I am flying out of BWI on Airtran on November 27th and returning on December 4th.
About a month ago, I was curious if I had made a good purchase and was checking the fares. I noted that my flight number had changed, so I called Disney to make sure they had the new flight number for my return home on ME.
This morning, I was doing some cleaning up of my desk and e-mail box and decided to go into the Airtran website to print off my confirmation with the new flight number.
It noted that I had paid for a seat assignment in both directions, but my seat number was missing for the return flight home. I checked the website and my seat was blocked out as unavailable, so I figured it was okay.
But it kept gnawing at me. Sure enough I just called and the seat I booked is NOT me. I don't have a seat assignment, even though I paid for it. And the plane is nearly full.
Luckily they had an aisle seat about six rows farther back, so I got it. The customer service rep stated that in my case, when they changed the flight number, they try to transfer all the information over, but in my case the computer didn't transfer my seat assignment, but didn't credit me for picking my seat either.
Imagine if I had waited until I arrived at MCO to go home. I would have had the last available seat - although in my case, I would have expected it to be in First Class!
So it pays to double check (or clean out your e-mail box once in a while!)
