It Only Took 5 Months to Finish Trip Report - November 10-26, 2010

November 26, 2010

We are always sad to say goodbye to Disneyland but I think that we stay long enough that we are actually finally ready to go home at the end of 2 weeks. It sure makes the parting much easier. It does not however make the packing any better! As if we didn’t bring enough to begin with we have to figure out how to get even more home! I worked at it and finally managed to creatively squeeze everything into place. We called for a taxi to pick us up at 12:00. Immediately after I called we thought to look at check out time and it dawned on us that we were really supposed to have been out by 11:00. OOPS! Oh well, they didn’t kick us out so all was well. We made our way to the airport with plenty of time to spare. Even more so when out flight got delayed by almost an hour. Oh well, I would rather they find problems before we take off rather than during the flight! Somehow they always manage to make up a little of the time in flight so we ended up being only about 30 minutes late when we landed in DFW. We managed to get out of the airport and only got lost once on the way home.

All in all a great trip! Good to be home now but I know in no time I will be ready to go again!

Just a few more words I just gotta share....
There was a little wishy-washy speculation as to when we would go back to Disneyland next there for awhile BUT I am happy to report that I have CONFIRMED that our 2011 trip will be October 31-November 12. Only 183 days to go!!!! So glad I finally wrapped up this report... now I need to get planning!!!

Evidently it's a family thing! Ya know how it took 5 months for me to finish my trip report? Well, my DH finally got around to finishing up our videos of our trip and we finally watched it.... 6 months late! It was actually kinda fun this way. A good way to enjoy the memories all over again but not too soon after we got back and a good way to satisfy our missing the park while our next trip is still a good ways off.

Gosh I wish November would hurry up and get here!

Marie -

Your upcoming trip dates are especially interesting this year because, although you have said previously that you don't think you all will go into the parks on 10/31, the option is there (if you change your mind) to catch the very last day of the Halloween season (I think you would really enjoy the Halloween Round-Up and the men might like Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy) on 10/31, and probably the very first full day of the Christmas season's festivities - assuming it begins on November 11th this year.

So you will get a little sampling of both holidays, and then you will be there in that weird transitional/overlapping stage, when there is still Halloween stuff up while Christmas things are slowly appearing around the parks as well! Those will make for some really fun photos - if you can snap some Halloween merchandise sitting side by side on a shelf with some Christmas things, or some leftover pumpkins on Main Street...with the snow-covered Winter Castle in the background!

Hi Sherry! Glad you stopped in! Believe it or not, before I saw your post I actually already had several tabs opened with full intention of getting some posts made over on your TR and the Christmas Superthread. We'll see how it goes! In the meantime....

Yes, I know our dates for this year are not necessarily the first choice of dates one might make but when you are trying to work around dates before your AP expires you kinda have to take what you can. I am sure you know what I mean. Anyway, I may miss some of the all out holiday decorations but as you mentioned it will still be amusing to see the transition between the two holidays taking shape. You have an interesting idea about taking pictures showing both holiday decorations side by side. Sounds like a worthy challenge! I will have to see what I can do.

I did see that the Halloween party dates were released for Disneyland and only extend to Oct. 31 so I'm hoping that the majority of the crowds that were there for those events might thin out after the parties end. Hopefully, the first part of November will be a smidgen quieter than some of the other peak high crowd weeks. Probably wishful thinking on my part but one can dream!

DD has already informed me that she does NOT want to go while the full Halloween decorations are out. She's not a very brave soul these days BUT DS might just enjoy the ghostly overlay on Space Mountain once. Hmmmm...... maybe he and I can make a mad dash over for a few hours on our arrival day. I always feel like it's such a shame to be SO CLOSE to the park and have to wait til the next day to get there!

I can never resist the first day. When I went in February it was busier than hops and the only thing we rode was the Monorail into the park that afternoon. We would have been better off hanging out in DTD. But, we went and window shopped in Disneyland. I just can't do it.

Michele, you must travel with a more enthusiastic bunch. Lucky you! I do think I will work on them this year though.... at least my son and see if I can get him to go ahead and step foot in the park with me. I can hear my DH now though. I am pretty sure he will think that we all need to go together for the first time in the park. He is such a traditionalist!

Marie, it was just my best friend and I in February so it wasn't as bad. We did it in June too. After driving down from the bay area we went to the park for a few hours. Silly people.
