It was just Titus and his spoon...

I emailed Titus yesterday and told him about my four year old nephew Garet (Garet thinks my dd Ashli is pretty great and by extention so is her boyfriend Titus "The Army Man" lol). It seems yesterday Garet was picking up enough of the adult conversation around him to understand that the army 'got' a couple bad guys yesterday. He asked me if TITUS got the bad guys. I told him I didn't think Titus was probably there right then but Garet didn't like that answer so he just kept asking me the same question over and over, lol. Finally out of desperation I sort of implied that Titus did indeed get the bad guys. Titus emailed me back and the subject line was "...it was just me and my spoon..." I had no idea spoons could be so lethal, lol. Titus did say that the apaches that provided some back up were from his base but that is as close as his connection to the mission was.

Titus emailed Ashli this morning and told her that he was on a convoy to Mosul that was ahead of the one that was attacked and three soldiers were killed. He said they didn't see or hear anything and he didn't know about the attack until he got back to the base. (Both convoys were from his base and were going into Mosul at approximately the same time).

It is great that even after all this time over there in such harsh conditions Titus is still able to joke with you for the benefit of your nephew. From all you have posted to us in these Titus updates I think that your daughter (and your whole family) have found themselves a great addition in this young man. I am sure that we all continue to wish him the best and for his return to your family unharmed.

When I heard the news yesterday about the ambush on the 101st, my heart went up in my throat and tears welled in my eyes. My immediate thoughts were of Titus and I quickly said a prayer.

I agree - Titus seems like a real keeper. What a great sense of humor he has!

titus has been in my thoughts with all of the news centered around the 101st lately. happy to hear that he's safe!! and how cute was that for him to say for your nephew?!
