Well folks, a couple of weeks ago I literally went through everything in my closet and drawers and took out the stuff that is too big (ok, I had to keep some of the undies, etc until I could replace them! :p ) and they were empty!

So this past weekend I talked DH into going shopping with me. Even though I have further to go, I can't go on the cruise naked nor can I go trying to rotate the 3 pair of chinos I have for work at the moment.

It was SO MUCH FUN! I can't remember the last time I had fun shopping for clothes. I could walk into my favorite departments again (Liz Claiborne, Jones New York, etc) in fact just about any store and pull clothes off the rack! DH really helped to zero in on those outfits that looked the best - a good thing because when you're used to buying certain looks it can be hard to switch gears!

DS did go with us (15) and he had a hard to reconciling Mom in some of the looks! :smooth:

Sounds like fun!!!
I can't wait for out with the old in with the new. :D

The best part IMHO...about losing weight is having an excuse to SHOP!!!!

It sounds like fun!! Wow!! Good for you!! :):)

Way to go!! :) You are going to look fabulous for your cruise!! :)

Thanks for the feedback - it helps to stay motivated! The improvement to my health (I didn't FEEL unwell, but am feeling better!) was a great start and I'm geared to keep going but those warm fuzzies help.

And Beanie, I may actually get in FRONT of the camera for this scrapbook! :p Although that would require someone else to pick it up!

How fun!! Congratulations!! :bounce:

I can't wait for that to happen. right now.....I HATE clothes shopping!

Perhaps this is why I do all my clothes shopping on line! So happy someone is actually enjoying the clothes shopping experience! Have fun!:p

You just gave me renewed hope FantasticDisFamily. I'm still a little large for Liz Claiborne. You just proved to me that I can be successful and that someday I will enjoy shopping for clothes. I'm looking forward to that day :)

Thanks for helping to keep me motivated and on target.

You'll get there Katholyn! If you had asked me if I would be at this point for our upcoming cruise I would have seriously doubted it. But at the end of January (in the midst of a whole stack of potential health issues which made this not so bad at all) when my doctor said this is the situation - you can ignore it and these are the likely consequences or you can begin eating in such and such a manner and getting a little more exercise and more than likely avoid all of that - well let's just say it got my attention.

4 days later I met with a dietician for some initial direction, then started devouring a whole stack of books, and researching the various approaches to gaining this nutritional control I was supposed to be gaining. Hey, I'm a professor - research is what we do!

Anyway, I made the decision that I would control the situation to the best of my ability and that is what I've done. The weight loss has actually been a pleasant side effect (although it was predicted I didn't believe it. I've struggled with my weight since I was a teenager).

Now I'm at a point where I'm really excited to get the remaining pounds off and having these sorts of things happen along the way (AND having the doc ecstatic over the results doesn't hurt) is keeping me motivated.

We CAN do this!
