First, thank you to all who have posted in the past on where to buy charms, especially Disney ones. Experts, there is a question near the end, all others, enjoy the reading.
I bought a stainless steel starter bracelet for DD at the department store where I work ($5, less my store discount) and three 14k initals ($10 each, less discount). I only bought three letters because her full name is 8 letters and once we start building we will run out of room for new charms.
I expressed to MIL that I wanted to get Disney charms to add on to her bracelet. I happened to be online searching when the in-laws came to visit today and showed her what DD liked. I think I was on Italians Charms website and just didn't know how I would dignify $27 for one enamel charm, so I came back here and searched those threads about where to buy charms. I wound up on ebay and searched through hundreds of pages, finding some cute, and inexpensive enamel charms. I've already won two gold Mickey icons to add to either end of her name and I still paid less than one of the enamels I was looking at on Italian Charms.
A question I have, the reason for the new thread, is how can I tell what kind of gold-plating is used? One of the auctions states 18K, the other only says gold-plate. I figure why not go with the plating on the extra charms, as over time she may tire of certain ones and want to replace them with something else. And now I wonder, are the charms I bought at work solid 14K or plated at for the price?
