And my source isn't some foolish CM spreading rumors. But I am not going to give the person's name here and cost someone their job!!

But, the more people who want to believe it's just a rumor, the better... it helps my chances of getting my cat. 1 suite! :rotfl:

LOL!!
DH mentioned that he would love to do a DCL sailing in the Med. We had planned on Rome next year anyway.... We would just have to figure out the logistics since we want to see more *religiously important places * (we are Catholic).
And I would probably become physically ill at the idea of paying for 5 people (kids in 2007 - 16dd, 9ds & 6dd) and knowing that DH would want a Cat 1 or 2.... :teeth: He has alot easier time of spending money on fun then I do! LOL!
