And, then we sat and colored for a LONG time.

A little girl came over and sat by me for the longest time… no mom in sight… then a little boy came along and knocked an umbrella down which almost fell on top of all of us. Thankfully, it didn’t hurt anyone or him but he took off because you could tell it scared him. Mom finally showed up but never said a word about the whole ordeal. As it turned out I do think she was the mom of both the children who appeared to seem to be there on their own. While we finished up our coloring I tried to call Canyon girl to see if we could work out a meeting time since this was one of our days in the same park. She didn’t answer so I left a voice message. After a very long coloring session we wandered through Frontierland and headed over to POTC.

While on the ride my phone rang but again I missed catching it in time because my ringer is so quiet. It was Canyon girl calling me back and she had left me a message. I could not believe it! She was scheduled to be on the Lily Belle at 4:40 too! I called her back when we got off Pirates and we made plans to just go ahead and meet at the train station. I called the guys so they would not forget to meet us too. We strolled through the stores on our way to the station.

When we got to the station we found Canyon girl, CanuckDuck and their kiddos. Our families sat around for a while talking as we waited for our very cool ride to come in.

The Lilly Belle finally pulled in and we were ushered in with another 6 people. It was very awesome to be riding in Walt and Lillian’s own private train car! We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the park.

We decided to all go over and ride Pooh together. Somehow after that we ended up in the gift shop.

When we were through there the kids wanted to go ride the teacups together so we followed the leader over to that area of the park. The guys wanted to ride Splash but it was down so they ended up riding Big Thunder while the girls took on the teacups. Canyon girl and I had a wonderful chat while we were spinning out of control. We learned that besides homeschooling that we have a number of things in common. The girls were giddy with excitement and acted like they had been best friends forever so I am pretty sure we will be staying in touch.

Our bunch decided we were hungry so we parted ways and headed in for the evening. We grabbed some Denney’s, watched a repeat performance of How to Train Your Dragon, ran back down and got some Coldstone’s for dessert and settled in for dreamland.

I love, love, love Toon Town. The bright colors and the campiness of the place really does it for me.

And how cool to be able to ride in the Lilly Belle.

Yeah in June there were like at least 3 people from Disboards at the parks like we were. We even did DCA the same day but we never once ran across one another. But, I have to tell you I looked in everyone else pictures.
Only 3? June must have been a bad month. According to the November thread we had there were 80 Disers in the park during the 2 week span that we were at DL and that does not include the group of ladies that I met when I met Sherry. As I just posted I did get to meet Canyon girl and CanuckDuck but that was all I ran into from the BIG list. I'm not sure I have browsed through every trip report but I've read quite a few and haven't spotted us yet!

Okay how's this at least three that I knew? I would bet there were a lot more we were there the week WoC opened. It opened Friday and we got there on Sunday. Everyone came to see it.:scared1:

Michele! I keep just missing you! Thanks so much for reading along and POSTING! I know there are readers out there but I would sure like to see more of them posting! It's always good to hear some input. Oh well....guess I will just be grateful for the ones that do. :lovestruc

Anyway, Toontown is just fun! There are so many things to do and, of course, endless photo opportunities. If you take the time to look around you can spend a good amount of time there before you even realize it.

The Lily Belle was wonderful! I could have stayed in there for hours just circling the park! I was pleasantly surprised when they actually said we could ride it. I never imagined it would be as simple as just asking. So keep that in mind and be sure to ask next time. Maybe I will be riding about your trip next!

Missed you again! Did you see the WOC the week it opened? I bet that was insane! It really wasn't all that crowded when we went. At least not nearly as bad as I had imagined it might be. Loved it! Even the kids liked it and didn't mind the long wait too much.

I am still here. I think people are too shy to talk sometimes. I on the other hand am not.:rotfl: I am around for a few more minutes before I have to go buy a new binder for one of girls. Argh.

No, we did not. People were in line at 5am to get the fps to go. I was not about to wait in line at 5am.:rotfl: But, I am going to see it on 2/22. My BFF and I are eating at Wine Country Trattoria and getting our tickets.

