I was in my son's room a little while ago plugging in the vacuum cleaner, DH walks in and asks "Whatcha doing?" Um, what does it look like. Then about 2 minutes later, while I am vacuuming, DS walks and asks, you guessed it, "Whatcha doing?"

Do the males in your family do this?

They saw that you were vacuming but isn't nicer that YOU told them that you were doing it .

By repeating it don't you feel validated doing it when you could have been sitting playing Video games or watching TV

Yup. Happens here all the time. Also, "phone's ringing"........I go to through 2 rooms, (1 of which he's sitting in watching tv, playing video games, etc.) answer the phone and then get...."who is it?"

You need to give them a snappy comeback then say "Here's your sign"

It's amazing how when you're obviously counting something and they ask what I'm doing, they actually expect me to stop and tell them.

123, 124 , 125, 126, 127 I'm just counting M&Ms, 128, 129, 130, 131, Why? 132, 133, 134, 135, 136, It's a contest your scout den came up with, remember?, 137, 138, 139, 140, You need to leave the room or you won't be able to participate, 141, 142, 143, 144, Why not?!!??, 145, 146, Because you're listening to me count and watching me fill the jar, now scram for 10 minutes, 147, 148, 149, Yes, I'm serious, 150, 151, 152, No, I'm not starting dinner now!, 153, 154, 155, 156 No, I won't stop at 159 just so you can know the answer, Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I can't remember how many I had now! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ....
