It was all started by a towel...

HI! Just finished reading it all! Loved everything and am sorry that your trip is almost over. We are spending 10 days in AKC from 12/24 - 1/2 and we can't wait. Do you have any pictures of your pool view? we have had a sav. view and are really hoping to get that again, but would love to be able to show husband the pool view from Con. level rooms. if not thanks anyway and safe home:)

I think DH took some pics from the balcony. I will try to remember to take some with my camera before we leave, just in case. :)

Cramming all of this stuff back into the suitcases is NOT as easy or fun as it was when we were leaving home. :headache:

We went to MK after dinner last night. Got there just as Wishes was starting. We rode The Tomorrowland Speedway, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder, DS and Debbie rode Splash and were both drenched, and then we all rode Pirates before heading to the bus. Crowds thinned out somewhat after the 11 PM Spectro. The Big Thunder FP machines were still on for EMH. DS claimed he wanted to stay and keep riding stuff, but we really needed to come back.

We have been stuffing things into suitcases for an hour and a half and we still have odds and ends scattered all over. Since we HAVE TO be out of the room by 11 AM this could get interesting.

You'll make it, Elizabeth. I have every confidence in your packing abilities. ;)

Safe travels Elizabeth!

Just out of curiosity, how much did the airlines whack you to check your luggage? I just read that they raised the prices yet again!

I think I'm gonna start driving a lot more....

Sounds like a nice last day...hope you have a safe trip home.

We're home!

We did manage to cram everything back into the luggage. We checked 4 bags going to MCO, 5 bags coming home. It was $15 for the first bag, $25 for the second, so they got us for $70 going in and $95 coming out. :headache: I called BAGS on Friday and paid our luggage fees - very easy once I figured it out. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT wait until you are in the resort airline check-in line to try to pay those fees!!!!! :scared1::scared1: There were 2 families in front of us that hadn't paid them. The people were getting mad at the BAGS agents, it was a huge mess. They had to step out of the line, call to pay the fees, give the confirmation to the BAGS agent, huge debacle. CALL TO PAY THE FEES BEFORE YOU GET IN THE LINE!!! I will say when I got the letter about paying the fees I was confused. When I asked at the concierge desk she told me to pay them when we checked the bags in. Um, NO. Wrong answer. Luckily I double checked with the BAGS guy Friday morning. Oh, and in case anyone was curious, you are DEFINITELY supposed to tip the BAGS agent when you do resort airline check-in. I was never really clear on that, but this year they made it QUITE clear. :rotfl:

In December we will just have carry-ons, so they won't get us for anything extra. Next summer we'll have to just see. If we can get decent airfare on SW we won't have to pay for bags, but we prefer to fly American. I think we will be in a villa with a washer next year so TECHNICALLY I won't need to pack so many clothes. :rolleyes1

I was bummed that there was no WiFi on our flight coming home. Made for a boring 2.5 hours! Uneventful trip home.

I just added up the cost of ALL of our food. All of the food, drinks, snacks, etc. that we bought over the course of the entire trip came to $2131.86, tips included with the Tables in Wonderland card. That averages out to $142.13 per day. The basic DDP would have run $120 per day without tips, and the DxDDP would have been $210 without tips. We came in under what I had budgeted for food, mostly because DS ate off the kid's menu the whole time (HIS choice, not ours).

We saved a ton of money on milk because they had it in the concierge lounge. DS drinks gallons of milk! Other than that, we mostly just had cookies, chips, and soda from the lounge. We did eat breakfast there several mornings, so that saved us some money, too. They used to have soup in the evenings, but they didn't have soup any evening during this trip. They typically only had one or two appetizers in the evenings, and if you didn't time it right they were gone. But really, they put those things out as we were leaving for dinner every night so it's not like we were horribly disappointed.

Welcome home! I'm going to really miss your live reports!!!!

Glad I didn't have to deal with those bag fees on Jet Blue.

I didn't know about tipping the Bags folks. The bellman (which we did tip) broght the bags right to the area for us. The Bags person checking us in wasn't so obvious. Now I know....

Packing for December should be fun for you! I think I'm going to take the larger suitcase in December. It was well under 50 pounds on this trip and it is much easier to pack. In December we'll need bring both warm weather & cold weather clothes. I've had temps ranging from 30's to 80's on the same trip more than once.

We took our own bags down to the desk. I can't remember what words the lady used, but it was stressed that the service is EXACTLY like curbside at the airport so it is OK to tip the agent. And we DO tip the curbside guys, I just wasn't ever sure on the BAGS people before.

None of the bags were close to 50 lbs. I think one was even under 40. The family in front of us was international, and they had one that was 52 and one that was 54. They had to get out of line, open the bags, and try to move stuff around. The wife did that while the husband called to pay the fees. Not a good way to do things.

Glad you all made it back safely, thanks for sharing your trip with us!

I distinctly remember being in the lobby of BWV, trying to check in our bags...one which was 53 pounds! Bill is lucky to be alive after that episode :rotfl2:

Elin, we found the PERFECT activity for you!! After breakfast on Saturday we decided to check out the "Beaded Jewelry" at Simba's Cubhouse. It is only open to ages 13 and up, so it is NOT a kid's activity. It is $1 per inch, and you make your own bracelet or necklace. DS made a necklace for Princess, and I made a bracelet. They have TONS of beads. The ladies who work there put the clasp on for you - all you have to do is select your beads and string them. It was fun. And since we didn't have anything to do before departure it was a nice way to pass the time. My bracelet ended up being $7, the necklace was $15.

Yes...we have been giving him a hard time about it all day.

He was giving Jackie a hard time about something and she asked him if he had reached hurricane level yet! :rotfl2:

I had a few in my bag and was a bit concerned.;)

Did you hear about Hurricane Bill forming? I couldn't help but think of you & yours.

Those toiletries get heavy after you hoard them for 2 weeks!! :rotfl2: We brought home a TON of soap and shampoo. We love that soap - we use it all the time. I will donate the shampoo and stuff.

Oh, so I have a weird story.

Yesterday we had a 7:35 AM ADR for Boma. When we found out MK was open until 2 AM for EMH we decided to cancel the ADR and see if we could move it to around 11 AM. That way when we left the room at 11 AM we would have somewhere to go! We got an ADR for 10:30 and we arrived a couple of minutes late. No big deal, we were seated and started to eat.

In the middle of breakfast I realized my golf jacket was still up in the room. I remembered tossing it next to my backpack on the bed. White jacket, white sheets, I was sure I left it up there and I just didn't see it when I grabbed the backpack. So I ran back up (it was 11:10 AM) and luckily the room key still worked. Jacket was on the bed. YAY! The weird thing was that the tip envelope for the housekeeper was gone. I put it next to the toaster. DH saw it, and he swears he didn't touch it. The only thing we can come up with is that they popped in to make sure we were gone and grabbed the tip. :confused3 Nothing else in the room had been touched.

I actually have that bead board! :rotfl: I am glad you got some handcrafted souvenirs out of your trip. ;)

Some of the sample pieces they had were fabulous! The activity is offered on Wed and Sat from 10 AM - 1 PM, and you do NOT have to be an AKL guest to participate. :)

A very simular thing happened to us. We called bell services to help us with the luggage-I needed help with the Owner's Locker. We left the stroller and little bag and drinks in the room. I had left the tip on the bed. DH says when we got back the tip was gone but of course he didn't tell me til later in the day.