I suppose that is true. They don't have to be shy here! I promise I don't bite! :rotfl2:
Some of those people are crazy! I wanted to see it and loved it but there are limits to what I would have done. I wonder if they don't think it will be around for awhile? It certainly was worth seeing but I am very sure it would not have been worth waiting from 5 am for just to say that you were one of the first to see it. When we went we ate at WCT. It was the first time we had been there. The food was pretty good. The service was a bit slow. However, I imagine by now that they should be getting the hang of it so I hope you have better service. I also think sometimes it's just hit or miss. It was still definitely worth it to have the reserved spot and not have to worry about beating a huge crowd to a good spot. I hope you have a great time!

I am so glad to here that about WCT. I was a little concerned about whether it was worth it or not. Thank you.

Toontown looks like so much fun!!! And so much bigger than WDW's.

I had never heard of the Lilly Belle but that too looks like a lot of fun.
So glad you got to meet up w/ a fellow Diser. Sounds like a great match.

We also LOVE the Rainforest Cafe. Especially the one in WDW. However we have been making a point to always eat at RC if there is one in the area, across the USA. So far we've done...

Enjoying your pictures. Looks like I need to go back just to check out Toontown. We really don't bother with that area. I've only been to DLR once during Christmas. I just remember crowds. Don't remember reindeer. :rotfl2: Didn't know about Lilly Belle. Learn something new everyday. :goodvibes

How wonderful you got to ride the Lily Belle. I was going to ask while we were there, but I am pretty timid and I was not brave enough. Next time I will!!

I don't think that girl was mesmerized by the staring contest; I think she was mesmerized by your son :rotfl:

Guess what? I found my son in MattsPrincess's trip report!! It was at the flag retreat ceremony on Nov 19th. I was so excited. I really didn't think I would ever see ourselves in a TR!

Hi Marie!! :wave2:
Somehow I missed that you took your yearly trip. I always love your reports & pics!! You really got to stay for a nice long trip!!!! The holiday decorations are amazing.......one of these years I'll get to see them in person!! Can't wait to see more!!!!!!!!

RFC......every trip we go & we've been noticing a decline in the quality of the food. 2005 everyone's food was good, 2008 only one meal wasn't very good, 2009, a couple dissatified eaters.....2010.....most of us we're disappointed. Not sure we'll plan on going again.....maybe try the breakfast in March but undecided if we will or not. Love going there but something needs to be done about their cooks!

Darn DIS! What have you done with my notifications????? Don't you know I have people responding that I need to know about???? Anyway, my apologies to my readers for not getting back sooner!

I am so glad to here that about WCT. I was a little concerned about whether it was worth it or not. Thank you.
I worried and fretted that my family would never forgive me for dragging them to a show that took up so much of our time and a bunch of it just standing around... waiting. As it turned out they were all very "go with the flow". I guess they are getting to where they trust my planning choices. Boy, is that a nice feeling! Anyway, we did NOT spend as long waiting in lines as some people have reported and still ended up with a reasonably good spot. Of course, I am sure a great deal of that had to do with purchasing a dining package. We passed the time harassing each other during the time that we did have to waste. That's right up kids alley so they were happy. I still am not sure why they didn't design the viewing area where you can actually sit down but it wasn't too bad. Overall I am even pretty sure they would all be willing to do it again on some of our future trips. The show itself is impressive too, of course!

Disneyland's Toontown is MUCH bigger and just so much different. We did not stay long at WDW's when we went because it was just so packed with people in such a small area. In DL there can be tons of people but since there is so much room it never feels quite so crowded. I think at DL many people also think of Toontown as being for kids only and don't even venture back there. Don't get me wrong. It stays pretty full but I suppose it does help to thin the crowd out some that some adults just seem to avoid it. That said, there really is a lot of fun stuff for all ages to look at. Gags everywhere.

The Lilly Belle is one of those special touches that you only find at Disneyland. That's the sort of stuff that adds to it's charm. Being the original park, it is full of history on top of all the rides, shows and attractions. I think at Disneyland you can get so much more absorbed in Walt Disney's vision. DL just has a more personal feel. I don't know if that makes sense. It's kinda like you can go to the park and feel like it is your park. At WDW I never felt that way. It was more like everybody else's park.

It is so much fun to meet other people in the park! I met 6 Disers on this trip alone! I wish I had not missed getting to meet you when we were at WDW! I just felt lost and out of my element and then the weather was so uncooperative. Nothing seemed to cooperate so I guess it is no small wonder that the timing didn't either. I'm still rooting for a TKer meet at DL!

