Wheelchair assistance for AA was a nightmare at MCO on November 8. I had to walk to the elevator from ME, take it up to departures, and walk all the way across the terminal to the other side of the airline counter (and they got mad I refused to stand in the 30 minute check-in queue). There was no way to find this out, either--no one to ask, no one answering any phone number, the AA employees who were directing people didn't know, etc. The ONLY people who knew anything were the people at the check-in counter where you checked your bags and got your boarding pass *if* you opted to stand in line instead of using the kiosks and mobile boarding pass. There was a holding pen for wheelchairs we had to sit in after that, and I personally waited for an hour as it got fuller and fuller, before someone came and grabbed 2 chairs and basically ran with us, running people over, slamming us into walls, etc. There was also no special accommodation at security, we had to wait in the line. All in all, I made it to the gate (jumped out of the wheelchair and fled the handler) just barely in time for boarding, after arriving 2 hours and 15 minutes before my flight. No food or bathroom breaks--every minute of that was getting to the wheelchair pen, waiting in it, and the terrifying trip from counter to gate.