Oh man! The RFC at WDW was wonderful! It was our favorite meal of our whole trip. We ended up eating there twice. The food there blew DL's RFC out of the water! So sad! I am so jealous that you have visited so many different ones. Does the food pretty much stay the same or have you found that many of them vary much? And what is up with you having been to the one in Grapevine???? It's probably only about 30 minutes from us and I have never been! I really need to do something about that! Right now I am craving Mimi's Cafe after having eaten there on our trip. There's also one of those in Grapevine so I am trying to come up with a plan to get there... Valentine's Day or birthday maybe? Maybe after that I can start working on another plan to get us to the RFC.

:goodvibes
Sounds like you and D&D need to both come check out Toontown! It's really quite fun back there. Lots to look at plus you can usually find Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto. Every now and then you might run into Chip and Dale or even Donald and Daisy. Roger Rabbit is fun and even Gadget's Go Coaster is good for an ultra quick spin.
The Christmas season is the best season to go so you did good! The park is so beautiful at that time of year. It does get crowded but with a little careful planning you can optimize your chances of picking a better week. Not right near Thanksgiving or Christmas. One of the in between weeks will always be much better. I am not sure how long they have been having the Reindeer Roundup but it is nice. Mega decorations and the best Santa ever! This will be our 10th year to go to DL and I still learn new things all the time too.

Yes indeed! You work up that courage! You will be glad you did if you manage to swing a trip. You can also ask to ride tender on the train. That's fun too but not nearly as swanky! I also think you can ride the caboose but I am not positive. I've not asked about that one yet.
LOL! My son got a kick out of your response about the girl being mesmerized by him. I think you may be right. ;) Sometimes the strangers in a picture can really bring new life to your photo.

Hi Laurie! Nice to see you around here on the DIS! It's been awhile! Glad you finally caught up and found me. Long stays are the best! I'm already thinking about our next trip... trying to decide how many days we can pull off this time. I cannot believe you haven't made it during the holiday season! You really must! The park is absolutely beautiful. Plus all the special seasonal extras. I suppose you probably have to work around the kid's schedule, right? Hopefully, I will get another day added to my report this week.
I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who has noticed the decline on RFC's food. Kinda sad really. On the other hand if it has been going downhill for some time maybe one of these days it will reach the point where it can't go down any more and has to improve! I'm not ready to give up yet. You know how it is when you only go during vacations. You so look forward to going. Pretty sure my DD would have a big old fit if I told her we weren't going. It's her favorite. In our case it's more about the experience than the food so I guess we'll just have to keep hoping it gets better.

All that money to stand up for the show. Boo, but, thats alright we can exit out and just walk through DTD and enjoy the stroll afterward.

Actually, after the show started, I think most of the people who were on the stairs in the dining package section did end up sitting down. Not sure if that happens often or if we were just there on a not so crowded night but it might be a worth a try. We were off to the side in one of the "recommended" sections. I was glad I had a fence to lean on most of the time. It actually goes by pretty fast and honestly during the show I wasn't even thinking about whether my feet were tired or not. You've got the right attitude! Think positive!

I think I have to be positive. It makes life so much more fun. And easier to swallow.

Positive is always best!

I don't have a new update this morning but I just have to share! Yesterday I finally got in a little discussion with my DH about dates for our annual trip this year. Looks like we will be heading for Disneyland September 18-October 1. Still working on my lodging details and everything else but this is a start! He actually has a convention in Salt Lake City, Utah Sept. 14th-17th so we will start there and drive on over to Anaheim! I am ready to go now! Well, not quite.... but you know what I mean. :woohoo:

And look at my siggie! I got to add a ticker!!!! :yay:

Day 7, November 16, 2010

This morning DD and I headed out for an earlier morning by ourselves. Another beautiful day in bright sunny California! I love all their roses!

On the way into the park we decided that we would ride one of the vehicles down Main Street BUT as luck would have it we arrived as the Disneyland Band was doing their morning show so the road was pretty well obstructed….. thus no vehicles to ride. We waited around and checked out the scenery for a while to see if they might almost be done.

We finally gave up and made our way down Main Street …… by foot. We stopped in at the Magic Shop. It is one of those little hidden treasures that has been on my list for ages but we have just never taken the time to check out. Today was the day! I am glad we did. DD got to make bunnies multiple in her hand and the CM working the counter took my ring and made it spin in mid air. Too cool!
